Claims (10)
- 画素電極、薄膜トランジスタ、及びストレージキャパシタが形成された第1基板と、
カラーフィルタ、ブラックマトリックス、ならびに前記カラーフィルタ及び前記ブラックマトリックス上に位置する透明な共通電極が形成された第2基板と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に形成された液晶層と、
前記第2基板の下部に位置する第1偏光板と、
前記第1基板の上部に位置する第2偏光板と、を備え、
透過モードと反射モードとが選択的に駆動され、反射モード時に、前記薄膜トランジスタに含まれるドレイン電極と前記ストレージキャパシタを構成する電極とが反射電極として機能する液晶表示装置であって、
前記カラーフィルタと前記ブラックマトリックスとは、離隔されており、
前記カラーフィルタと前記ブラックマトリックスとの間の領域と、前記薄膜トランジスタに含まれるドレイン電極とは、完全にオーバーラップされる、液晶表示装置。 - 前記領域は、前記透明な共通電極により埋め込まれる、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記薄膜トランジスタのソース電極は、前記ブラックマトリックスとオーバーラップされる、請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶層は、位相差がλ/2になるように設定される、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1基板の前記第2基板と対向する面には第1配向膜が形成され、前記第2基板の前記第1基板と対向する面には第2配向膜が形成される、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1配向膜及び前記第2配向膜は、反平行するように配向され、
前記第1配向膜と前記第2配向膜との間で配向される液晶はECBモードである、請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1偏光板の透過軸と前記第2偏光板の透過軸とは、互いに直交する、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1基板の下部に配置され、透過モード動作時に光を供給する光源装置であるバックライトをさらに備える、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記薄膜トランジスタは、ゲート電極、ソース電極、ドレイン電極、及びアクティブ層で構成され、
前記ソース電極は、データ配線と連結されており、前記ゲート電極は、前記データ配線と交差して前記画素領域を定義するゲート配線と連結されるように構成される、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記ゲート配線と平行に形成されるストレージキャパシタの第1電極と、
絶縁層及び前記ドレイン電極と一体的に形成される第2電極と、をさらに備え、
前記第2電極は、前記第1電極上に形成され、ストレージキャパシタを構成する、請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
