Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a steel cord used as a reinforcing material for rubber articles such as pneumatic tires and industrial belts, and particularly intends to improve durability.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, steel cords have been widely used as reinforcing materials for rubber articles such as rubber hoses, conveyor belts, and pneumatic tires. For example, pneumatic tires, which are typical examples of rubber articles, especially heavy duty pneumatic tires for trucks and buses, have a 3 + 9 + 15 structure in which steel filaments of the same wire diameter are twisted by changing the twist pitch for each layer. The cord was used as a belt reinforcement. The steel cord includes a core made of three steel filaments, an inner layer sheath made of nine steel filaments arranged around the core, and 15 steel filaments arranged around the inner layer sheath. It is formed with an outer layer sheath. When the cord is embedded in rubber, there is no disadvantage in that the cavity is left inside the cord because the outer periphery has no gap communicating with the cavity inside the cord and the rubber cannot enter the inside of the cord. That is, when the moisture that has entered the rubber from the wound of the rubber article reaches the cord, the moisture penetrates into the hollow portion inside the cord, causing corrosion of the cord and peeling of the cord and rubber.
[0003]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 11-43876 discloses a flat steel cord comprising a core in which two steel filaments are aligned without twisting, and a sheath made of nine steel filaments arranged around the core. Was proposed. Since the cord forms a gap between the sheath filaments, the rubber can surely enter the cord.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Since this cord has a structure in which a plurality of typed sheath filaments are arranged around a core made of two filaments and a gap is formed between the sheath filaments, in a cross section orthogonal to the axial direction of the cord The observed code outline, that is, the outer shape of the code is characterized by being relatively large. This type of cord, for example, in the calendar process and vulcanization process at the time of tire manufacture, when tension is applied to the cord, there is a space between the sheath filaments, and there is room to stretch the type of each filament as it is, A large tensile residual stress was generated in the filament, which caused a decrease in the fatigue resistance of the cord. In other words, the cord having this large tensile residual stress is prone to cracking starting from a portion having a large residual stress, and filament breakage is liable to occur as the crack progresses, so the fatigue life of the cord is shortened. .
[0005]
In particular, in a buncher stranded wire machine, it is difficult to mechanically wind the sheath filament along the core, and the outer shape of the cord becomes large. That is, when a 2 + N structure cord having a core made of two filaments is manufactured by a buncher stranding machine, an elliptical open cord having a 1 × N structure is arranged around the core made of two filaments. . Such flat cords are inferior in fatigue resistance of the cords because they generate a larger residual stress with respect to the tension applied during cord production.
[0006]
Therefore, the present invention provides a method for advantageously suppressing a decrease in fatigue resistance when a tension is applied to a cord of a 2 + N structure cord having a large outer shape in which a sheath is disposed around a flat core. It is intended to provide a pneumatic tire excellent in durability.
[0007]

That is, if the major axis Dl of the cord exceeds 4.7d when the core and the sheath have the same diameter, and 2.55 × (dc + ds) when the core and the sheath have different diameters, in particular, in the cord manufactured by buncher twist, Since the twist is tightened by the tension applied during production, residual stress is generated in each filament, resulting in deterioration of the fatigue resistance of the cord. Therefore, it is important to regulate the major axis of the cord within the above ranges.
[0019]
In addition, when the outer shape of the cord becomes a perfect circle, the deterioration phenomenon of fatigue resistance which is a problem in the present invention is less likely to occur. Therefore, in the present invention, the core and the sheath have the same diameter of 4.27d . When the diameter of the sheath and the sheath is different, the range is limited to a range exceeding 2.20 × (dc + ds).
[0020]
The diameter of the filament constituting the cord is preferably in the range of 0.10 to 0.50 mm. In other words, if the filament diameter is less than 0.10 mm, the belt rigidity when applied to a tire belt becomes small, so it is necessary to increase the number of cords to be driven, and the distance between adjacent cords becomes narrow and the rubber at the end of the cords As a result of being easily connected between adjacent cords, separation at the belt end is imitated, and so-called belt end separation resistance is deteriorated. On the other hand, if the filament diameter exceeds 0.50 mm, the amount of bending strain in the filament may increase, which may cause cord breakage in the belt, for example, when the tire travels on rough roads.
[0021]
Next, a method for manufacturing the cord of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to FIG. Here, we will show a manufacturing method using a buncher stranded wire machine that is difficult to regulate the outer shape of the cord to an appropriate range, but it is also possible to use a tubular stranded wire machine that can easily control the twisted form of the cord compared to the buncher stranded wire machine. Of course, the cord of the present invention can be manufactured.
[0022]
In order to manufacture a cord using this buncher stranding machine, as shown in FIG. 3, first, the
[0023]
It should be noted that the amount of sheath filament molding can be controlled by adjusting the mutual spacing of the brazing pins in the molding apparatus 8 or the tension of the filament. For example, in order to reduce the amount of sheath filament molding, the distance between the brazing pins in the molding apparatus 8 may be reduced. Thus, the outer shape of the cord intended in the present invention can be obtained by independently controlling the amount of the sheath filament to be formed.
[0024]
The cords described above are applied to a tire belt by applying a ply in which a large number of cords are aligned in parallel to each other and embedded in a rubber sheet to provide reinforcement for the carcass. Here, as the tire, for example, a truck / bus tire shown in FIG. 4 is advantageously adapted. This tire includes a

The cord of the radial tire for trucks and buses of size 10.00 R20 14PR shown in FIG. 4 and the cords having the specifications shown in Tables 1 and 2 are inclined at an inclination angle of 20 ° with respect to the equator plane of the tire. It applied with the arrangement which becomes. Each tire thus obtained was examined for rubber penetration, belt cord breakage resistance and belt end separation resistance. These survey results are also shown in Tables 1 and 2.

Next, Table 2 is a comparison of 2 + N structures in which the filament diameters of the core and the sheath are different. That is, it can be seen that Invention Example 6 has a buncher twisted 2 + 3 structure, and Invention Example 6 has improved belt end separation resistance compared to Comparative Example 6 having a 2 + 3 structure with a different wire diameter. Furthermore, it can be seen that Invention Example 6 has improved rubber penetration as compared with Comparative Example 2 which has a 2 + 11 structure with a different wire diameter. Invention Example 7 is when the core filament diameter is 0.16 mm and the sheath filament diameter is 0.14 mm. Invention Example 8 is when the core filament diameter is 0.48 mm and the sheath filament diameter is 0.44 mm, and the core filament diameter is 0.09 mm. In comparison with Comparative Example 8 in which the sheath filament diameter is 0.08 mm, it can be seen that the belt end separation resistance is improved. In addition, it can be seen that Invention Examples 7 and 8 have improved belt cord breakage resistance as compared with Comparative Example 9 in which the core filament diameter is 0.54 mm and the sheath filament diameter is 0.52 mm. Invention Example 9 is a case where the major axis of the cord is 2.48 times (core filament diameter + sheath filament diameter), and compared with Comparative Example 10 which is 2.61 times (core filament diameter + sheath filament diameter). It can be seen that the foldability is improved.
[0030]
[Table 2]
[0031]
Here, the rubber penetration is measured by taking out the steel cord from the belt of the test tire, measuring the amount of rubber adhered on the peripheral surface of the core, and measuring the measured value on the entire peripheral surface of the core. Evaluation was made with 100% as the case of bonding and 0% as the case of no bonding.
[0032]
Belt cord breakage resistance was adjusted to 725 kPa of the tire's internal pressure and incorporated into a standard rim, then attached to a real vehicle, rehabilitated on a rough road for 30,000 km, and then rehabilitated the tire for another 30,000 km. Then, the tire was dissected and the reinforcing material was collected from the third belt layer from the carcass side of the belt, the number of broken cords was measured, and the result was displayed as an index by the following equation. The smaller the index, the smaller the number of cord folds, and the better the belt cord fold resistance. In addition, the cord which produced the code | cord | chord which has the same cord structure and filament diameter as invention example 6 in Table 1 with Table 1 with the tubular stranding machine was applied to the reference tire.
(Belt cord resistance index) = (Number of cord folds in the test tire) / (Number of cord folds in the reference tire) x 100
[0033]
Since the belt end separation resistance is largely governed by the size of the belt end crack length, the crack length is used as a substitute index for belt end separation. That is, in this test, a tire with an internal pressure adjusted to 725 kPa and incorporated in a standard rim was mounted on a real vehicle, and after traveling for 100,000 km on a general road, the tire was dissected and the belt on the third layer from the carcass side of the belt The crack length generated at the edge of the layer was measured, and the result was expressed as an index by the following equation. The smaller this index is, the shorter the crack length is, indicating that the belt end separation resistance is excellent. The reference tire is the same as in the case of the belt cord breakage resistance.
(Belt end segregation resistance index) = (crack length of test tire) / (crack length of reference tire) × 100
[0034]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, it is possible to improve the fatigue resistance of a cord having a 2 + N structure having a core composed of two filaments. By applying this cord to a belt, traveling on a rough road or an unpaved road, Since cord breakage is avoided even under extremely severe use conditions, a tire having excellent durability can be provided.
