【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、燃料電池スタックを通り抜ける余剰ガスを再循環させた燃料電池発電システムに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、燃料電池発電システムとしては、図4に示す構成のものが知られている。

図中の符番1,2は、燃料電池スタックを示す。これら燃料電池スタック1,2の燃料極の下流側には、H2再循環ブロワ3を介装した配管4aを介して加湿器5が接続されている。この加湿器5には、H2ボンベ6が接続されている。前記加湿器5は、配管4bを介して前記燃料電池スタック1,2の燃料極の上流側に夫々接続されている。前記各燃料電池スタック1,2の空気極の上流側には、空気ブロワ7が接続されている。

前記各燃料電池スタック1,2の上流側には、循環水タンク(冷却水タンク)8が、水ポンプ9,冷却器10を介装した配管4cを介して接続されている。また、各燃料電池スタック1,2の下流側には、配管4dを介して前記循環水タンク8が接続されている。これにより、冷却水が水ポンプ、冷却器10、燃料電池スタック1,2を循環するようになっている。更に、前記燃料電池スタック1,2の空気極の下流側には、配管4eを介して煙突21に接続されている。

こうした構成の燃料電池発電システムにおいて、H2ボンベ6からのH2ガスは加湿器5を経て、各燃料電池スタック1,2の燃料極側に供給され、空気ブロワ7からの空気は各燃料電池スタック1,2の空気極側に供給され、各燃料電池スタック1,2で電池反応が行なわれる。一方、循環水タンク8からは冷却水が水ポンプ9、冷却器10を経て、各燃料電池スタック1,2へ送られ、電池反応により生ずる反応熱を抑制する働きをする。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、従来の燃料電池発電システムにおいては、H2再循環ブロワ3の使用によりブロワの安全性(リークの恐れ、電気による爆発)等に問題があった。また、加湿器5と循環水タンク8を別々に設置しなければならず、コスト高となる。

本発明はこうした事情を考慮してなされたもので、燃料電池スタックの下流側にエジェクタを設け、このエジェクタにより燃料電池スタックを通り抜ける余剰ガスを再循環させることにより、余剰ガスを有効に利用しえるとともに、安全でコスト安の燃料電池発電システムを提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明者は、燃料電池発電システムにおける燃料電池では、燃料や酸化剤を余剰に供給すると、電池性能が良くなるので、本来余った燃料や酸化剤は燃料電池の入り口へ戻すことが好ましいということに基づいて、本発明を究明する至った。

即ち、本発明は、複数個の燃料電池スタックと、前記複数個の燃料電池スタックの下流側のそれぞれに設けられたエジェクタと、これらエジェクタに接続された気水分離器と、前記気水分離器に接続された水ポンプと、前記水ポンプと前記燃料電池スタック間に設けられた冷却器と、前記気水分離器を介して前記複数個の燃料電池スタックのそれぞれに燃料を供給する燃料供給手段と、前記燃料電池スタックに酸化剤を供給する酸化剤供給手段とを具備し、前記冷却器を通過した水が前記複数個の燃料電池スタックにそれぞれ供給され、前記燃料電池スタックを通過したそれぞれの水が、前記複数個の燃料電池スタックのそれぞれの下流に設けられた前記エジェクタにそれぞれ供給され、前記各エジェクタにより前記各燃料電池スタックを通り抜ける余剰ガスを同一の前記気水分離器に再循環させることを特徴とする燃料電池発電システムである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明について詳述する。
本発明において、燃料電池スタックの下流側にエジェクタを設けるが、燃料電池スタックが複数個存在する場合は、各燃料電池スタックの下流側に夫々エジェクタを設けることが好ましい。これは、エジェクタを共有すると、各燃料電池スタックの負荷バランスが悪化するためである。つまり、図3に示すように、気水分離器15、燃料電池スタック11、12を経たH2ガスを共有のエジェクタ22に送ると、水の等分配は比較的容易であるが、H2ガスの等分配の調整が水の場合と比較して困難であるからである。従って、本発明では、各燃料電池スタックごとにエジェクタを夫々配置した。なお、図3では便宜上空気の流れを省略した。また、付番17は水ポンプを示す。

なお、上記エジェクタとは、水をノズルより高速にて吹き出すことによって周囲のガスを吸引して排出する装置である。一般に燃料電池発電システムでは、スタック温度を保持するために循環水を常時回している。本発明は、こうした観点に基づいてなされたもので、この水とエジェクタを利用することによってガスの循環能力を双方等しくしようとした。

本発明において、エジェクタは燃料電池スタックの燃料側に位置する下流あるいは空気極に位置する下流側のいずれに配置してもよい。

【実施例】
以下、本発明の一実施例に係る燃料電池発電システムついて図1及び図2を参照して説明する。ここで、図1は同燃料電池発電システムの全体図、図2は図1のシステムの一構成要素であるエジェクタの断面図を示す。

図中の符番11,12は、燃料電池スタックを示す。これら燃料電池スタック11,12の下流側でかつ燃料極側には、エジェクタ13,14が夫々配置されている。ここで、エジェクタ13(又は14)は、水をノズルより高速に噴出すことによって周囲のガス(H2ガス)を吸引して排出する機能を有するもので、図2に示すようにノズル部31とスロート部32とディヒューザ部33とから構成されている。各エジェクタ13,14には、気水分離器15が接続されている。

前記気水分離器15には、H2ボンベ16が接続されている。前記気水分離器15は、前記燃料電池スタック11,12の燃料極側に夫々接続されている。この気水分離器15では、H2ガスは配管19aを通過して燃料電池スタックの燃料極側に供給され、水は冷却水として配管19bを通過して燃料電池スタック11,12に供給される。また、前記気水分離器15と燃料電池スタック11,12とは、水ポンプ17、冷却器18を介装した配管19bを介して接続されている。前記各燃料電池スタック11,12の空気極側には、空気ブロワ20が接続されている。なお、図中の符番21は煙突を示す。

こうした構成の燃料電池発電システムにおいて、H2ボンベ16からのH 2 ガスは気水分離器15を経て、各燃料電池スタック11,12の燃料極側に供給され、空気ブロワ20からの空気は各燃料電池スタック11,12の空気極側に供給され、各燃料電池スタック11,12で電池反応が行なわれる。一方、気水分離器15からは水が水ポンプ17、冷却器18を経て、各燃料電池スタック11,12へ送られ、電池反応により生ずる反応熱を抑制する働きをする。燃料電池スタック11,12を通過したH2ガスと冷却用の水は、夫々エジェクタ13,14を経て気水分離器15へ送られる。エジェクタ13,14では、冷却水を高速に吹き出すことによって周囲のH2ガス23を吸引して二相流として排出される。一方、燃料電池スタック11,12の空気極側から排出した空気は煙突21より排気される。

このように、上記実施例によれば、各燃料電池スタック11,12の下流側でかつ燃料極側にエジェクタ13,14を夫々配置した構成とすることにより、余剰ガスの再循環が可能となり、余剰ガスの有効利用を図ることができる。また、各燃料電池スタック11,12ごとにエジェクタ13,14が配置されているため、燃料電池スタック11,12への負荷をバランス良く保つことができる。

なお、上記実施例では、燃料電池スタックの下流側で燃料極側にエジェクタを夫々配置した場合について述べたが、これに限らず、燃料電池スタックの下流側でかつ空気極側に夫々エジェクタを配置してもよい。また、燃料電池スタックも上記実施例のように2個に限らず、3個以上配置し、これに応じてエジェクタも夫々燃料電池スタックの下流側に配置してもよい。

以上詳述したように本発明によれば、燃料電池スタックの下流側にエジェクタを設け、このエジェクタにより燃料電池スタックで生じた余剰ガスを再循環させることにより、余剰ガスを有効に利用しえるとともに、安全でコスト安の燃料電池発電システムを提供できる。
