Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a pixel interpolation device and a pixel interpolation method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In an image sensor such as a CCD sensor or a CMOS sensor mounted on a digital camera, a color filter array is formed on a light receiving element to color incident light. In the case of a digital camera equipped with a single-plate imaging sensor, color filters corresponding to each pixel are arranged on the light receiving element in a one-to-one correspondence, and the output signal of the imaging sensor has only a single color component in each pixel. In order to obtain full-color image data, it is necessary to perform a so-called pixel interpolation process for interpolating a color component that is insufficient for each pixel. For example, when a color filter array including primary color filters of R (red), G (green), and B (blue) is employed, a pixel having only an R component is insufficient with reference to surrounding pixels. It is necessary to interpolate the G and B components that are being processed. As this type of pixel interpolation method, a bilinear interpolation method, a bicubic interpolation method, or the like is a well-known technique.
[0003]
However, this type of pixel interpolation processing has a known problem that a false color signal or a signal called dot noise that does not exist is generated. Conventional techniques for reducing false color signals are disclosed in, for example, Patent Document 1 (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2001-8037) and Patent Document 2 (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2000-165892). For example, it is disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2001-54125.

The evaluation value calculation unit calculates the evaluation value using an addition value obtained by adding the values of all the pixel data in each block region, and the region selection unit calculates the magnitude relationship between the evaluation values.
