Description
以下、添付された図面を参照しながら、本発明の好ましい実施の形態について詳細に説明する。
Claims (16)
- Rサブピクセル、Gサブピクセル、Bサブピクセル及びECBサブピクセルからなるクォードタイプのセルが形成される液晶表示パネルと;
所定の第1〜第nECB輝度データの中の1つのECB輝度データと、前記液晶表示パネルのセル位置情報とが対応するようにマッピングして設定された第1〜第nルックアップテーブルを格納する記憶手段と;
入力されたRGBデータを用いて、1フレームの間に前記液晶表示パネルに示されるイメージの輝度データ分布を算出するイメージ処理手段と;
前記算出された輝度データ分布を参照して、前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルの中の1つのルックアップテーブルを選択する視野角制御手段と;
前記視野角制御手段によって選択されたルックアップテーブルから出力されたECB輝度データと、前記入力されたRGBデータとを混合した後、混合されたRGBデータとECBデータとを前記クォードタイプのセル構造に合わせて整列して出力するデータ整列手段と;
を備えた液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルは、前記視野角制御手段によって択一的に選択されて、自身に設定されているECB輝度データを前記データ整列手段に出力することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記イメージ処理手段は、1フレームの間に示される全体イメージの輝度データを前記入力されたRGBデータから検出した後、検出した輝度データを用いて全体イメージの輝度データ分布を算出し、前記視野角制御手段に出力することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記イメージ処理手段は、1フレームの間に前記入力されたRGB入力データによって示される全体イメージの中から特定領域のイメージをサンプリングし、サンプリングしたイメージの輝度データを検出した後、検出した輝度データを用いて、特定領域に示されるイメージの輝度データ分布を算出し、前記視野角制御手段に出力することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記視野角制御手段は、前記第1〜第nECB輝度データと対応するように、同一の輝度値を有する所定の第1〜第n基準輝度データを格納していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記視野角制御手段は、前記算出された輝度データ分布と前記所定の第1〜第n基準輝度データとを比べて、前記算出された輝度データ分布と同一であるか、あるいは近似値に当たる基準輝度データを見出すことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記視野角制御手段は、前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルのうち、前記見出した基準輝度データと同一のECB輝度データが設定されているルックアップテーブルを選択することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記データ整列手段は、前記入力されたRGBデータと、前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルのうち、前記視野角制御手段によって選択されたルックアップテーブルから出力されたECB輝度データとを混合するための混合器と;
前記混合器によって混合されたRGBデータとECB輝度データとを、前記クォードタイプのセル構造に合わせて整列して出力するためのデータ整列部と;
を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - Rサブピクセル、Gサブピクセル、Bサブピクセル及びECBサブピクセルからなるクォードタイプのセルが形成される液晶表示パネルと;
入力されたRGBデータを用いてイメージの輝度データ分布を算出し、算出された輝度データ分布を参照して、所定の第1〜第nECB輝度データの中の1つのECB輝度データを選択した後、選択したECB輝度データと前記入力されたRGBデータとを、前記クォードタイプのセル構造に合わせて整列して出力するタイミングコントローラと;
前記タイミングコントローラの制御に応じて、前記タイミングコントローラから出力されるデジタルRGBデータとECBデータとをアナログデータに変換して前記液晶表示パネルに供給するためのデータ駆動部と;
前記タイミングコントローラの制御に応じて、前記クォードタイプのセルのうち、前記データ駆動部から出力されるRGBデータとECBデータとが供給されるセルを選択して駆動させるためのゲート駆動部と;
を備え、
前記タイミングコントローラは、所定の第1〜第nECB輝度データの中の1つのECB輝度データと、前記液晶表示パネルのセル位置情報とが対応するようにマッピングして設定された第1〜第nルックアップテーブルを格納する記憶手段と;
入力されたRGBデータを用いて、1フレームの間に前記液晶表示パネルに示されるイメージの輝度データ分布を算出するためのイメージ処理手段と;
前記算出された輝度データ分布を参照して、前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルの中の1つのルックアップテーブルを選択するための視野角制御手段と;
前記視野角制御手段によって選択されたルックアップテーブルから出力されたECB輝度データと、前記入力されたRGBデータとを混合した後、混合されたRGBデータとECBデータとを前記クォードタイプのセル構造に合わせて整列して出力するためのデータ整列手段と;
を含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルは、前記視野角制御手段によって択一的に選択されて、自身に設定されているECB輝度データを前記データ整列手段に出力することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記イメージ処理手段は、1フレームの間に示される全体イメージの輝度データを前記入力されたRGBデータから検出した後、検出した輝度データを用いて全体イメージの輝度データ分布を算出し、前記視野角制御手段に出力することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記イメージ処理手段は、1フレームの間に前記入力されたRGB入力データによって示される全体イメージの中から特定領域のイメージをサンプリングし、サンプリングしたイメージの輝度データを検出した後、検出した輝度データを用いて、特定領域に示されるイメージの輝度データ分布を算出し、前記視野角制御手段に出力することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記視野角制御手段は、前記第1〜第nECB輝度データと対応するように、同一の輝度値を有する所定の第1〜第n基準輝度データを格納していることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記視野角制御手段は、前記算出された輝度データ分布と前記所定の第1〜第n基準輝度データとを比べて、前記算出された輝度データ分布と同一であるか、あるいは近似値に当たる基準輝度データを見出すことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記視野角制御手段は、前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルのうち、前記見出した基準輝度データと同一のECB輝度データが設定されているルックアップテーブルを選択することを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記データ整列手段は、前記入力されたRGBデータと、前記第1〜第nルックアップテーブルのうち、前記視野角制御手段によって選択されたルックアップテーブルから出力されたECB輝度データとを混合するための混合器と;
前記混合器によって混合されたRGBデータとECB輝度データとを、前記クォードタイプのセル構造に合わせて整列して出力するためのデータ整列部を含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
