Claims (8)
- 透明画素電極を含む下基板と、
上基板と、
前記下基板と前記上基板との間に提供された液晶層と、
前記上基板の前記液晶層に面した側の上に設けられ、前記液晶層を介して前記画素電極を照射する光源であり、当該光源は、不透明電極層と、前記不透明電極層の前記液晶層に面した側の上のOLED層と、前記OLED層の前記液晶層に面した側の上の透明電極層とを含み、前記不透明電極層、前記透明電極層及び前記OLED層の全てがパターン化されて複数の光源部を定義する、光源と、
前記光源に物理的に接触して前記上基板上に設けられた偏光板と、
前記透明画素電極が存在しない側の表面で前記下基板上に設けられた外部反射体と、
を含むディスプレイ装置。 - 前記光源は、複数の帯状を含み、表示画素の各行に関連した1つまたは1つ以上の帯状を有する請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記光源は、白色光出力を提供する請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記上基板は更にカラーフィルタ構成を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記下基板は更にカラーフィルタ構成を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記上基板は更に、前記液晶層の制御のための共通電極を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記下基板は、前記透明画素電極と関連したアクティブマトリクス画素回路と、前記画素回路に接続する行と列アドレス導線とを更に含む請求項1に記載の装置。
- ディスプレイ装置を設けるステップであり、前記ディスプレイ装置は、上基板、下基板、液晶層、偏光板、外部反射体、及び光源を有し、前記下基板は透明画素電極を含み、前記液晶層は前記下基板と前記上基板との間にあり、前記光源は、前記液晶層を介して表示電極を照射するよう前記上基板上に設けられ、前記光源は、不透明電極層と、前記不透明電極層の前記液晶層に面した側の上のOLED層と、前記OLED層の前記液晶層に面した側の上の透明電極層とを含み、前記不透明電極層、前記透明電極層及び前記OLED層の全てがパターン化されて複数の光源部を定義し、前記偏光板は前記上基板上にあって前記光源に物理的に接触し、前記外部反射体は、前記透明画素電極が存在しない側の表面で前記下基板上に位置する、設けるステップと、
高い周辺光の状況下で、前記下基板に提供された反射型表示画素電極からの反射された周辺光を用いて表示出力を提供し、前記反射された周辺光が、光を変調する前記液晶層と、前記上基板とを通過するステップと、
低い周辺光の状況下で、前記上基板に提供された前記光源を操作し、前記液晶層を介して前記表示電極を照射するステップであり、前記光源は、前面バックライトとして機能するよう駆動され、あるいは、個別の行又はバンドに分割されて駆動される、照射するステップと、を含むディスプレイ装置の制御方法。
