これらを海浜部の試験個所にてバイブルハンマーにより打設後、一部の継手では、3.5m長で、下20cm、上30cmを除いて2mm厚のポリウレタン重防食塗装を両面に施し、内側部分にエポキシパテを塗布した鋼製カバー部材を、図3のようにフック金具間に取り付け、その上端を鋼矢板の上端部にクランプ冶具を用いて固定した。この後、カバーの鋼材露出部と鋼矢板を溶接した。また、残りの継手では、カバー部材を取り付けず、打設時の状態のままとした。
施工後、6ヶ月経過し、外観の変化を観察した。比較例であるカバー部材を取り付けてない継手部は、錆が発生し、劣化が進行している。それ以外のカバー部材を取り付けた本発明例は、錆の発生も見られず、極めて良好な外観であった。
