Description
Claims (10)
- 移動する粒子と、
各々が内部にゲート領域と蓄積領域を有する表示画素の行及び列のアレイと、
複数の行アドレスラインであって、各行アドレスラインは対応する画素行をアドレス指定する当該アドレスラインと、
複数の列アドレスラインであって、それぞれは対応する画素列に画素データを与える当該列アドレスラインと、
少なくとも1つの第1電極と少なくとも1つの第2電極とを接続する複数の放電列ラインと
を有し、
前記第1電極は前記ゲート領域内に設けられ、かつ、前記第2電極は前記蓄積領域内に設けられ、
画素行をアドレス指定し、前記列アドレスラインを用いて前記アドレス指定された行の画素にデータを与えることにより、画素がアドレス指定され、列アドレスラインから列のアドレス指定された画素への電荷の流れが対応する放電列ラインに流れる表示装置。 - 各画素は、前記移動する粒子が浮遊する流体を含む密閉領域を有するセルを有し、各セル内の前記移動する粒子の移動はセルの状態を規定するために制御され、全ての表示セルの前記セルの状態は協働して当該装置の出力を規定する請求項1記載の表示装置。
- 前記移動粒子が電気泳動粒子を有する電気泳動装置を有する請求項1又は2記載の表示装置。
- イン・プレイン・スイッチング電気泳動表示装置を有する請求項3記載の表示装置。
- 各列放電ラインは、2つの隣接する画素列間において共有される請求項1ないし4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
- 各列放電ラインは、単一の画素列と関連する請求項1ないし4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
- 各々が内部にゲート領域と蓄積領域を有する表示画素の行及び列のアレイと移動する粒子を有する表示装置を駆動する方法であって、
画素行を順次アドレス指定し、対応する行アドレスラインに行選択信号を与えることにより画素行が選択されることと、
画素行がアドレス指定されると、列アドレスラインを用いて前記行の画素にデータをロードすることと
を有し、
列アドレスラインからのデータのロードの間に、前記列アドレスラインから列のアドレス指定された画素への電荷の流れが対応する放電列ラインに沿って放出され、
前記放電列ラインは少なくとも1つの第1電極と少なくとも1つの第2電極とを接続し、
前記第1電極は前記ゲート領域内に設けられ、かつ、前記第2電極は前記蓄積領域内に設けられる、方法。 - 前記移動粒子が電気泳動粒子を有する請求項7記載の方法。
- 当該表示装置がイン・プレイン・スイッチング電気泳動表示装置を有する請求項8記載の方法。
- 各列放電ラインは2つの隣接する画素列の間において共有され、各列放電ラインは前記電荷の流れを行の2つの隣接する画素に放出する請求項7に記載の方法。
