Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a propellant supply device for an arc jet thruster that gasifies and supplies a propellant to an arc jet thruster.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As illustrated in FIG. 3, the arc jet thruster includes a thruster body 3 fixed to a structure 1 such as an artificial satellite via a
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
For the propellant of the arc jet thruster described above, for example, liquid hydrazine or the like (hereinafter referred to as propellant liquid) is used. That is, in the propellant supply device, the propellant is held in a liquid state in the propellant tank, the propellant liquid is supplied to the catalytic reactor with gas pressure, and the gasified propellant gas G is supplied to the arc jet thruster. To do. Further, the arc discharge A generates a strong arc from the vicinity of the narrowest part of the nozzle 4 toward the cathode rod in the initial stage of the start, but when the start is performed smoothly, it takes a short time (for example, 2 to 3 seconds). As a result, the pressure inside the nozzle rises (for example, from 2ata to 4ata), the gas ejection speed increases, and the arc generation position moves outside the narrowest portion of the nozzle 4.
[0004]
However, if bubbles are mixed in the propellant in the liquid state (propellant liquid), the starting characteristics of the arc jet thruster deteriorate and there is a problem that the electrode life is significantly reduced.
In other words, with the recent increase in size of satellites, the amount of propellant liquid mounted has increased and the size of the propellant tank has increased. May be mixed in. In this case, if bubbles are mixed in the pipeline for supplying the propellant liquid to the arc jet thruster, the bubbles are shrunk by pressure, so that it takes time to increase the pressure in the nozzle (for example, 10 seconds or more). As a result, arc discharge A The generation time from the vicinity of the narrowest part of the electrode becomes longer, and there is a problem that the cathode rod is severely damaged by strong arc discharge.
In other words, when propellant liquid containing bubbles is supplied to the arc jet thruster, it takes time to shift from the low-voltage discharge mode to the high-voltage discharge mode at the start of discharge, and the electrode (inside the cathode nozzle) is discharged during that time. As a result, the life of the arc jet thruster is shortened.
[0005]
The present invention has been made to solve such problems. That is, an object of the present invention is to effectively remove bubbles contained in the propellant liquid supplied to the arc jet thruster and prevent the bubbles from being mixed into the propellant liquid. It is an object of the present invention to provide a propellant supply device for an arc jet thruster that can improve the life of the arc jet thruster.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to the present invention, the propellant liquid (11) is held in the propellant tank (12), the propellant liquid is supplied to the catalytic reactor (13), and the gasified propellant gas G is supplied to the arc jet thruster. In the propellant supply device, a bubble trapping device (14) of the propellant supply device that captures bubbles using the surface tension of the propellant liquid is provided between the propellant tank (12) and the catalytic reactor (13). The bubble capturing device (14) includes a hollow container (16) having an inlet and an outlet, and a porous member (18) covering the outlet of the hollow container, and the inner surface of the hollow container communicates from the inlet to the outlet. In addition, a wick (17) that is filled with the propellant solution by the surface tension of the propellant solution is provided, and the porous member (18) has a large number of through-holes that prevent passage of bubbles by the surface tension of the propellant solution. For arcjet thrusters Supply apparatus is provided.
Moreover, it is preferable that the said wick (17) is a fine groove or a wire mesh provided in the hollow container, and the said porous member (18) is a wire mesh or a pore board.
[0007]
According to the above configuration of the present invention, the bubble capturing device (14) is provided between the propellant tank (12) and the catalytic reactor (13), and bubbles are captured using the surface tension of the propellant liquid. Due to the characteristic (surface tension) of the propellant without mixing of foreign substances, it is possible to capture the bubbles and prevent the bubbles from being mixed into the catalytic reactor (13).
That is, only the liquid excluding bubbles among the propellant liquid introduced from the inlet enters the wick (17) (for example, a narrow groove or a wire mesh) on the inlet side due to surface tension, and is led as it is to the outlet side. The catalyst is supplied to the catalytic reactor through a through-hole of a porous member (18) (for example, a wire mesh or a pore plate) provided in a closed state. On the other hand, the bubbles contained in the propellant liquid do not enter the wick (17) due to the surface tension of the bubbles, and cannot pass through the through holes of the porous member (18). Be captured. Therefore, it is possible to effectively remove bubbles contained in the propellant liquid supplied to the arc jet thruster and prevent bubbles from being mixed into the propellant liquid, improving the starting characteristics of the arc jet thruster and extending its life. Can do.
