しかし、このようなフランジ構造であっては、現場の配管作業時に一方の手でボルトをフランジのボルト通し孔に挿入し、他方の手でボルトの先にナットを取り付けなければならず、狭い場所や高所作業においては大変な作業であった。
特に、高所作業にあっては、ナットが落下する場合もあり、作業性の改善が要望されていた。
