Description
Claims (9)
- 制御可能なLC(液晶)層;
主方向に延在する多数のシリンドリカルレンズを有する複屈折レンズ層;及び
回転子層;
前記複屈折レンズ層からの光線を受光し、これらの光線に可変量の偏光ねじれを供する切り替え可能な複屈折層;
を有し、
前記回転子層は前記LC層から受光した光線の偏光方向を回転させる偏光ねじれを与え、
前記偏光ねじれが与えられることにより、前記光線の偏光方向が前記主方向と平行となるか又は垂直となるかの切り替えが行われ、前記複屈折レンズ層は前記光線をその偏光方向に依存してそれぞれ異なるように屈折させ、
複屈折補償層が前記複屈折レンズ層と前記切り替え可能な複屈折層との間に設けられ、前記複屈折補償層は前記回転子層の偏光変化と実質的に同じ大きさで、かつそれとは方向が反対の偏光変化を供する、
ディスプレイ素子。 - 前記複屈折補償層のリターデーション値が前記回転子層のリターデーション値と実質的に等しい、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ素子。
- 前記複屈折補償層の偏光ねじれが前記回転子層の前記偏光ねじれと実質的に同じ大きさで、かつ前記回転子層の前記偏光ねじれとは方向が反対である、請求項1又は2に記載のディスプレイ素子。
- 前記複屈折補償層の背面光学軸が前記回転子層の前面光学軸と垂直である、請求項1から3までのいずれかに記載のディスプレイ素子。
- 前記切り替え可能な複屈折層のリターデーション値が前記LC層のリターデーション値と実質的に等しい、上記請求項のうちのいずれかに記載のディスプレイ素子。
- 前記切り替え可能な複屈折層の前記偏光ねじれが、前記LC層の偏光ねじれと実質的に同じ大きさで、かつ前記LC層の前記偏光ねじれとは方向が反対である、上記請求項のうちのいずれかに記載のディスプレイ素子。
- 前記切り替え可能な複屈折層の背面光学軸が前記LC層の前面光学軸と垂直である、上記請求項のうちのいずれかに記載のディスプレイ素子。
- 前記切り替え可能な複屈折層が各独立して制御可能な複数の副領域を有する、上記請求項のうちのいずれかに記載のディスプレイ素子。
- 2D-3D切り替え可能ディスプレイである、上記請求項のうちのいずれかに記載のディスプレイ素子であって、前記主方向がほぼ垂直方向である、ディスプレイ素子。
