他方、クレープを施すことにより汚れ掻き取り性が向上する。しかし、本発明では柔軟性が向上するため(特に柔軟剤を用いた場合はなおさらである)、通常用いられているクレープ加工ではクレープが細かくなり、掻き取り性が低下する。また、紙粉が発生し易くなるおそれもある。そこで、本項記載のように、クレープ率を20〜40%とし、クレーピングドクターの接触角を115〜140度とすることで、粗いクレープを施す。この場合、クレープ加工に起因する紙粉の発生も極めて少なくなる利点がある。
