Description
本願は、2004年8月24日に出願された米国特許出願第10/924,525号(発明の名称:FIBER OPTIC RECEPTACLE AND PLUG ASSEMBLIES)の一部継続出願である。
本発明は、概略的には、光ファイバを相互接続する組立体に関し、詳細に、光ファイバ通信ネットワーク内で光ファイバを相互接続する位置合わせ(アライメント)及びキー結合特徴部を備えた光ファイバレセプタクルと光ファイバプラグの組立体に関する。
Claims (15)
- 光ファイバレセプタクルと光ファイバプラグの組立体であって、
接続端子の壁を貫通して設けられた開口部内に設けられるように構成された光ファイバレセプタクルであって、キーとキースロットの一方から成る位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を有するレセプタクルと、
光ファイバケーブルの端部に取り付けられた光ファイバプラグであって、前記プラグを所定の向きで前記レセプタクルに嵌合させるようにするために前記キー及び前記キースロットの他方から成る第1の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を備えた光ファイバプラグと、
前記プラグ内に設けられ、少なくとも1つの通路を構成する位置合わせスリーブと、を備え、
該位置合わせスリーブが、前記プラグが前記レセプタクルと嵌合したとき前記レセプタクルの位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部と係合することができる、前記キーとキースロットの他方を含む第2の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を備え、
前記第1及び第2の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部が互いに連通している、
ことを特徴とする光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記プラグは、前記第1の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を備えた外側ハウジングを有する、
請求項1に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルの前記位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部はキーであり、
前記ハウジング及び前記位置合わせスリーブのそれぞれの前記第1及び前記第2の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部は各々、キースロットである、
請求項2に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルは、第1の端部、第2の端部、前記第1の端部と前記第2との間の中間に設けられた肩部分、及び前記第1の端部と前記肩部分との間に少なくとも部分的に設けられたねじ山付き部分を有し、前記プラグは、前記肩部分を前記接続端子の前記壁の内面に当接させた状態で固定するよう前記レセプタクルの前記ねじ山付き部分に係合するねじ山付き結合ナットを有する、
請求項1に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルの前記位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部は、前記位置合わせスリーブにより構成された前記通路内で少なくとも1つのレセプタクルフェルールを少なくとも1つのプラグフェルールと対向して位置合わせするようにする、
請求項1に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルフェルール及び前記プラグフェルールは各々、SC、LC、MT−RJ、MTP及びSC−DCフェルールから成る群から選択され、前記レセプタクルフェルールと前記プラグフェルールは、同一の形状を有する、
請求項5に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルフェルール及び前記プラグフェルールは各々、アングルドフィジカルコンタクト(Angled Physical Contact:APC)フェルールであり、前記レセプタクルの前記位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部は、互いに対向したAPCレセプタクルフェルール
とAPCプラグフェルールを正しく位置合わせした状態で前記プラグと前記レセプタクルを嵌合させる、
請求項6に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 光ファイバレセプタクルと光ファイバプラグの組立体であって、
接続端子の壁を貫通して形成された開口部内に設けられるように構成された光ファイバレセプタクルを備え、
該光ファイバレセプタクルが、
互いに反対側に位置する第1の端部と第2の端部を貫通して開口した内部キャビティを構成するレセプタクルハウジングであって、該レセプタクルハウジングが、キーとキースロットの一方から成る位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部と、
前記レセプタクルを前記接続端子の前記壁の内面に当接させた状態で固定することができる肩とを有するレセプタクルハウジングと、少なくとも1つのレセプタクルフェルールを前記ハウジングの前記キャビティ内に保持するフェルールリテーナとを有し、
前記レセプタクルは、前記少なくとも1つのレセプタクルフェルールを前記レセプタクルハウジングの前記第1の端部に向けて付勢するよう前記フェルールリテーナに作動的に係合する少なくとも1つの付勢部材を更に有し、
前記組立体がさらに、
前記レセプタクルと嵌合するように構成された光ファイバプラグを備え、
該光ファイバプラグが、
プラグ内側ハウジングと、
前記プラグ内側ハウジングの周りに設けられたプラグ外側ハウジングであって、前記プラグを前記レセプタクルに嵌合させると、前記レセプタクルの前記位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部に係合する、前記キー及び前記キースロットの他方から成る第1の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を有するプラグ外側ハウジングと、
少なくとも1つのプラグフェルールを前記プラグ外側ハウジング内に保持することができる位置合わせスリーブであって、前記プラグを前記レセプタクルに嵌合させると、前記レセプタクルの前記位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部に係合する、前記キーとキースロットの他方を含む第2の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を有する位置合わせスリーブと、を備え、
前記第1及び第2の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部が互いに連通している、
ことを特徴とする光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルハウジングは、前記第1の端部と前記肩との間に少なくとも部分的に設けられたねじ山付き部分を有し、
前記プラグは、前記肩を前記接続端子の前記壁の前記内面に当接させた状態で固定するよう前記レセプタクルの前記ねじ山付き部分に係合するねじ山付き結合ナットを有する、 請求項8に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルの前記位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部は、前記位置合わせスリーブにより構成された通路内で前記少なくとも1つのレセプタクルフェルールを前記少なくとも1つのプラグフェルールと対向した状態で位置合わせさせる、
請求項8に記載の光ファイバレセプタクル・プラグ組立体。 - 前記レセプタクルフェルール及び前記プラグフェルールは各々、SC、LC、MT−RJ、MTP及びSC−DCフェルールから成る群から選択され、前記レセプタクルフェルールと前記プラグフェルールは、同一の形状を有する、

内部キャビティと、該内部キャビティ内に配置されたキーとキースロットの一方から成る位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部とを形成し、前記内部キャビティ内に保持される少なくとも1つのレセプタクルフェルールを備えている、光ファイバレセプタクルと、
光ファイバプラグであって、該プラグが前記レセプタクルと嵌合したとき、前記レセプタクルの位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部と係合することができる、前記キー及び前記キースロットの他方から成る第1の相補的な位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を構成するプラグハウジングを備えている光ファイバプラグと、
前記プラグハウジング内に配置され少なくとも1つのフェルールを受け入れることができる少なくとも1つの通路を構成する位置合わせスリーブと、を備え、
該位置合わせスリーブが、該プラグが前記レセプタクルと嵌合したとき前記レセプタクルの位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部と係合することができる、前記キーとキースロットの他方を含む第2の相補的な位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部を備え、
前記第1及び第2の相補形位置合わせ及びキー結合特徴部が互いに連通している、
ことを特徴とする光コネクタ。 - 前記レセプタクルが、さらに、前記プラグが前記レセプタクルに嵌合したとき、フェルールリテーナと作動的に係合し、前記少なくとも1つのレセプタクルフェルールを前記少なくとも1つのプラグフェルールに向けて付勢する少なくとも1つの付勢部材を備えている、
請求項13に記載の光コネクタ。 - 前記レセプタクルの位置合わせおよびキー結合特徴部が、前記位置合わせスリーブによって構成された通路内で、前記少なくとも1つのプラグフェルールに対向した前記少なくとも1つのレセプタクルフェルールの位置合わせを確実にする、
