Claims (10)
- テーパが施されていないセグメントと先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントとを有する光ファイバと、
前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントの側面に向かって開口する光開口を有する集光デバイスと備え、前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントの外側でありかつ前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントの前記側面に隣接して標本が配置され、そして、前記光ファイバへ光を伝送することで生成されるエバネッセント・フィールドに前記標本が晒されたことに応動して前記標本が放出する光を集光するように、前記光開口が構成され、
前記集光デバイスの前記光開口が、前記光ファイバの端部から放出される光を前記集光デバイスの視野から阻止するように構成されている装置。 - 前記集光デバイスが、前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントによって前記集光デバイスに境界が画定される立体角の外側から受け取る光を阻止するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記集光デバイスが集光した光の強度を測定し、かつ、測定した光強度から前記標本の化学種のラマン・スペクトルもしくはルミネセンス・スペクトルを決定するように構成された分光計をさらに備える請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記光ファイバの前記テーパが施されていないセグメントが単一モード光ファイバとして機能するように構成される、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントの前記側面の一部に配置された内部表面を有する金属層をさらに備え、
前記光ファイバの前記テーパが施されていないセグメントが単一モード光ファイバとして機能するように構成され、そして、
前記光開口が、前記金属層の外部表面に位置する化学種が放出する光を集光するように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。 - 前記標本の近傍の前記先細りのテーパが施された部分の直径が、前記単一モード・ファイバが運ぶようになされた光の波長以下である、請求項5に記載の装置。
- 標本をスペクトル分析する方法であって、
光ファイバの先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントもしくは部分的に非クラッドのセグメントに光が伝搬し、そして前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントもしくは部分的に非クラッドのセグメントの外側で横に隣接して配置された前記標本においてエバネッセント・フィールドを前記光が生成するよう、前記光をクラッド光ファイバに伝送する工程と、
前記光を伝送する工程に応答して、前記標本が集光デバイスの光開口に放出された光を集光する工程とを含み、前記光開口は、前記テーパが施されたセグメントもしくは部分的に非クラッドのセグメントの側面に向かって開口しており、さらに、
前記集光した光の強度を測定する工程を含み、
前記集光デバイスの前記光開口が、前記光ファイバの端部から放出される光を前記集光デバイスの視野から阻止する、方法。 - 前記伝送する工程は前記光ファイバのテーパが施されていないセグメントへ光を伝送するものであり、前記テーパが施されていないセグメントは、光に対して単一モード光ファイバとして動作するよう構成されている、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記集光する工程が、前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントもしくは部分的に非クラッドのセグメントによって集光デバイスに境界が画定される立体角の外側から受け取る光を阻止する方法で実施される、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記光ファイバの前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントもしくは部分的に非クラッドのセグメントが、光ファイバの先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントであり、前記光ファイバの先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントの一部の上に金属層が位置し、
前記伝送する工程によって、前記エバネッセント・フィールドの少なくとも一部を生成する表面プラズモンが前記先細りのテーパが施されたセグメントに沿って伝搬する、請求項8に記載の方法。
