Description
The present invention relates to a technique for supporting a process until a painted surface intended by a designer is actually obtained, and obtaining the intended painted surface in a short period of time.
The paint is roughly classified into a solid paint mainly composed of a color pigment and a metallic paint mainly composed of a color pigment and a bright material. The painted surface with solid paint appears to have a nearly constant color regardless of changes in the light source position and the viewpoint position. The visible color of the painted surface with metallic paint changes depending on the light source position and the viewpoint position.
For example, for an object whose outer surface is curved, such as an automobile, the angle to the light source and the angle to the viewpoint change depending on the position of the outer surface. For this reason, even if one kind of metallic paint is applied to the entire surface, the color that appears on the object surface is not uniform, and the color varies depending on the position. A color distribution appears on the object surface. The designer assumes the color distribution that appears on the surface of the object, and determines the color distribution to be displayed.
The color distribution that appears on the surface of the object is determined by the paint. The color distribution that appears on the surface of the object is changed by changing the type and composition of the color pigment and glitter material. Therefore, it is necessary to design a paint that gives the color distribution that the designer wants to appear.
At present, the designer tells the paint designer the color distribution he wants to appear, and the paint designer designs the paint based on that information. A prototype paint designed by the paint designer is applied to the specimen and provided to the designer. The designer observes the test painted surface and feeds back the difference from the desired painted surface to the paint designer. In order to repeat this cycle, the period until the painted surface intended by the designer is actually obtained becomes longer. In particular, there is no tool to accurately describe the painted surface intended by the designer, and feedback often tends to be frequent because feedback is often made using words that indicate “more cool blue”. As a result, the product shipment may begin before the painted surface intended by the designer is obtained. In addition, the design intended by the designer may not be sufficiently transmitted, and the intended design may not be obtained.
Therefore, in the present invention, the period of time until the intended painted surface is obtained is shortened by changing the instruction information that the designer gives to the paint designer from the expression belonging to the sensitivity to the objective expression. In addition, the design intended by the designer will be realized more accurately, and colors with higher added value will be created.
In the present invention, the intended painted surface can be expressed by the variable spectral reflectance of the painted surface, and when the modified spectral reflectance of the painted surface is transmitted to the paint designer, the intended painted surface can be easily obtained. Use the knowledge that.
The variable angle here refers to the angle formed by the regular reflection direction of the illumination light on the surface of the object illuminated by the light source and the observation direction. In the case of a metallic painted surface, the reflectivity is sensitive depending on the variable angle. To change. Even in the case of a solid painted surface, although not as sensitive as a metallic painted surface, the reflectivity changes depending on the angle change.
When the designer determines the reflectance of the paint surface, which changes depending on the wavelength and the angle of change, and informs the paint designer, the intention of the designer is accurately communicated to the paint designer, and the paint development process is streamlined and shortened. The

Calculate the distribution of the angle change of the object surface when observing from different viewpoints. The color distribution calculation means is obtained when the object illuminated by the light source is observed from the viewpoint from the variable angle distribution calculated by the variable angle distribution calculation means and the variable angle spectral reflectance stored in the reflectance storage means. The update means updates the stored contents of the reflectance storage means to the modified variable spectral reflectance. The changing means changes the color distribution display displayed on the display device to a color distribution display calculated from the corrected variable spectral reflectance.
When the variable angle spectral reflectance of the painted surface and the angular distribution of the object surface are known, the applicant of the present invention assumes the position of the light source and assumes the position of the viewpoint, and is illuminated with the light source at the assumed position. We developed a technology to reproduce the color distribution of the object surface obtained when observing the observed object from the viewpoint at the assumed position. Details of the technique are described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-172873.
By measuring the painted surface to which the existing paint is applied, the variable angle spectral reflectance of the painted surface can be measured.
Many objects are designed using three-dimensional CAD, and the CAD data defines the angular distribution of the object surface. For example, from CAD data, the angle (αβγ) between the normal of the object surface at the point (xyz) in the XYZ space and the three orthogonal axes can be known. Alternatively, data describing the angular distribution of the object surface can also be obtained by measuring the object with a three-dimensional measuring device.
When an object whose surface angular distribution is known is placed in the virtual space, the position of the light source (usually the sun) that illuminates the object can be assumed, and the position of the viewpoint that observes the object can be assumed. . For example, it is possible to virtually determine a situation in which an automobile that is exposed to sunlight from an upper left side of an object called an automobile is observed from an upper right side.
If the positional relationship between the light source, the object, and the viewpoint is determined, and the angular distribution of the object surface is known, it is possible to calculate the variable angle distribution of the object surface. The variable angle is an angle formed by the observation direction and the regular reflection direction of the illumination light on the surface of the object illuminated by the light source. Once the angle distribution of the object surface is known, the color distribution of the object surface obtained when observing the object illuminated by the light source from the viewpoint can be calculated by taking into account the angle difference spectral reflectance of the painted surface. it can. When the calculated color distribution is displayed on the display device, the color distribution display reproduces the color distribution of the object surface obtained when the object illuminated by the light source is observed from the viewpoint.
In the support device, for the color distribution display that reproduces the color distribution on the surface of the object, the variable angle spectral reflectance corresponding to the color distribution display is displayed in a graph. The color distribution display and the graph display of the variable spectral reflectance are displayed so that they can be compared and observed.
When this contrast display is obtained, the designer can visually confirm the relationship between the color distribution display and the variable spectral reflectance. For example, when the color appearing in a specific variable angle area on the object surface is unsatisfactory, the reflectance corresponding to the variable angle can be known. Therefore, for example, it is possible to know a correction direction for eliminating a dissatisfied color. For example, it is clear that the problem can be solved by using a paint that provides a variable spectral reflectance that suppresses redness and increases blueness compared to the current situation, and obtains a color distribution display on the surface of the object that is obtained when using the paint. be able to.
By using the apparatus of the present invention, it is possible to obtain a color distribution display on the surface of the object based on the variable angle spectral reflectance displayed in the graph, and if the variable angle spectral reflectance is corrected, the corrected angle variable spectral reflectance is used. Since the color distribution display on the surface of the object can be obtained, the designer can obtain the intended color distribution display and the variable spectral reflectance that realizes it in a short time while comparing the variable angle spectral reflectance and the color distribution display. be able to.
The determined variable spectral reflectance is a clear guide for paint designers, who can accurately understand the paint surface required by the designer, and the paint development process is streamlined and shortened.
The color of the object surface can be classified mainly into the reflection color and the ground color. The color of the reflection is such that the light source that illuminates the object appears on the object surface, and the light emitted from the light source is reflected on the object surface in a specular manner and observed. The color of the ground is the color of the object itself, and the light emitted from the light source is transmitted through the coating layer and is diffusely reflected in the coating layer and observed. When describing the color of an object, the former can be described by regular reflectance, and the latter can be described by diffuse reflectance.
The variable angle spectral reflectance obtained by measuring the color of the painted surface includes both the part derived from regular reflectance and the part derived from diffuse reflectance. The state of the rate changes. For example, on an object surface having a large regular reflectance, the lightness index changes rapidly with respect to a change in angle of change, and on an object surface with a small regular reflectance, the lightness index changes gradually with respect to a change in angle of change. Visually, the glossiness increases as the regular reflectance increases, and the matte feeling increases as the regular reflectance decreases.
In the present invention, the concept of regular reflectance is introduced to more accurately grasp the painted surface intended by the designer. When displaying the color distribution of the object surface intended by the designer or expressing the painted surface that realizes the color distribution, in addition to the variable spectral reflectance, the regular reflectance (regular reflection) included in it is added. The rate is one factor that determines the variable spectral reflectance.
For this purpose, in the above-described apparatus, regular reflectance storage means for storing the initial value of regular reflectance information of the paint surface, and regular reflectance for correcting the regular reflectance information stored in the regular reflectance storage means. It is effective to add correction means. The correction means (correction angle spectral reflectance correction means) corrects the variable angle spectral reflectance based on the regular reflectance information corrected by the regular reflectance correction means.
If the initial value of the regular reflectance of the painted surface is known together with the initial value of the modified spectral reflectance of the painted surface, the modified spectral reflectance of the painted surface is corrected by modifying the regular reflectance of the painted surface. It becomes possible to do. The designer observes the reproduced color distribution and can correct the regular reflectance of the object surface when he / she feels dissatisfied with the glossiness of the object surface, for example. When the designer corrects the regular reflectance, the variable angle spectral reflectance is corrected based on the corrected regular reflectance, and the color distribution display on the object surface and the graph display of the variable spectral reflectance are updated. By contrasting the regular reflectance, color distribution display, and graph display of variable spectral reflectance, the designer can obtain the intended color distribution display and the variable spectral reflectance, regular reflectance, etc. for realizing it in a short period of time. Can do.
The determined variable spectral reflectance and regular reflectance are clear guidelines for paint designers, who can accurately understand the paint surface desired by the designer, and the paint development process is streamlined and shortened. Is done.
When it is difficult to directly measure the regular reflectance of the painted surface, the regular reflectance of the painted surface can also be expressed by the refractive index of the painted layer formed by coating the paint. In this case, in the above-described apparatus, a refractive index storage unit that stores an initial value of refractive index information of the coating layer, and a refractive index correction unit that corrects the refractive index of the coating layer stored in the refractive index storage unit Further, regular reflectance calculation means for calculating regular reflectance information of the painted surface based on the refractive index information stored in the refractive index storage means may be added. The initial value of the regular reflectance information stored in the regular reflectance storage means can be calculated by the regular reflectance calculation means using the initial value of the refractive index information, and the regular reflectance correction means includes the The regular reflectance stored in the regular reflectance storage means can be corrected to regular reflectance information calculated by the regular reflectance calculation means based on the refractive index information corrected by the refractive index correction means.
The regular reflectance of the painted surface can be obtained from the refractive index information of the coating layer formed by coating the paint, the refractive index information of the atmosphere in which the painted surface is disposed, and the like. If the initial value of the refractive index of the paint layer is stored, the initial value of the regular reflectance of the paint surface can be obtained. If the refractive index of the paint layer can be corrected, the regular reflectance of the paint surface can be corrected.
According to this apparatus, the refractive index information of the paint layer can be obtained for the paint surface that realizes the color distribution intended by the designer. The obtained refractive index information of the paint layer is a clear guide for paint designers, who can accurately understand the paint surface that is required or desired by the designer, making the paint development process more efficient and faster. Is done.
In the above apparatus, it is preferable that the refractive index information is described as a complex refractive index.
The complex refractive index is an optical index composed of a real part indicating the refractive index and an imaginary part indicating the extinction coefficient, and is an index indicating the optical behavior of the substance. By using the complex refractive index, for example, internal absorption of the paint layer is taken into account, and the color distribution on the surface of the object can be reproduced more accurately, and the painted surface that realizes the color distribution can be expressed more accurately Is possible.
The designer can directly obtain the color distribution display intended by the designer instead of the method of determining the variable spectral reflectance that realizes the color distribution display intended by the designer by comparing the variable angle spectral reflectance and the color distribution display. It may be. The support device according to this method includes a reflectance storage means, an angle distribution storage means, a variable angle distribution calculation means, a color distribution calculation means, a display device, a correction means, a corrected variable angle spectral reflectance calculation means, Update means are provided. The reflectance storage means, the angle distribution storage means, the variable angle distribution calculation means, and the color distribution calculation means are the same as those described above, and redundant description is omitted. The display device displays the color distribution calculated by the color distribution calculation means. Although the variable angle spectral reflectance may be displayed, it is not necessary to display it, and any display that displays the color distribution is sufficient. The correction means allows the designer to correct the display color of the color distribution display displayed on the display device. The corrected variable angle spectral reflectance calculation means calculates the variable angle spectral reflectance of the painted surface that realizes the color distribution display in which the display color is corrected by the designer using the correction means. The updating unit updates the storage content of the reflectance storage unit to the calculated corrected variable angle spectral reflectance.
If a color distribution display that reproduces the color distribution of the object surface is displayed on the display device, the designer can identify the problematic part and color in contrast to the desired color distribution, and the color that solves the problem It can be corrected. Various correction devices can be used. For example, a method of selecting from a color sample or a color to be corrected can be specified by inputting an instruction of brightness, saturation, and hue. The correction means is not limited.
When the designer corrects the display color of the color distribution display using the correction means, the calculation means calculates the variable spectral reflectance of the painted surface that realizes the corrected color distribution display. Therefore, the updating unit updates the storage content of the reflectance storage unit to the calculated corrected variable angle spectral reflectance.
Even with this apparatus, the designer can obtain the color distribution display intended by the designer and the variable spectral reflectance for realizing it in a short time. The determined variable spectral reflectance is a clear guide for paint designers, who can accurately understand the paint surface required by the designer, and the paint development process is made efficient and shortened.
In the above-described two-system support device, a means for displaying a gradation display indicating a change in color corresponding to a change in angle change obtained from the angle change spectral reflectance of the painted surface so as to be able to be compared with the color distribution display is added. May be. When this contrast display is obtained, the designer can visually confirm the relationship between the color distribution display of the object and the color change with respect to the change in the angle of change of the painted surface that realizes the color distribution. Thereby, for example, by comparing the color gradation change in the color distribution display on the object surface with the gradation change on the painted surface, the influence of the shape of the object surface on the color gradation change can also be evaluated. Also, if this gradation display is presented to the paint designer together with the determined variable spectral reflectance, the paint designer can visually understand the paint surface required by the designer, and the paint development process Efficiency and shortening.
The present invention also provides a method of using a computer to assist the designer in determining the variable spectral reflectance to be transmitted to the paint designer so that the designer can accurately convey his intention to the paint designer. To do. The support method of the present invention includes a spectral reflectance storage step, a variable angle distribution calculation step, a color distribution calculation step, a display step, a graph display step, a correction step, and a change step. The spectral reflectance storage step, the computer stores the angular distribution of the initial value and the object surface of the variable angle spectroscopic reflectance of the coated surface. In the angle distribution calculation process, the angle change of the object surface when the computer observes the object illuminated by the light source from the viewpoint based on the assumed light source position, the assumed viewpoint position and the stored angle distribution. Calculate the distribution. The color distribution calculating step, the computer, and deformation distribution calculated from variable angle spectroscopic reflectance stored, calculates a color distribution of the resulting object surface when observing the illuminated object with the light source in perspective. In the display step, the computer displays the calculated color distribution display device. In the graph display step, the computer displays the variable spectral reflectance corresponding to the color distribution display in a graph so that it can be compared with the color distribution display. In the correction step, the computer corrects the variable angle spectral reflectance displayed in a graph in accordance with an instruction from the designer. In the changing step, the computer changes the color distribution display displayed on the display device to a color distribution display calculated from the corrected variable spectral reflectance.
The object surface obtained when observing the object illuminated by the light source from the viewpoint using the assumed variable angle spectral reflectance, the object surface angle distribution, and the object surface angle distribution calculated from the light source position and the viewpoint position. Can be calculated. When the calculated color distribution is displayed on the display device, it is possible to reproduce the color distribution of the object surface obtained when the object illuminated by the light source is observed from the viewpoint. Then, the variable spectral reflectance corresponding to the color distribution display is displayed in a graph. At this time, the color distribution display and the graph display of the variable angle spectral reflectance are displayed so that they can be compared.
This contrast display allows the designer to visually confirm the relationship between the color distribution display and the variable spectral reflectance. The color distribution display on the surface of the object according to the variable angle spectral reflectance displayed in the graph is obtained, and if the variable angle spectral reflectance is corrected, the color distribution display of the object surface based on the corrected angle spectral reflectance is obtained. As a result, the designer can obtain the color distribution display intended by the designer and the variable spectral reflectance for realizing it in a short period of time while comparing the variable spectral reflectance and the color distribution display.
The determined variable spectral reflectance is a clear guide for paint designers, who can accurately understand the paint surface required by the designer, and the paint development process is streamlined and shortened.
In addition, the present invention provides a method for supporting a method of directly obtaining a color distribution display intended by a designer. This type of support method includes a spectral reflectance storage step, an angle distribution calculation step, a color distribution calculation step, a display step, a correction step, and a spectral reflectance calculation step. The spectral reflectance assumption step, the variable angle distribution calculation step, the color distribution calculation step, and the display step are the same as those described above, and redundant description is omitted. In the correction step, the computer corrects the display color of the color distribution display displayed on the display device in accordance with an instruction from the designer. In the spectral reflectance calculation step, the computer calculates the distorted spectral reflectance of the painted surface that realizes the color distribution display with the display color corrected.
Also in this type of support method, the color distribution of the object surface obtained when the object illuminated by the light source is observed from the viewpoint is reproduced on the display device. If a color distribution display that reproduces the color distribution of the object surface is displayed on the display device, the designer can identify the problematic part and color in contrast to the desired color distribution, and the color that solves the problem It can be corrected. Various correction methods can be used. For example, a method of selecting from a color sample or a color to be corrected can be specified by inputting data indicating brightness, saturation, and hue. The correction method is not limited.
When the display color of the color distribution display is corrected by the designer, the variable angle spectral reflectance of the painted surface that realizes the color distribution display corrected by a computer or the like is calculated. Then, the content stored in the reflectance storage means is updated to the calculated corrected variable angle spectral reflectance.
Even with this support method, the designer can obtain the color distribution display intended by the designer and the variable spectral reflectance for realizing it in a short time. The determined variable spectral reflectance is a clear guide for paint designers, who can accurately understand the paint surface required by the designer, and the paint development process is made efficient and shortened.

CIE1976(L*a*b*)表色系では、色彩をL*値とa*値とb*値で表現する。
Hereinafter, the
In step S <b> 1, the
In the present embodiment, the description in the CIE 1976 (L * a * b * ) color system is used to describe the variable angle spectral reflectance data of the painted surface. In the CIE1976 (L * a * b * ) color system, colors are expressed by L * values, a * values, and b * values. The L * value describes the lightness of the color. That is, the larger the L * value, the brighter the color. a * describes the hue of the color and its intensity, in particular the intensity for the red and green hues. The higher the a * value is, the greater the positive value is, and the more the hue is red, and the smaller the a * value is, the smaller the color is green. The b * value describes the hue of the color and its intensity, and in particular describes the intensity for the yellow and blue hues. A positive b * value results in a yellow hue, and a negative b * value results in a blue hue. The c * value calculated from the a * value and the b * value describes the saturation of the color. Note that c * = (a * 2 + b * 2 ) 1/2 .
In step S3,
In step S <b> 5, the angular distribution of the automobile body surface is calculated from the
In step S7, the position of the light source that illuminates the
In step S <b> 9, the
In step S11, the
In step S13, as shown in FIG. 5, the
When this contrast display is obtained, the designer can visually confirm the relationship between the color distribution display and the variable spectral reflectance. For example, when there is dissatisfaction with the color appearing in a specific variable angle area on the object surface, the spectral reflectance corresponding to the variable angle can be known.

In step S17, the variable spectral reflectance data corrected by the designer in step S15 is complementarily corrected by the variable spectral
Therefore, the variable spectral

The above-described complementary correction of the variable spectral reflectance is an example, and various other complementary correction methods may be performed. For example, a complementary correction pattern that takes into account the relationship between the type of glitter used in the paint and the effect on the variable spectral reflectance may be prepared and used in advance.

The complex refractive index is an index described by a refractive index n that describes the speed at which a substance propagates light and an extinction coefficient k that describes the degree to which the substance absorbs light, and n + ki (i: imaginary unit) and Described by complex numbers. In general, the refractive index n and the extinction coefficient k are called the optical constants of a substance. By adopting the complex refractive index in the refractive index information, the internal absorption of light in the coating layer is taken into consideration, and the color of the painted surface can be reproduced more accurately.
The complex refractive index can be measured using a measuring instrument such as an ellipsometer.

The Fresnel reflection coefficient Rs is an index indicating the reflection behavior of the incident light with respect to the s-wave component, and the Fresnel reflection coefficient Rs is an index indicating the reflection behavior of the incident light with respect to the p-wave component. Both the reflection coefficient Rs and the reflection coefficient Rp change with respect to the incident angle of incident light, but the behaviors of the changes are different from each other. Therefore, when dealing with the color distribution on the object surface, it is preferable to obtain the regular reflectance using the Fresnel reflection coefficient.

With reference to FIGS. 9-11, the relationship between the regular reflectance of a coating surface and a variable angle spectral reflectance is demonstrated. The color of an object can be classified mainly into the reflection color and the ground color. The color of the reflection is such that the light source that illuminates the object appears on the object surface, and the light emitted from the light source is reflected on the object surface in a specular manner and observed. The color of the ground is the color of the coating layer itself, and the light emitted from the light source is transmitted through the coating layer and is diffusely reflected in the coating layer and observed. When describing the color of an object, the former can be described by regular reflectance, and the latter can be described by diffuse reflectance.
9 and 10 schematically show the intensity of the reflected light reflected from the coating surface with respect to the reflection direction. FIG. 9 (A) shows a case where the regular reflectance of the painted
As shown in FIG. 9A, when the

By this contrast display, the designer can visually confirm the relationship among the color distribution display, the variable spectral reflectance, and the complex refractive index (which can be said to indicate regular reflectance).

When the designer uses the assist device 80 of the present embodiment in the process of determining the reflectance of the painted surface for the car body by the designer, the designer can display the color distribution display intended by the designer and the variable spectral reflectance to realize it. Can be obtained in a short time. In addition, the support device 80 allows the designer to directly change the color of a specific area in the color distribution display.
