Description

The present invention relates to a bookbinding apparatus in which glue is applied to the back of a sheet bundle and the back and front and back surfaces of the sheet bundle are covered with a cover sheet to produce a booklet, and more particularly to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a facsimile machine, or a printer. The present invention relates to an image forming system including a bookbinding apparatus that is connected and applicable.

As the bookbinding process, a staple binding process and a gluing bookbinding process are known for a single sheet bundle in which printed sheets are stacked.

As a glue binding apparatus, a glue discharge nozzle is used to discharge glue on paper, a glue wheel is installed in the glue storage box, glue is attached to the outer periphery of the rotating glue wheel, and the outer periphery of the glue wheel is brought into contact with the paper. A contact transfer device, a hot melt application device that discharges a mixture of hot melt agent (thermal adhesive) and heated compressed air from a nozzle, and a sheet bundle while heating a tape pre-applied with adhesive glue. A tape applicator for attaching to the back is known.

A cover is pasted on the back side of the sheet bundle that has been glued and transferred to create a booklet that has been covered.

In addition, recent electrophotographic image forming apparatuses have high-speed performance, multi-functions, network functions, etc., and their use as printing apparatuses has been expanded by connecting large-capacity paper feeders and large-capacity stackers. ing.

When an image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic system is used as a printing apparatus, printing to bookbinding can be performed by a single apparatus by connecting a bookbinding apparatus that binds printed matter.

The application roller 51 immersed in the adhesive container 53 containing the adhesive N is rotated by the motor M1 and the rotating means 52 of the adhesive application driving means. The application roller 51 applies the glue N in the longitudinal direction of the lower surface of the sheet bundle Sa held in an upright state by the forward movement or reciprocation of the moving body 54.

<Cover Supply Unit 60>
As shown in FIG. 3, the cover sheet K accommodated in the sheet supply tray 61 of the cover sheet supply means 60 is separated and fed by the sheet supply means 62, and is sandwiched between the transport rollers 63, 64, 65 to be covered with the cover sheet exterior. It is conveyed to the means 80.

<Cover cutting means 70>
FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of the cover cutting means 70 and the cover exterior means 80.

On the upper side of the cover sheet supply means 60, a cover sheet cutting means 70 is integrally formed on the right side of a cover sheet exterior means 80, which will be described later. The cover cutting means 70 cuts the length in the conveyance direction of the cover K to a predetermined length.

The cover sheet cutting means 70 is a roller cutter unit including a rotary blade 71 and a fixed blade 72. The rotary blade 71 rotates while being in sliding contact with the fixed blade, and shears the cover K in the cover width direction. The scrap portion of the sheared cover sheet K falls and is stored in the waste box 73.

The cutting length of the cover sheet K is a length obtained by adding the length of the back portion of the sheet bundle Sa to the length of two sheets in the traveling direction of the sheet S. In the operation unit 9 of the image forming apparatus A, when the paper size, the number of sheets, and the paper thickness are selected and set, or when detection is performed by each detection unit, and further information from an external device such as a computer is received, control is performed. The means sets a predetermined length for cutting the cover sheet K. The length of the cover sheet K before cutting is determined in advance corresponding to the maximum number of sheets.

<Cover cover means 80>
The cover sheet K stored in the sheet supply tray 61 of the cover sheet supply means 60 is separated and fed by the sheet supply means 62, sandwiched between the conveying rollers 63, 64, 65, and introduced into the cover sheet exterior means 80. Then, it is conveyed in the reverse direction and enters the cover cutting means 70. The cover sheet K cut to a predetermined length by the cover sheet cutting means 70 is conveyed again to the cover sheet exterior means 80.

The cover sheet K introduced into the cover sheet exterior means 80 is transported by the transport roller 65, travels along the guide plate 87, passes through the nipping position between the transport roller 81 and the driven roller 883 that are driven to rotate, and is further driven and rotated. Passes through the nipping position between the conveying roller 82 and the driven roller 893.

The motor M2A of the second drive means swings and drives the cover sheet pressing member 88 via a drive transmission system Z1 composed of a belt and a gear train. The motor M2B as the second drive means swings and drives the cover sheet pressing member 89 via a drive transmission system Z2 including a belt and a gear train.

The cover sheet pressing member 88 is rotatably supported by a rotating shaft 881 that can be rotated by being connected to the final gear of the drive transmission system Z1, a lever 882 that is fixed to the rotating shaft 881 and can be swung, and one end of the lever 882. And a driven roller 883.

The cover sheet pressing member 89 is rotatably supported by a rotating shaft 891 that can be rotated by being connected to the final gear of the drive transmission system Z2, a lever 892 that is fixed to the rotating shaft 891 and can be swung, and one end of the lever 892. And a driven roller 893.

When the cover sheet K enters along the guide plate 87 in the cover sheet exterior means 80, the motor M2A starts driving, swings the lever 882, and presses the transport roller 81 that rotates the driven roller 883. . At substantially the same time, the motor M2B starts to drive, swings the lever 892, and presses the driven roller 893 against the conveying roller 82 that rotates.

The cover sheet K entering along the guide plate 87 is nipped and conveyed by the conveyance roller 81 and the driven roller 883 on the upstream side in the conveyance direction, and is subsequently nipped by the conveyance roller 82 and the driven roller 893 on the downstream side in the conveyance direction. After being conveyed, it is stopped at a predetermined position.

FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view of the front cover exterior means 80 immediately before the upper limit position.

While the cover K placed on the cover cover means 80 is moved to the vicinity of the paste application processing surface by the first drive means of the cover cover means 80, the cover press members 88 and 89 are shaken by the motor M3 of the first drive means. The cover K is pressed and held. As a result, the cover K is prevented from moving during the movement of the cover cover means 80, and is accurately adhered to the glue application surface of the sheet bundle Sa.

FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view showing the upper limit position of the cover sheet exterior means 80.

When the detection means PS detects that the cover sheet K is close to the glue application surface of the sheet bundle Sa, the cover sheet pressing members 88 and 89 release the cover sheet pressing by the motors M2A and M2B.

<Driving member drive>
FIG. 9 is a cross-sectional view of the first bent member 86A and the second bent member 86B. FIG. 10 is a plan view showing driving means for the first bending member 86A and the second bending member 86B.

The first bending member 86 </ b> A slides in contact with the pair of cams 111 and 112 arranged in the width direction of the cover sheet K and moves in a direction orthogonal to the width direction of the cover sheet K.

A rotating shaft 113 of the cam 111 is rotated by a gear 114 connected to a driving source (not shown). The rotation by the gear 114 rotates the gear 116 via the belt 115 wound around the pulley, and rotates the gear 117 engaged with the gear 116. The gear 117 rotates the cam 112 fixed on the axis of the rotating shaft 118. The cams 111 and 112, the drive source, and the drive transmission means are referred to as first drive means.

The first bending member 86 </ b> A slides in contact with the pair of cams 111 and 112 arranged in the width direction of the cover sheet K and moves in a direction orthogonal to the width direction of the cover sheet K. The stroke in the radial direction of the cams 111 and 112 is a distance L1 (for example, 15 mm) described later.

The rotating shaft 123 of the cam 121 is rotated by a gear 124 connected to a driving source (not shown). The rotation by the gear 124 rotates the gear 126 via the belt 125 wound around the pulley, and rotates the gear 127 that meshes with the gear 126. The gear 127 rotates the cam 122 fixed on the rotation shaft 128. The cams 121 and 122, the drive source, and the drive transmission means are referred to as second drive means.

The second bending member 86B slides in contact with the pair of cams 121 and 122 arranged in the width direction of the cover sheet K and moves in a direction orthogonal to the width direction of the cover sheet K. The stroke of the cams 121 and 122 in the radial direction is a distance L2 (for example, 45 mm) described later.

<Bending the cover>
FIG. 11 is a cross-sectional view showing the cover K folding process.

FIG. 11A shows the initial position of cover cover folding. The sheet bundle Sa to which the glue has been applied is held by the fixed-side holding member 41A and the moving-side holding member 41B of the holding unit 41, and comes into contact with the cover sheet K placed on the cover cover exterior unit 80.

At this time, the cover sheet pressing surface XA of the first bending member 86A stands by at a position separated by a distance L1 (for example, 15 mm) from the sheet bundle gripping surface Y (hereinafter referred to as the reference plane Y) of the fixed-side gripping member 41A. ing. Further, the cover sheet pressure contact surface XB of the second bending member 86B stands by at a position separated from the reference surface Y of the fixed-side gripping member 41A by a distance L2 (for example, 45 mm). This distance L2 is a position separated by a distance L1 (for example, 15 mm) from the maximum thickness Tmax of the sheet bundle Sa capable of case binding processing. The maximum thickness Tmax corresponds to, for example, the thickness (for example, 30 mm) of the sheet bundle Sa in which about 300 sheets S of 80 g / m 2 are bundled.

FIG. 11B shows the cover folding start position. The sheet bundle Sa is gripped and lowered by the fixed gripping member 41A and the movable gripping member 41B, and the pressure member 83 is pressed down to stop at the folding start position. At this time, the second folding member 86B is moved by the rotating cams 121 and 122, and reaches the cover folding start position separated from the reference plane Y by a distance L3 (for example, 25 mm). This distance L3 is the sum (T + L1) of the sheet bundle thickness (for example, 10 mm) T and the above-mentioned distance L1 (for example, 15 mm). Therefore, the cover sheet pressing surface XA of the first bending member 86A and the cover sheet pressing surface XB of the second bending member 86B are located at equal distances (L1 = L4) from both side surfaces of the sheet bundle Sa.

The sheet bundle thickness T is obtained by detecting the load current value of a motor (not shown) that drives the movable gripping member 41B when the movable gripping member 41B presses the sheet bundle Sa. Alternatively, the sheet bundle thickness T can be obtained by detecting the movement distance of the movement-side gripping member 41B with an encoder when the movement-side gripping member 41B presses the sheet bundle Sa.

FIG. 11C shows a cover folding end position. When the second folding member 86B reaches the cover folding start position by the rotation of the cams 121 and 122, the cams 111 and 112 start to rotate, the first folding member 86A moves the distance L1, and the cover pressing surface XA One side surface of the sheet bundle Sa in contact with the reference surface Y is pressed through the cover sheet K. The second bending member 86B continues to move the distance L1 by the rotation of the cams 121 and 122, and presses the side surface of the sheet bundle Sa.

The final position where the first bending member 86A and the second bending member 86B press and stop the sheet bundle Sa via the cover sheet K individually drives the first bending member 86A and the second bending member 86B. It is obtained by detecting the load current value of the motor (not shown) of the driving means that performs this. Alternatively, it is obtained by detecting the sheet bundle thickness T by the movement of the movable gripping member 41B.

In the present embodiment, the first folding member 86A has the same initial position and cover folding start position. However, the present embodiment is not limited to this embodiment, and the first folding member 86A may also be configured to move a predetermined distance from the initial position to the cover folding start position. However, this configuration is preferable because it can be simplified in terms of configuration and control.

Further, as another embodiment, the first bending member 86A and the second bending member 86B may be configured to start moving simultaneously from the initial position at different moving speeds according to the moving distances. .

Further, in the present embodiment, after the second bending member 86B reaches the cover folding start position from the initial position, the movement of the second bending member 86B is continuously started. However, the second folding member 86B may also be a member that once stops at the cover folding start position and then resumes movement simultaneously with the start of movement of the first folding member 86A. Thereby, more accurate drive control becomes possible.

Further, in the present embodiment, a single-sided reference format is used in which one of the front and rear surfaces of the sheet bundle is a reference surface, but the first folding member 86A is based on the center position in the thickness direction of the sheet bundle. And the second bent member 86B can be applied to an apparatus in which the moving distance from the initial position is equal in design. In such an apparatus, by controlling each bending member individually, it becomes possible to compensate for the difference in the movement distance that occurs during assembly or revelation.
