Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a holding seal material for a reformer for a fuel cell mounted on a vehicle, for example.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, a reformer for a fuel cell mainly includes a catalyst holder, a metal pipe that covers the outer periphery of the holder, and a holding sealing material disposed therebetween.
[0003]
A catalyst such as platinum is supported on the catalyst holder. As the catalyst holder, for example, a cordierite carrier formed in a honeycomb shape is used. This catalyst support generates hydrogen by passing a hydrocarbon compound such as methanol.
[0004]
Further, as the holding sealing material, a material made only of inorganic fibers such as ceramic fibers is usually used. This holding seal material prevents damage when the catalyst holder comes into contact with the metal pipe while the vehicle is running, and also prevents leakage of hydrocarbon compounds between the metal shell and the catalyst holder. It is used for
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, it has been confirmed by the inventor that impurities such as chlorine, phosphorus and sulfur are contained in a general holding sealing material at a concentration of 2 to 3 wt% or more.
[0006]
Moreover, the impurity concentration of the holding sealing material impregnated with about 1 to 10 wt% of an organic binder such as NBR or SBR is even higher.
However, when a holding sealing material containing a large amount of impurities is used, chlorine, phosphorus, sulfur and the like are mixed into hydrogen generated by the reformer, and the purity of hydrogen is lowered. When the purity of hydrogen is reduced in this way, it is expected that inconveniences such as a decrease in power generation efficiency of the fuel cell and a shortened life of the apparatus will occur.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a holding seal material for a reformer for a fuel cell capable of generating high-purity hydrogen.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems, in the invention described in claim 1, a catalyst holder that holds a catalyst that reacts with a hydrocarbon compound to generate hydrogen, and a metal pipe that houses the catalyst holder . in the holding sealing material of the reformer for a fuel cell that holds the catalyst carrier is disposed between, and abstracts that consists of low impurity concentration inorganic fibrous material, and a mat-like material of a resin non-impregnated To do.
[0009]
The invention according to
According to a third aspect of the invention, in the holding seal material for the fuel cell reformer according to the first or second aspect, the concentrations of chlorine, sulfur and phosphorus in the mat-like material are 300 ppm or less. This is the gist.
[0010]
The “action” of the present invention will be described below.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, a mat-like material made of an inorganic fiber material having a low impurity concentration and not impregnated with resin is used as the holding sealing material. That is, since the content of impurities is originally low, the amount of impurities mixed into the produced hydrogen is also reduced. Therefore, the generated hydrogen can be maintained with high purity. As a result, it is possible to reliably prevent a decrease in power generation efficiency of the fuel cell due to a decrease in hydrogen purity.
[0011]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, the concentration of impurities contained in the holding sealing material is less than 1%, so that the generated hydrogen can be reliably maintained in high purity.
[0012]
According to the third aspect of the present invention, the concentration of chlorine, sulfur, and phosphorus contained in the holding sealing material is 300 ppm or less, so that the generated hydrogen can be more reliably maintained at a high purity.
