旋盤で外周を加工する工作物の代表的なものとして、例えば印刷用のロールがある。こうしたロールは、新しく製造する場合の他、使用により表面が劣化した場合にも、ロールの劣化した表面を微少量削り取るために、一般に旋盤を用いて旋削加工によるのが一般的である。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、印刷ロールなどのロールには外周表面にメッキ層を設けたものが多く使用されている。このメッキ層を有するロールを旋削加工すると、メッキとロールの接着性が比較的弱いため、旋削に伴い切削部のメッキ層がはがれ、このはがれたメッキ層に引っ張られるように未加工部位のメッキ層までもがはがれてしまい、このはがれたメッキ層が帯状になってしまうことがある。このようにして形成された帯状のメッキ層は、ロールやロールを支持するチャックなどに巻き付いて正常な機械の動作を妨げたり、ロールの未旋削部や旋削工具などの旋盤内の部位、ロールの旋削加工を施した後の部位に触れ、特にロールの旋削加工を施した後の部位に触れる場合には、その表面に傷を付けてしまうなどの問題点を有していた。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上述の問題点を解決するために本発明の旋削加工装置は、外周にメッキ層を有する工作物の旋削加工装置であって、切削工具を保持する部位に、工作物と切削工具との接触点近傍の工作物の未加工部を押圧する押圧手段を設け、前記押圧手段は、前記切削工具に隣接し該切削工具の移動方向前方に配置されて前記未加工部に向け流体を噴出する複数のノズルを備え、該ノズルが開口する前記押圧手段の前記未加工部側表面は、前記未加工部の外径よりも大きい弧となって、該未加工部との間に隙間を有することを特徴とするものである。この場合、流体としては切削液を用いるのが好ましい。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の好ましい実施形態の一例について図面に基づき説明する。図1は本発明を適用し旋盤にてロールを加工している状態を示す模式図であって、旋盤のベッド(図示せず)上に図示しない主軸台、心押台が設けられ、それぞれに回転可能にチャック1、心押センタ2が取り付けられ、このチャック1及び心押センタ2によりロール8が支持されている。ベッド(図示せず)上にはロールの回転軸線に平行及び直角な方向に移動可能に刃物台3が設けられ、刃物台3にはタレット4が回転可能に保持されている。タレットの端面及び外周には複数のホルダ5が取り付けられており、ホルダ5にはロールに旋削加工を施すための切削工具であるバイト6が固定されている。この状態でバイト6をロール8に接触させて図中の矢印方向に刃物台を移動させることにより、ロール表面を旋削加工する。尚、これまで述べた点は従来より実施されている旋盤によるロール加工を異なるところはない。
