畳の上面を押える上部押えを有する上部フレームと、畳の下面を支える下部テーブルを有する下部フレームとを具備し、
前記上部フレームには、平刺縫いするための針及び針保持作動機構、さらに前記針保持作動機構と連動するミシン送り機構と、それら全てを駆動するための駆動機構をそれぞれ具備し、
前記下部フレームには、縫着用の糸を供給する糸供給機構と、前記縫着用の糸を平刺縫いするための前記針への誘導並びに前記針へ引っ掛けるための糸掛け機構をそれぞれ具備し、
前記上部フレームと前記下部フレームとを接続する部材が、平刺ミシンの背面側で、少なくとも前記上部押えと下部テーブルの間ではミシンの進行方向に薄い板状の部材のみで構成されて、その中に前記駆動機構に前記糸掛け機構を駆動連結する部材が設置され、
