Claims (5)
- 透明な第1の電極を有する第1の基板、孔を有する第2の電極、および前記第1の基板と前記第2の電極との間に、前記第1の電極と対向するように収容された、液晶分子を一方向に配向させる液晶層を備え、前記第2の電極と前記液晶層との間に、配向膜部分とは異なり、前記第2の電極と前記液晶層との間の距離を設定する透明絶縁層とを配置し、前記第1と前記第2の電極との間に第1の電圧を加えて液晶分子の配向制御を行なうことができ、
前記透明絶縁層の中に透明な高抵抗層を配置しており、前記液晶分子の配向分布に基づく放物面状の屈折率分布を得ることを特徴とする液晶光学デバイス。 - 請求項1の液晶光学デバイスにおいて、
さらに前記第2の電極に対して絶縁層を介して第3の電極が配置され、この第3の電極に前記第1の電圧とは独立した第2の電圧を加えられるように構成され、
かつ、前記第1の電圧または前記第2の電圧値のいずれか一方が固定され、前記第1の電圧に対して前記第2の電圧、または前記第2の電圧に対して第1の電圧のいずれか一方が可変されることで光学的特性を可変制御することができることを特徴とする液晶光学デバイス。 - 請求項2記載の液晶光学デバイスにおいて、
前記第1の電圧または前記第2の電圧値のいずれか一方を固定する手段と、
レンズパワーをほぼ最大とした第1段階の光学特性を得るとともに、第2段階の光学特性として、前記第1の電圧に対して前記第2の電圧を可変することで凸レンズとして動作させる、または前記第2の電圧に対して第1の電圧を可変することで凹レンズとして動作させる手段を有することを特徴とする液晶光学デバイス。 - 請求項2又は3の液晶光学デバイスにおいて、
前記第3の電極は、前記第2の電極の前記孔内に間隔を置いて配置されていることを特徴とする液晶光学デバイス。 - 請求項1又は2又は3又は4記載の液晶光学デバイスにおいて、
前記高抵抗層の抵抗率(比抵抗)は100Ωm から1MΩmの範囲であることを特徴とする液晶光学デバイス。
