Description
この出願は2008年10月16日付にて提出された米国仮出願第61/196,286号に基づく利益の享受を求めるものである。
本発明は、ファイバーアレイを光通信サブアセンブリに機械的に整列させるシステムに関し、より具体的には、ファイバーアレイが最終的に光通信サブアセンブリに至ってこれに整列するまで、アライメント誤差が連続的に厳しくなるようになっている複合部品アラインメント構造に関する。
Claims (4)
- 少なくとも一本の光ファイバーを複数の導波路を具えるシリコン製光通信サブアセンブリに合体させる複合部品アライメント構造において、当該複合部品アライメント構造が:
箱形ファイバーホルダーであって、当該箱形ファイバーホルダーの底部分の内側面に沿って形成された複数の溝を具えており、各溝が当該箱形ファイバーホルダーの側面開口への挿入時に少なくとも一の光ファイバーの個別光ファイバーを支持している箱型ファイバーホルダーと;
溝付蓋コンポーネントであって、当該溝付蓋コンポーネントの下側の第1の領域に形成された複数の機械的位置合わせ構造と、前記溝付蓋コンポーネントの下側の第2の領域に形成された複数の溝とを具え、前記複数の溝が前記箱型ファイバーホルダー内に配置された少なくとも一の光ファイバーの上にスライドし、このファイバーを中に入れる、溝付蓋コンポーネントと;
複数の光導波路を具えるシリコン製光通信サブアセンブリであって、更に、前記溝付蓋コンポーネントの下側に形成した前記複数の機械的位置合わせ構造にサイズと位置が対応している複数のアラインメントデテントを具え、前記溝付蓋コンポーネントが前記シリコン製光通信サブアセンブリの上に配置されると、前記複数の機械的位置合わせ構造が前記複数のアラインメントデテントに入り、両者の間にアラインメントと機械的取付を提供し、前記シリコン製光通信サブアセンブリが更に、前記箱型のファイバーホルダーに隣接する端面に沿って形成された複数のチャンネルを具えており、当該複数のチャンネルが、前記シリコン製光通信サブアセンブリ内に形成された前記複数の光導波路に整合して前記少なくとも一の整列した光ファイバの端面終端を支持している;
ことを特徴とする複合部品アライメント構造。 - 請求項1に記載の複合部品アライメント構造において、前記少なくとも一の光ファイバーが、複数の個別光ファイバーからなる光ファイバーアレイを具えることを特徴とする複合部品アライメント構造。
- 請求項1に記載の複合部品アライメント構造において、前記箱型のファイバーホルダーが更に、その上面を通って形成された少なくとも一の窓を具えることを特徴とする複合部品アライメント構造。
- 請求項1に記載の複合部品アライメント構造において、前記シリコン製光通信サブアセンブリのチャンネルが、その端面に沿って前記シリコン製光通信サブアセンブリの上面にエッチングした構造を具えることを特徴とする複合部品アラインメント構造。
