Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fountain solution composition for lithographic printing, and more specifically to a fountain solution composition for lithographic printing that is preferably used in an offset printing method, particularly in a heat-set-off wheel printing method.
Lithographic printing is a printing method that skillfully uses the property that water and oil do not essentially mix, and the printing plate surface consists of an area that receives water and repels oil-based ink, and an area that repels water and receives oil-based ink. The former is a non-image area, and the latter is an image area. The non-image area is moistened with the fountain solution to increase the interfacial chemical difference between the image area and the non-image area, thereby increasing the ink repellency of the non-image area and the ink receptivity of the image area. Made.
A lithographic printing machine is usually an offset printing system, and ink and fountain solution are supplied onto the plate, ink is deposited on the image area, and fountain solution is deposited on the non-image area. The image on the plate is printed by transferring to a blanket and then transferring from the blanket to paper. At this time, when continuous printing is performed for a long time, a problem of so-called “blanket piling” occurs in which the ink component and the paper component are gradually deposited on the non-image portion on the blanket. In particular, lithographic offset rotary printing (off-wheel printing) is characterized by being capable of continuous operation for a long period of time and high productivity. However, this blanket piling is likely to occur.
Blanket piling is easy to deposit as the ink in the image area is pushed out especially on the back side of the rotation (the end of the grip), and the deposit inhibits the ink transfer from the blanket to the paper, causing the ink to deposit poorly. It becomes. In order to remove the deposits, printing must be stopped and the blanket must be cleaned. The increase in waste paper and the reduction in productivity are extremely large, and improvements have been desired.
As a technique for improving blanket piling, for example, a lithographic offset rotary printing ink composition containing 1 to 5% by mass of lanolin having an acid value of less than 1.0 has been proposed (see Patent Document 1), and specific adhesion There has been proposed a pigment-coated paper for offset printing, which is obtained by coating a coating liquid composition that defines the ratio of the agent and the pigment (see Patent Document 2).
However, for the desire to print on a wide variety of inks and papers, the constraint that specific inks or papers must be used is not satisfactory, and improvement of blanket piling has still been a major problem.
Conventionally known fountain solutions include alkali metal salts or ammonium salts of dichromic acid, phosphoric acid or salts thereof such as colloidal substances such as ammonium salts, gum arabic, and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). There is an aqueous solution added. However, the fountain solution containing only these compounds has the disadvantage that it is difficult to uniformly wet the non-image area of the plate, so that the printed matter sometimes gets soiled, and considerable skill is required to adjust the supply amount of the fountain solution. It has become a problem such as requiring.
In order to remedy this drawback, a Dahlglen system has been proposed in which an aqueous solution containing about 20 to 25% of isopropyl alcohol is used as a fountain solution. According to this method, the wetness to the non-image area is improved, the amount of dampening water is small, the balance between the supply amount of printing ink and water is easy to adjust, and the dampening water into the printing ink There are a number of advantages in terms of workability and accuracy of the obtained printed matter, such as a reduced emulsification amount and improved transferability of printing ink to the blanket. However, since this isopropyl alcohol is easy to evaporate, a special device for keeping the isopropyl alcohol concentration of the dampening solution constant is necessary, which is expensive in terms of price. In addition, isopropyl alcohol has a peculiar unpleasant odor and has problems in toxicity, which is not preferable in the working environment. In addition, even if this fountain solution to which isopropyl alcohol is added is applied to offset printing using a normal water supply roller, isopropyl alcohol evaporates on the roller and the plate surface, so that the effect cannot be exhibited. It was.
As dampening water not containing isopropyl alcohol, for example, dampening water containing a specific propylene glycol-based compound (see Patent Document 3) or dampening water containing a compound obtained by adding ethylene oxide and propylene oxide to ethylenediamine ( Patent Documents 4 and 5) and a fountain solution containing a compound obtained by adding ethylene oxide and propylene oxide to diethylenetriamine (see Patent Document 6) have been proposed. However, all of these still tend to cause blanket piling, and improvement has been desired.
On the other hand, a technique for improving wettability with respect to a plate cylinder has been proposed by using a fountain solution containing natural collagen / elastin soluble in a weakly acidic aqueous medium as a water-soluble organic polymer (see Patent Document 7). Further, among these, the long-chain (n ≧ 6) non-polymeric alcohol and / or the alkanediol containing a hydroxyl group at the (1,2)-or (1,3) -position further increases the wettability. An improvement is disclosed. However, no attention has been paid to improvements related to blanket piling.
The object of the present invention is to provide means for improving blanket piling, and in particular to provide means for improving blanket piling from the standpoint of a fountain solution composition.

In the composition forming the photosensitive layer, an alkali-soluble resin other than the alkali-soluble novolak resin can be blended as necessary. For example, styrene-acrylic acid copolymer, methyl methacrylate-methacrylic acid copolymer, alkali-soluble polyurethane resin, alkali-soluble vinyl resin described in JP-B-52-28401, alkali-soluble polybutyral resin, and the like. it can. Further, a PS plate having a photosensitive layer of a photopolymerizable photopolymer composition as described in US Pat. Nos. 4,072,528 and 4,072,527 on an aluminum plate, British Patent Nos. 1,235,281 and A PS plate having a photosensitive layer made of a mixture of an azide and a water-soluble polymer on an aluminum plate as described in each specification of No. 1,495,861 is also preferable.
Furthermore, it can be suitably used for a CTP plate that is directly exposed with a visible or infrared laser. Specific examples include a photopolymer type digital plate (for example, LP-NX manufactured by Fuji Film Co., Ltd.), a thermal positive type digital plate (for example, LH-PI manufactured by Fuji Film Co., Ltd.), printing performed with dampening water and ink. Examples include an on-press developing plate (for example, ET-S manufactured by Fuji Film Co., Ltd.) and a thermal negative type digital plate (for example, LH-NI manufactured by Fuji Film Co., Ltd.).

For each fountain solution composition, using a Lithron 26 printer manufactured by Komori Corporation, Toyo Ink Co., Ltd. ink: Super Leo Echo SOY Ink L, Oji Paper Co., Ltd. fine coated paper: The following evaluation was performed after printing 20000 sheets with OK Top Coat +, Fuji Film Co., Ltd. plate: PN-V.
(1) Blanket piling evaluation After printing is completed, the blanket is removed, and the height of the deposit on the non-image area is measured with a stylus type surface roughness meter (surf coder). Evaluation was made relative to water. A smaller value indicates a lower height of the pile.
(2) Decrease rate of halftone dot area In the 40% halftone dot area image area, the halftone dot area rate was measured with a reflection densitometer D19C manufactured by Gretag Macbeth Co., Ltd. at the start and at the end of printing 20000 sheets. The reduction rate of the dot area ratio at the end of printing relative to the start time was obtained.
Decrease rate = (dot area ratio at start-dot area ratio at the end of printing) / dot area ratio at start × 100
A smaller decrease rate indicates that printing performance can be stably obtained, which is preferable.
(3) Water supply roller stains After printing, the water supply roller stains were visually observed and ranked as follows.
○: Slightly dirty Δ: Slightly dirty ×: Clearly dirty The results are shown in Table 1.

From the results in Table 1, it can be seen that when a diol compound is added according to the present invention, blanket piling is remarkably suppressed, and the decrease in the dot area ratio after printing is reduced. Further, the contamination of the water supply roller is not worsened. Of the diol compounds used in the present invention, the compounds (7) and (10) are particularly preferred.
In Examples 5 and 6, when 50 to 200 concentrated solutions of the working solution were prepared and diluted with tap water to prepare and use the working solution, it was confirmed that the same effects as described above were obtained.
[Examples 9 to 18]
In Example 6, the experiment was conducted in exactly the same manner except that propylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether and propylene glycol were replaced with the compounds shown in Table 2 below. In Example 18, isopropyl alcohol was used, and the amount added was increased to 15 times (ie 7.5%) the amount of compound used in the other examples (0.5%). In Example 18, unless the amount of isopropyl alcohol added was increased in this way, there was a tendency for ink to adhere to the non-image area on the printed matter and cause stains even when the water scale was increased. The results are shown in Table 2.
