Description
本出願が主張する優先権の基礎となる米国特許出願は、1999年3月11日に出願された米国特許出願第09/265,715号の一部継続出願である2001年12月21日に出願された米国特許出願第10/029,595号の一部継続出願である。本出願が主張する優先権の基礎となる米国特許出願は、同日に出願された他の2つの米国特許出願「一体的な位置パッドおよび位置ディスプレイを備えた位置検出システム(Position Sensing System with Integral Location Pad and Position Display)」および「位置検出およびディスプレイを備えた侵襲的な医療器具(Invasive Medical Device with Position Sensing and Display)」に関連する。これらの関連出願は全て参照文献として引用される。
組織に固定されるように構成され、かつ入射した音波に応答して音響エコーを返すように適合された音響タグと、
各々が、組織に向けて体内に音波を放射しかつ音波に応答してタグから返された音響エコーを受信するように対応する位置に配置されるように適合され、受信した音響エコーに応答して第1の信号を生成するように適合された、複数の音響トランスデューサと、
各々が、基準としての外部フレーム内での対応する音響トランスデューサの位置を示す第2の信号を生成するように対応する音響トランスデューサに結合された、複数のトランスデューサ位置センサーと、
第1の信号および第2の信号を処理して基準としての外部フレーム内での音響タグの座標を求める処理ユニットとを有する。
組織に音響タグを固定する過程と、
体の近くの対応する位置に複数の音響トランスデューサを配置する過程と、
音響トランスデューサを駆動させて組織に向けて体内に音波を放射する過程と、
音波に応答してタグから返された音響エコーを受信し、受信された音響エコーに応答して第1の信号を生成する過程と、
各々が対応する音響トランスデューサに結合された複数のトランスデューサ位置センサーを用いて基準としての外部フレーム内での対応する音響トランスデューサの位置を示す第2の信号を生成する過程と、
第1の信号および第2の信号を処理して、基準としての外部フレーム内での音響タグの座標を求める過程とを有する。
(実施態様A)
対象の体内の組織の位置を求める装置であって、
上記組織に固定されるように構成され、かつ入射する音波に応答して音響エコーを返すように適合された音響タグと、
各々が、上記組織に向けて上記体内に音波を放射しかつ上記音波に応答して上記タグから返された上記音響エコーを受信するように適合され、受信した上記音響エコーに応答して第1の信号を生成するように適合された複数の音響トランスデューサと、
各々が、基準としての外部フレーム内での対応する上記音響トランスデューサの位置を示す第2の信号を生成するように対応する上記音響トランスデューサに結合された複数のトランスデューサ位置センサーと、
上記第1の信号および上記第2の信号を処理して基準としての上記外部フレーム内での上記音響タグの座標を求めるように結合された処理ユニットと
を有する、組織の位置を求める装置。
(1)音響タグへの配線による接続が実質的にない、実施態様A記載の装置。
(2)音響タグに入射する音波が第1の周波数を有し、上記音響タグによって返される音響エコーが上記第1の周波数とは異なる第2の周波数を有する、実施態様A記載の装置。
(3)音響タグが、キャビティを画定するシェルと、上記シェル内に収容された媒体とを有し、上記シェルおよび上記媒体が、第2の周波数で共振するように選択されかつ構成されている、実施態様(2)記載の装置。
(4)第1の信号が、対応する上記音響トランスデューサと上記音響タグとの間の距離を示し、処理ユニットが、上記距離を三角測量することによって上記音響トランスデューサに対する上記音響タグの位置を求めるように適合されている、実施態様A記載の装置。
(5)基準としての外部フレームに固定され、かつ音響トランスデューサの近傍に電磁界を生成するように適合されたひとつまたは複数のフィールド発生器をさらに有し、トランスデューサ位置センサーが、上記電磁界に応答して電流が流れるフィールドセンサーを有し、第2の信号が上記フィールドセンサーを流れる電流に対応する、実施態様A記載の装置。
(7)医療器具の使用者が用いるために音響タグに対する上記医療器具の座標の視覚的表示を提供するように適合されたディスプレイをさらに有し、上記ディスプレイおよびフィールド発生器コイルが一体的なパッケージ内に処理ユニットと共に収容されている、実施態様(6)記載の装置。
(8)トランスデューサ位置センサーが、電磁界を生成するように適合されたフィールド発生器を有し、基準としての外部フレームに取り付けられ、かつ上記電磁界に応答して第2の信号に対応する電流がそのコイルに流れるひとつまたは複数のフィールドレシーバーをさらに有する、実施態様A記載の装置。
(9)体に用いられる医療器具に固定されるように構成され、かつ基準としての外部フレーム内での上記医療器具の座標を示す第3の信号を生成するように適合された器具位置センサーをさらに有し、処理ユニットが、上記第3の信号を処理して音響タグに対する上記医療器具の座標を求めるようにも結合されている、実施態様A記載の装置。
(10)医療器具が組織に到達するように体内を穿通するように適合された侵襲的器具を有し、上記侵襲的器具の使用者が用いるために音響タグを通る軸に対する上記侵襲的器具の姿勢の視覚的表示を提供するように適合されたディスプレイをさらに有する、実施態様(9)記載の装置。
(12)侵襲的器具が組織に手術手技を行なうように適合されている、実施態様(10)記載の装置。
(13)侵襲的器具が内視鏡を有する、実施態様(10)記載の装置。
(参考態様B)
対象の体内の組織の位置を求める方法であって、
上記組織に音響タグを固定する過程と、
上記体の近くの対応する位置に複数の音響トランスデューサを配置する過程と、
上記音響トランスデューサを駆動して上記組織に向けて上記体内に音波を放射する過程と、
上記音波に応答して上記音響タグから返された音響エコーを受信し、受信された上記音響エコーに応答して第1の信号を生成する過程と、
各々が、対応する上記音響トランスデューサに結合された複数のトランスデューサ位置センサーを用いて、基準としての外部フレーム内での対応する上記音響トランスデューサの位置を示す第2の信号を生成する過程と、
上記第1の信号および上記第2の信号を処理して基準としての上記外部フレーム内での上記音響タグの座標を求める過程と
を有する、組織の位置を求める方法。
(14)音響タグへの配線による接続が実質的にない、参考態様B記載の方法。
(15)体内に音波を放射する過程が、第1の周波数で音波を体内に放射する過程を有し、第1の信号を生成する過程が、上記第1の周波数とは異なる第2の周波数で音響タグから返された音響エコーを受信する過程を有する、参考態様B記載の方法。
(17)第1の信号を生成する過程が、対応する音響トランスデューサと音響タグとの間の距離を示すように第1の信号を生成する過程を有し、音響タグの座標を求める過程が、上記距離を三角測量して上記音響トランスデューサに対する上記音響タグの位置を求める過程を有する、参考態様B記載の方法。
(18)第2の信号を生成する過程が、音響トランスデューサの近傍に電磁界を生成する過程と、上記電磁界に応答して上記音響トランスデューサに結合されたフィールドセンサーに流れる電流を検出する過程とを有し、上記第2の信号が、上記フィールドセンサーに流れる電流に対応する、参考態様B記載の方法。
(19)体に用いられる医療器具に器具位置センサーを固定する過程と、上記器具位置センサーを用いて電磁界に応答して第3の信号を生成する過程と、上記第3の信号を処理して音響タグに対する上記医療器具の座標を求める過程とをさらに有する、参考態様(18)記載の方法。
(20)第2の信号を生成する過程が、音響トランスデューサに結合されたフィールド発生器を用いて電磁界を生成する過程と、基準としての外部フレームに固定されたフィールドレシーバーを用いて上記電磁界に応答して流れる電流を検出する過程とを有し、上記第2の信号が、上記フィールドレシーバーを流れる上記電流に対応する、参考態様B記載の方法。
(22)医療器具が組織に到達するように体内を穿通するように適合された侵襲的器具を有し、上記侵襲的器具の使用者が用いるために音響タグを通る軸に対する上記侵襲的器具の姿勢の視覚的表示を表示する過程をさらに有する、参考態様(21)記載の方法。

Claims (14)
- 対象の体内の組織の位置を求める装置であって、
上記組織に固定されるように構成され、かつ入射する音波に応答して音響エコーを返すように適合された音響タグと、
各々が、上記組織に向けて上記体内に音波を放射しかつ上記音波に応答して上記タグから返された上記音響エコーを受信するように適合され、受信した上記音響エコーに応答して第1の信号を生成するように適合された複数の音響トランスデューサと、
各々が、基準としての外部フレーム内での対応する上記音響トランスデューサの位置を示す第2の信号を生成するように対応する上記音響トランスデューサに結合された複数のトランスデューサ位置センサーと、
上記第1の信号および上記第2の信号を処理して基準としての上記外部フレーム内での上記音響タグの座標を求めるように結合された処理ユニットと
を有し、
上記音響タグは、半球形であり、上記音響トランスデューサから放射された音波に打たれるシェルを有し、該シェルに入射した音波は上記音響タグに共鳴を起こし、上記音響タグは上記音響エコーを放射するようになっている、組織の位置を求める装置。 - 音響タグへの配線による接続が実質的にない、請求項1記載の装置。
- 音響タグに入射する音波が第1の周波数を有し、上記音響タグによって返される音響エコーが上記第1の周波数とは異なる第2の周波数を有する、請求項1記載の装置。
- 音響タグが、キャビティを画定するシェルと、上記シェル内に収容された媒体とを有し、上記シェルおよび上記媒体が、第2の周波数で共振するように選択されかつ構成されている、請求項3記載の装置。
- 第1の信号が、対応する上記音響トランスデューサと上記音響タグとの間の距離を示し、処理ユニットが、上記距離を三角測量することによって上記音響トランスデューサに対する上記音響タグの位置を求めるように適合されている、請求項1記載の装置。
- 基準としての外部フレームに固定され、かつ音響トランスデューサの近傍に電磁界を生成するように適合されたひとつまたは複数のフィールド発生器をさらに有し、トランスデューサ位置センサーが、上記電磁界に応答して電流が流れるフィールドセンサーを有し、第2の信号が上記フィールドセンサーを流れる電流に対応する、請求項1記載の装置。
- 体に用いられる医療器具に固定されるように構成され、かつ電磁界に応答して第3の信号を生成するように適合された器具位置センサーをさらに有し、処理ユニットが、上記第3の信号を処理して音響タグに対する上記医療器具の座標を求めるようにも結合されている、請求項6記載の装置。
- 医療器具の使用者が用いるために音響タグに対する上記医療器具の座標の視覚的表示を提供するように適合されたディスプレイをさらに有し、上記ディスプレイおよびフィールド発生器コイルが一体的なパッケージ内に処理ユニットと共に収容されている、請求項7記載の装置。
- トランスデューサ位置センサーが、電磁界を生成するように適合されたフィールド発生器を有し、基準としての外部フレームに取り付けられ、かつ上記電磁界に応答して第2の信号に対応する電流がそのコイルに流れるひとつまたは複数のフィールドレシーバーをさらに有する、請求項1記載の装置。
- 体に用いられる医療器具に固定されるように構成され、かつ基準としての外部フレーム内での上記医療器具の座標を示す第3の信号を生成するように適合された器具位置センサーをさらに有し、処理ユニットが、上記第3の信号を処理して音響タグに対する上記医療器具の座標を求めるようにも結合されている、請求項1記載の装置。
- 医療器具が組織に到達するように体内を穿通するように適合された侵襲的器具を有し、上記侵襲的器具の使用者が用いるために音響タグを通る軸に対する上記侵襲的器具の姿勢の視覚的表示を提供するように適合されたディスプレイをさらに有する、請求項10記載の装置。
- 侵襲的器具がハンドルを有し、ディスプレイが上記ハンドルに取り付けられている、請求項11記載の装置。
- 侵襲的器具が組織に手術手技を行なうように適合されている、請求項11記載の装置。
- 侵襲的器具が内視鏡を有する、請求項11記載の装置。
