Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for evaluating a metallic feeling of a metallic coating film containing a flake pigment such as an aluminum pigment. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for evaluating the metallic feeling of a metallic coating, which simultaneously measures luminance and whiteness as indices indicating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, color evaluation techniques for object colors include the XYZ color system and X10Y10Z10Color system, L*a*b*Color system (CIE LAB), L*u*v*There are many colorimetric methods including a colorimetric system (CIE LUV) and are widely used in industry.
[0003]
These colorimetric methods are particularly useful for solid colorimetric colorimetry, and are parameters for colorimetry by forming an object color or a uniform color space, and there are many colorimetric devices that measure these parameters.
[0004]
On the other hand, in metallic coatings using flake pigments, which are often used in color design in recent years, various “appearances” exist depending on the incident light on the coating and the geometrical conditions of the observation angle. Even if colorimetry is performed using, the colorimetric value under the geometrical optical conditions set by the individual colorimeters. There was a limit in expressing the overall “look” of the coating film with few parameters.
[0005]
The reason for this is that, as shown in FIG. 1, the reflected light of the metallic coating film is a so-called specular reflection light reflected on the surface of the metallic coating film (or a clear surface on its surface) and a strong reflection from the flake pigment oriented in the coating film. This is because diffused reflected light including specular reflected light changes depending on the light receiving angle, and thus there is naturally a limit in expressing the “appearance” of the entire coating film with a measured value in one direction.
[0006]
In particular, in the case of silver metallic, as a visual “appearance”, there is a luminance sense of highlight (intensity information of a solid angle near specular reflection light) and a whiteness.
[0007]
Regarding these, a value (IV value (Intensity Value)) obtained from a signal output at a light receiving angle at which the maximum intensity is obtained excluding the light in the specular reflection region reflected on the surface of the clear layer in the reflected light of the irradiated laser. ) Is adopted as a value corresponding to the sense of brightness, and similarly, a value (SV value (Scattering Value)) obtained from a signal output at a light receiving angle at which the light intensity becomes minimum in the specular reflection region is a diffuse reflection light from the flake pigment. (For example, see Non-Patent Document 1).
[0008]
However, according to this method, a numerical value exceeding a certain value cannot be obtained, the unit is also a specific dimension, and the use of an absolute value is limited. Further, the correlation with the amount of visual whiteness is weak. Furthermore, the signal output obtained from one angle is complex information including a sense of brightness and a sense of whiteness. Even if the sense of brightness and the sense of whiteness are evaluated by changing the light receiving angle to be measured, each signal output is obtained. It is impossible to accept the value obtained from the corner as a single characteristic, such as luminance and whiteness.
[0009]
Then, the present inventor measured the light receiving angle at five fixed points of 30 °, 20 °, 0 °, -30 °, and -65 °, and determined the luminance and whiteness by almost the same method as the present invention. A method for evaluation has been proposed (for example, see Non-Patent Document 2). However, in the method disclosed by the present inventor, information is entangled on the contrary because there are too many measurement points, and there is a problem in correlation with measurement results by other measurement methods including visual observation.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention solves the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art, and provides a simple and objective expression of the appearance of a metallic color (that is, metallic feeling) of a metallic coating film with two parameters of a luminance feeling and a whiteness feeling. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for evaluating a metallic feeling of a coating film.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the present inventor has proposed a method of preparing a plurality of silver metallic coated plates having different appearances.*The values were measured at specific two to four light receiving angle positions, and the measured values were statistically processed to determine whether the brightness and whiteness of the coating film could be evaluated on the same coordinates. I made mistakes. As a result, these two to four L*The principal component analysis is performed by regarding the value as a variable for showing one appearance, and it is found that the two components can be aggregated by obtaining the eigenvalue. It was confirmed that the whiteness was sufficiently correlated even in comparison with visual observation.
[0014]
Further, the inventor has performed a detailed analysis, and as a result, the two principal components are parameters having no correlation with each other.n(N is at least one of 1 and 2, 3, 4) and the eigenvector b of the second principal componentn(N is at least one of 1 and 2, 3, and 4), and the two principal components of the first principal component and the second principal component represented by the linear combination formula are respectively a silver color luminance sense. Thus, the present invention was completed.
[0015]
In the method for evaluating the metallic sensation of a metallic coating film of the present invention, the above two parameters are calculated based on one signal output from a plurality of observation angle positions, but are uncorrelated with each other. And that the information is independent from each other.
[0016]
Further, in the method for evaluating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating film of the present invention, L of the International Commission on Illumination widely used in industry as a unit for measuring signal output is used.*It is significant that the color can be displayed based on the value or the L value of a hunter recognized internationally.
[0017]
Furthermore, in the method for evaluating the metallic feeling of a metallic coating film of the present invention, the characteristic of the “appearance” of a metallic color can be uniquely displayed by plotting the two obtained parameters on XY coordinates. Therefore, it is significant that a map can be provided as an index for selecting a pigment for obtaining a specific design.
[0018]
That is, the evaluation method of the metallic feeling of the metallic coating film of the present invention, in a plurality of the metallic coating film, at an angle from the normal to the metallic coating film, the incident side was minus, the specular reflection side was plus. When the incident light is incident on the metallic coating at an incident angle in the range of −40 ° to −50 °, the incident side is minus, and the specular reflection side is the angle from the normal to the metallic coating. When plus, 25 ° ≦ θ1Angle θ selected from <45 ° light-receiving angle area1And −35 ≦ θ2, Θ3, Θ4At least one or more θ selected from the <25 ° light receiving angle regionn(Where 0 ° <θ2<25 ° (θ1−θ2≧ 5 °), -20 ° <θ3≦ 0 ° (15 ° ≦ θ2−θ3), -35 ° ≦ θ4≦ −20 ° (30 ° ≦ θ3−θ4)), And measuring the color of the incident light reflected by the respective metallic coatings at a total of two to four geometric positions at the three-dimensional position of the light receiving angle. , L obtained at each geometric position of the plurality of metallic coatings*a*b*Color system (or L*u*v*L in color system)*L, the value (CIE1976 lightness)*θ1And L*θnIs the first principal component by the principal component analysis method using1= A1L*θ1+ ΣanL*θn(N is at least one of 2, 3, 4) eigenvector a1And anAnd the second main component, Z2= B1L*θ1+ ΣbnL*θn(N is at least one of 2, 3, 4) eigenvector b1And bnAnd a step of evaluating a metallic feeling by associating two principal components, a first principal component and a second principal component, represented by the linear combination formula with the luminance and the whiteness, respectively. This is a method for evaluating the metallic feeling of a metallic coating film.
[0019]
Here, the step of measuring the color of the reflected light is based on the θ1Is 30 °, this θ2Is 20 °, this θ3Is 0 °, this θ4It is preferable to include a step of measuring the color of the reflected light under the condition of -30 °.
[0020]
In the method for evaluating the metallic feeling of a metallic coating film of the present invention, L*Instead of the value, the L value as a lightness index in the Hunter's color difference formula may be adopted. Furthermore, L*Values or L values are either X, Y, Z color system or X10, Y10, Z10Y value or Y of tristimulus value in color system10Since it is obtained from the value, L*Y or Y instead of L or L10A value may be adopted.
[0021]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to embodiments.
[0022]
<Evaluation method of metallic feeling of metallic coating>
The method for evaluating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating film of the present invention includes the steps of causing incident light to enter the metallic coating film, performing colorimetry of light reflected by the metallic coating film, and calculating an eigenvector. And a step of evaluating a metallic feeling.
[0023]
<Step of making incident light incident on metallic coating>
In the method for evaluating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating of the present invention, the step of irradiating the above-mentioned metallic coating with incident light is a method of measuring the metallic feeling of the metallic coating, and the method on the metallic coating is used. It is preferable to include a step of making incident light incident on the metallic coating film at an incident angle in a range of −40 ° to −50 °, where the incident side is defined as minus and the specular reflection side is defined as plus in the angle from the line. Here, the incident angle of the incident light is more preferably in the range of −43 ° to −47 °, and most preferably −45 °.
[0024]
In this way, by making the incident light incident on the metallic coating at an incident angle in the range of -40 ° to -50 °, the accuracy of the information of the specularly reflected light is improved.
[0025]
<Steps for measuring the color of the reflected light from the metallic coating>
In the method for evaluating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating film of the present invention, the step of performing colorimetry of the reflected light on the metallic coating film, at an angle from the normal to the metallic coating film, minus the incident side, When the specular reflection side is positive, 25 ° ≦ θ1Angle θ selected from <45 ° light-receiving angle area1And −35 ≦ θ2, Θ3, Θ4At least one or more θ selected from the <25 ° light receiving angle regionn(Where 0 ° <θ2<25 ° (θ1−θ2≧ 5 °), -20 ° <θ3≦ 0 ° (15 ° ≦ θ2−θ3), -35 ° ≦ θ4≦ −20 ° (30 ° ≦ θ3−θ4) Is satisfied, and the colorimetry of the incident light reflected by the respective metallic coating films at two to four geometrical positions at the three-dimensional position of the light receiving angle is performed. It is desirable to include.
[0026]
Here, in the step of measuring the color of the reflected light, θ1Is 25 ° ≦ θ1<45 ° is preferable, and 30 ° ≦ θ1More preferably, it is selected within the range of <40 °. This is because θ1Is close to 45 ° (specular reflection), it tends to be affected by the gloss of the painted surface due to the smoothness of the metallic coating surface.1Is smaller than 25 °, the information of highlights tends to decrease, and it tends to be difficult to separate the sense of brightness and the sense of whiteness.
[0027]
Further, in the step of performing the color measurement of the reflected light, θ2Is 0 ° <θ2<25 ° is preferable, and θ1In relation to2−θ1It is desirable to satisfy the condition of ≧ 5 °. Θ that does not satisfy these relationships2Is θ1This is because there is a tendency that sufficient correlation accuracy cannot be obtained with the data obtained from the data.
[0028]
Further, in the step of performing the color measurement of the reflected light, θ3Is -20 ° <θ3It is preferable to select in the range of ≦ 0 °, θ215 ° ≦ θ in relation to2−θ3It is desirable to satisfy the following conditions. Θ that does not satisfy these relationships3Is θ2This is because there is a tendency that sufficient correlation accuracy cannot be obtained with the data obtained from the data.
[0029]
Similarly, in the step of measuring the color of the reflected light, θ4Is −35 ° ≦ θ4It is preferable to select from the range of ≦ −20 °. θ4Is smaller than −35 °, the resulting L*This is because the absolute value of becomes too small, and sufficient analysis accuracy tends not to be obtained. And θ4Is θ330 ° ≦ θ in the context of3−θ4It is desirable to satisfy the following conditions. Θ that does not satisfy these relationships4Is θ3This is because there is a tendency that sufficient correlation accuracy cannot be obtained due to confounding with data obtained from.
[0030]
In the colorimetry of the reflected light, in the colorimetry of the reflected light, L*The color matching function for deriving the 10 degree field of view X even in the 2 degree field of view XYZ color system10Y10Z10Any of those based on the color system may be used. The standard light for color measurement may be white light, but preferably the standard light D65Alternatively, it is preferable to use standard light C.
[0031]
<Step of calculating eigenvector>
In the method for evaluating a metallic feeling of a metallic coating film according to the present invention, the step of calculating the eigenvectors is performed by using the L obtained at each of the geometric positions.*a*b*Color system (or L*u*v*L in color system)*L, the value (CIE1976 lightness)*θ1And L*θnIs the first principal component by the principal component analysis method using1= A1L*θ1+ ΣanL*θn(N is at least one of 2, 3, 4) eigenvector a1And anAnd the second main component, Z2= B1L*θ1+ ΣbnL*θn(N is at least one of 2, 3, 4) eigenvector b1And bnIt is preferable to include the step of calculating
[0032]
Here, in the step of calculating the eigenvectors by performing the principal component analysis, the plurality of metallic coatings are coatings of a general smooth silver color or a mixed color of a silver color and another color. It is preferable that the number of colors be large, and it is desirable that the number of colors be 20 or more in order to increase the correlation accuracy with visual observation. More desirably, it is desirable to prepare test piece samples of appropriately different colors within a range covering a lightness region which can generally exist in 40 colors or more.
[0033]
In the step of calculating the eigenvectors by performing the principal component analysis described above, the eigenvectors are not particularly limited, and a conventionally known mathematical method can be used. For example, using a variance-covariance matrix Alternatively, a correlation coefficient matrix may be used. In addition, all the positive and negative signs used in the respective joint expressions for obtaining the main components may be reversed signs.
[0034]
<Steps to evaluate metallic feeling>
In the method for evaluating a metallic feeling of a metallic coating film according to the present invention, the step of evaluating the metallic feeling includes the two principal components of a first principal component and a second principal component represented by the linear combination formula. It is preferable to include a step of evaluating the metallic feeling in correspondence with the luminance feeling and the whiteness feeling.
[0035]
By performing the evaluation in this manner, the luminance and the whiteness can be independently evaluated without being influenced by the mutual information.
[0036]

Table 3 shows the geometric conditions for the measurement. The designation of the geometric condition of X-Rite MA68 is different from the present specification. This is because the reception angle designation of the X-Rite MA68 is represented by an offset angle in the normal direction from the position of the regular reflection light (represented by 45 ° in the present specification). With respect to whiteness, there is no evaluation device or parameter that matches visual observation in a conventional measuring device. Therefore, here, the 47 coated plates produced under the conditions shown in the above (1) were visually evaluated to rank the degree of whiteness. The logarithmic value of this ranking data was taken to be a visual whiteness. The results are shown in Tables 6 and 7.

Also, Z2Although slightly correlated with the logarithmic value of the whiteness visual evaluation value, it is not as high as that shown in the examples. Also, Z1, Z2In both cases, the change range itself is small, and it is hard to be an index of evaluation.
[0069]
As described above, the angle θ selected from the light receiving angle region of 30 ° or more and less than 45 ° as data.1L from*θ1It can be seen that when the parameter is not adopted, it is difficult to obtain a parameter that solves the problem.
[0070]
As shown in FIGS. 2 to 15 of the above measurement results, by using the method of measuring a metallic feeling of the present invention, the luminance and whiteness, which are important indicators of the metallic coating film, affect each other's information. It can be measured without being observed, and it can be seen that the value well corresponds to the visual “look”.
[0071]
Also, for example, the Z sample of 47 samples obtained by the method described in the first embodiment is used.1And Z2Is plotted on the XY axes, as shown in FIG. 16, and it can be seen that the characteristic of “appearance” of the metallic color can be uniquely expressed.
[0072]
The embodiments and examples disclosed this time are to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the present invention is defined by the terms of the claims, rather than the description above, and is intended to include any modifications within the scope and meaning equivalent to the terms of the claims.
[0073]
【The invention's effect】
The method for evaluating the metallic feeling of a metallic coating film of the present invention eliminates the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior art, and can easily and objectively express the appearance of a metallic color with two parameters of a luminance feeling and a whiteness feeling. This is a method for evaluating the metallic feeling of a coating film.
[0074]
In addition, in the method for evaluating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating film of the present invention, these two parameters are calculated based on one signal output from a plurality of observation angle positions. There is a feature that each information is independent.
[0075]
The method of evaluating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating film of the present invention is based on the L of the International Commission on Illumination, which is widely used in the industry as a unit for measuring signal output.*Since the color is expressed based on the value or the L value of a hunter that is internationally recognized, it can be implemented using a general colorimeter, and is significant in that it is excellent in versatility.
[0076]
Further, the method for evaluating the metallic feeling of the metallic coating film of the present invention can display the characteristic of the metallic color “appearance” uniquely by plotting the obtained two parameters on the XY coordinates. There is a meaning that it is also possible to provide a map as an index of pigment selection for obtaining a specific design.
