Description
図1において、本実施の形態によるテレビジョン装置1の構成を示す。このテレビジョン装置1は、受信処理部2、画像デコード処理部3、表示デバイス駆動部4及び液晶ディスプレイ5を含む構成となっている。液晶ディスプレイ5は、液晶駆動部6、液晶パネル7、バックライト駆動部8及びバックライト9から構成される。
次に、液晶ディスプレイ5の構造について説明する。この液晶ディスプレイ5は、図2に示すように、液晶パネル7、バックライトボックス12、光学部材13を含む構造となっている。
ところで、拡散板21が傾斜されていない場合、図6(A)に示すように、バックライトボックス12の底面に設けられた光源と、該バックライトボックス12の開放面に設けられた拡散板21との距離がどの位置でも同じであるため、光の拡散パターンは略同一となる。
以上の構成において、このディスプレイ装置1における液晶ディスプレイ5は、拡散板21と、該拡散板21上に吊り下げられた光学シート22(拡散シート31、プリズムシート32及び偏光変換シート33)とが液晶パネル7のパネル背面の上端から下端かけて近づくように傾斜された構造をもつようにした。
上述の実施の形態においては、光学シート22として、拡散シート31、プリズムシート32及び偏光変換シート33を適用するようにした場合について述べたが、本発明はこれに限らず、例えば拡散板21に代えて、該拡散板21に相当する光学シートを加えるようにしてもよい。また、光学シート22における部材数及びその部材の光学特性については、光学設計に応じて適宜変更することができる。
Claims (3)
- 液晶パネルと、
上記液晶パネルのパネル背面から所定の距離を隔てて対向配置される面に設けられる複数の光源と、
上記複数の光源の前方に吊り下げられた光学シートと、
上記光源と、上記液晶パネルとを駆動する駆動手段と
を具え、
上記光学シートは、
上記液晶パネルのパネル背面の上端から下端にかけて近づくように、該パネル背面に対して傾けられ、
上記駆動手段は、
上記パネル背面に対して上記光学シートが傾けられたことにより生じる各光源の点灯パターンそれぞれに対応する輝度情報を保持する保持手段を有し、
表示対象となる画像の輝度情報に基づき、上記光源の点灯量を加減して点灯させるとともに、上記保持手段に保持される輝度情報に基づき、該画像の輝度情報を補正する
ことを特徴とするテレビジョン装置。 - 各光源の点灯パターンに対応する輝度情報は、当該光源から発する光の拡散パターンであり、その分布の広がりは上記光学シートから離れる光源ほど大きく設定され、
上記駆動手段は、
上記拡散パターンと逆パターンとなるよう上記画像の輝度情報を補正する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のテレビジョン装置。 - 各光源の点灯パターンに対応する輝度情報は、上記光学シートの光学特性上最適とされる距離を基準として設定される
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のテレビジョン装置。
