Description
液晶表示装置を、図1及び図2を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1において、マスクを組み合わせて用いる液晶表示装置の作製方法の例を図3及び図4に示す。従って、他は実施の形態1と同様に行うことができ、実施の形態1と同一部分又は同様な機能を有する部分、及び工程の繰り返しの説明は省略する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1又は実施の形態2において、大型の基板に複数の液晶表示装置を作製する例(所謂多面取り)、を図5に示す。従って、他は実施の形態1又は実施の形態2と同様に行うことができ、実施の形態1又は実施の形態2と同一部分又は同様な機能を有する部分、及び工程の繰り返しの説明は省略する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1乃至3において適用することのできる光照射方法の他の例を図6に示す。従って、他は実施の形態1乃至3と同様に行うことができ、実施の形態1乃至3と同一部分又は同様な機能を有する部分、及び工程の繰り返しの説明は省略する。
本明細書に開示する発明は、パッシブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置でもアクティブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置にも適用することができる。
本明細書で開示する液晶表示装置が有する薄膜トランジスタの半導体層に用いられる半導体材料は特に限定されない。薄膜トランジスタの半導体層に用いることのできる材料の例を説明する。
本明細書に開示する液晶表示装置は、さまざまな電子機器(遊技機も含む)に適用することができる。電子機器としては、例えば、テレビジョン装置(テレビ、またはテレビジョン受信機ともいう)、コンピュータ用などのモニタ、デジタルカメラ、デジタルビデオカメラ等のカメラ、デジタルフォトフレーム、携帯電話機(携帯電話、携帯電話装置ともいう)、携帯型ゲーム機、携帯情報端末、音響再生装置、パチンコ機などの大型ゲーム機などが挙げられる。
Claims (4)
- 第1の基板と、
第2の基板と、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板との間の液晶層と、を有し、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板は、シール材によって固着されており、
前記液晶層は、光硬化樹脂と、ブルー相を示す液晶材料と、を有する液晶表示装置の作製方法であって、
前記液晶層に選択的に光照射処理を行って、前記光が照射された第1の領域と、前記光が照射されていない第2の領域と、を形成し、
前記第1の領域は、前記第2の領域より前記光硬化樹脂の重合度が高く、
前記第2の領域は、前記第1の領域の周囲の領域に位置し、かつ、前記シール材と接する領域を有し、
前記光照射処理は、前記液晶層に対して一定の方向に線状の光を相対的に走査しながら、前記第2の領域をマスクで覆った状態で行うことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。 - 請求項1において、
前記液晶層を加熱しながら前記光照射処理を行うことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。 - 請求項1または2において、
前記光照射処理は前記液晶層表面に対して斜めに光を照射することにより行うことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。 - 請求項1または2において、
前記光照射処理は、異なるエネルギーを与える複数の光を用い、前記複数の光のうち前記液晶層に与えるエネルギーが小さい光から先に前記液晶層に照射することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
