【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、インターネット等が利用可能な通信端末に接続された汎用通信ネットワークを使用して、テレビ放送番組の録画予約を行い、録画された放送番組を提供するシステムに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、テレビ放送番組を録画予約する場合としては、放送番組の記載された雑誌や新聞を購入して、これを基に録画したい番組の情報（チャンネル番号、放送開始時間、放送終了時間等）を専用の録画装置に設定していた。
【０００３】
ここで、専用の録画装置として一般に普及しているものとしては、ビデオテープレコーダーがあるが、職場などでは、家庭にある専用の録画装置の操作を行うことができず、録画予約の変更・追加等の操作を行うことができないため、突然の番組変更に対応することは不可能である。また、この装置の録画形式はアナログであるため、録画状態は必ずしも良いものとはいえないものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
専用の録画装置を電話回線等に接続して遠隔操作を可能にするようなシステムが提案されている（特開平１１−３９７４３、特開平１０−１５５１３１等）が、これらのシステムでは、通信端末を介された専用の録画装置によりテレビ放送番組を録画予約することを目的としており、依然として専用の録画装置が必要となる。

特に、近年注目を浴びているＢＳ放送、ＣＳ放送を受信するためには、専用の高額な受像装置（チューナ、デコーダ）が必要となるために、これらの放送番組を録画して楽しもうとするのにはかなりの出費を要することとなる。

また、外国では、海外に住む人が日本のテレビ放送番組を楽しむことが一般にはできなかった。
【０００７】
本発明は、このような観点に鑑みてなされたものであり、その目的は、現在その普及が急速に進んでいるインターネット等の汎用通信ネットワークに、放送番組の録画等を行うサーバーを接続し、このサーバーからユーザの通信端末へ録画した放送番組を提供することによって、専用の録画装置がなくても録画された番組を楽しむことができるシステムを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
具体的には、本発明に係るインターネットによるテレビ番組予約・視聴システムは、以下のようなシステムを提供する。

（１）汎用通信ネットワークによりテレビ番組の予約、視聴を行うテレビ番組予約・視聴システムにおいて、前記テレビ番組予約・視聴システムは、ユーザにより入力された予約番組情報を取得する予約情報取得手段と、放送局より送信されるテレビ番組を受信してデジタル録画する番組録画手段と、この番組録画手段により録画された番組をデジタル保存するデータ保存手段と、このデータ保存手段により保存された番組をユーザに送信する録画番組送信手段と、を有することを特徴とするテレビ番組予約・視聴システム。

本発明に係るシステムにおいては、図１に示されるように、予約情報取得手段１００、番組録画手段１１０、データ保存手段１２０及び録画番組送信手段１３０を有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、図１に示されるシステムのそれぞれの手段が以下に説明する機能を発揮することによって、テレビ番組の予約・視聴が可能となる。

ここで、「汎用通信ネットワーク」とは、具体的には、パーソナルコンピュータ、携帯電話やＰＨＳ等の情報端末に接続されるシステムを意味する。

（２）前記予約情報取得手段は、録画可能な番組情報を記憶する提供番組情報記憶部と、この提供番組情報記憶部に記憶されている情報をユーザに送信する提供番組情報送信部と、この送信された提供番組情報に基づいてユーザが選択した録画希望番組の情報を受信する録画希望番組情報受信部と、この録画希望番組情報受信部により受信された番組情報を記憶する録画希望番組情報記憶部と、を有することを特徴とする上記（１）記載のテレビ番組予約・視聴システム。

本発明に係る「予約情報取得手段」は、提供番組情報記憶部１０１、提供番組情報送信部１０２、録画希望番組情報受信１０３部及び録画希望番組情報記憶部１０４を有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「予約情報取得手段」では、それを構成する各部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、ユーザから予約情報を受け付ける機能を有することとなる。

ここで、「提供番組情報記憶部」は、放送局より提供される放送番組情報（放送開始時間、放送終了時間等）を記憶するものである。なお、放送局等の指示により番組の録画に規制がかかったり、本システムの提供上支障が生じる場合には、録画可能な番組情報のみを記憶することが可能である。

「提供番組情報送信部」は、提供番組情報記憶部よりデータを取出して、ユーザに番組情報を送信して提供するものである。この送信された情報を基に、ユーザは録画を希望する番組情報を自己の端末から入力することとなる。なお、ここで送信される情報は、ユーザにより選択されたテレビ局・放送時間・放送ジャンル等の分野別情報等その形態を問わない。

「録画希望番組情報受信部」は、ユーザの端末から送信された番組情報を受信するものである。

「録画希望番組情報記憶部」は、録画希望番組情報受信部により受信された録画希望番組情報を記憶するものである。ここで、記憶された録画希望番組情報が、この情報を必要とする各部に配信されることとなる。

（３）前記番組録画手段は、放送局より送信される番組を受信する番組受信部と、受信した番組を録画するかどうかを判断する録画処理判断部と、この録画処理判断部により録画要求が出された番組をデジタル録画する録画処理部と、を有することを特徴とする上記（１）記載のテレビ番組予約・視聴システム。

本発明に係る「番組録画手段」は、番組受信部１１１、録画処理判断部１１２及び録画処理部１１３を有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「番組録画手段」では、それを構成する各部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、テレビ放送局より送信される放送番組を受信して、デジタル録画する機能を有することとなる。

ここで、「番組受信部」は、テレビ放送局より送信される放送番組（ＵＨＦ放送、ＶＨＳ放送、ＢＳ放送、ＣＳ放送等）を受信するものである。
【００２４】
「録画処理判断部」は、番組受信部により受信した番組を録画するかどうかを判断するものである。全ての受信番組を録画するシステムの場合には特に判断の必要がなく、常に録画要求を指示すればよい。しかし、ユーザから録画希望のあった番組のみを録画する場合には、番組受信部により受信した番組を録画する必要があるのかどうかを判断する。

「録画処理部」は、録画処理判断部により録画要求が出された番組を録画するものである。録画は、サーバ（パソコン）のハードディスクに一時的に保存する形式で行われるため、デジタル形式での保存が可能となる。

（４）前記データ保存手段は、前記録画処理部により録画された番組を保存するものであって、ユーザによって割り当てられたデータ保存領域（データ保存部）を有し、このデータ保存部に録画された番組が保存されることを特徴とする上記（１）記載のテレビ番組予約・視聴システム。

本発明に係る「データ保存手段」は、データ保存部を有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「データ保存手段」では、それを構成するデータ保存部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、録画された番組を保存する機能を有することとなる。

ここで、「データ保存部」は、各ユーザの私書箱というべきものであって、ユーザによって割り当てられたデータ保存領域によって区切られている。なお、ユーザによって割り当てられる保存領域のサイズは問わないので、均等に最大領域を設定したり、録画する番組の情報量（データサイズ）に応じて割り振ることが可能である。

例えば、このデータ保存部としては、ハードディスクを使用して、各ユーザにその区画を割り当てることが考えられるが、その他には、ＣＤ−ＲＯＭ、ＭＯ，ＤＶＤ等の記憶媒体を使用することもできる。

このように、デジタル形式での保存が可能となることから、放送された番組の画質を落とすことなく録画保存することができ、また保存された番組を提供のために何度再生（ロード）しても画質が落ちることはない。特に、近時注目を浴びているデジタル放送番組をデジタル形式で保存できることから、高画質で番組を提供して楽しませることができる。

（５）前記録画番組送信手段は、ユーザが要求した録画番組を前記データ保存領域より取得する録画番組取得部と、この取得された録画番組をユーザに送信する録画番組送信部と、を有することを特徴とする上記（１）記載のテレビ番組予約・視聴システム。

本発明に係る「録画番組送信手段」は、録画番組取得部１３１及び録画番組送信部１３２を有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「録画番組送信手段」では、それを構成する各部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、録画保存された番組を要求のあったユーザに送信する機能を有することとなる。

ここで、「録画番組取得部」は、データ保存部に保存されている録画番組を、各ユーザの保存領域より取得するものである。

「録画番組送信部」は、録画番組取得部により取得した録画番組を、インターネット等を通じて各ユーザの端末に送信するものである。

（６）前記テレビ番組予約・視聴システムは、更にテレビ広告を蓄積・挿入する広告挿入手段を有するものであって、前記広告挿入手段には、広告内容を蓄積する広告蓄積部と、この広告蓄積部により蓄積されている広告を選択する広告選択部と、選択された広告を挿入する広告挿入部と、を有することを特徴とする上記（１）記載のテレビ番組予約・視聴システム。

本発明に係る「広告挿入手段」は、広告蓄積部１４１、広告選択部１４２及び広告挿入部１４３とを有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「広告挿入手段」では、それを構成する各部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、このシステム上で広告の挿入が容易に行えることとなる。

通常、テレビ局より送信されるテレビ番組は、ある一定時間毎にテレビ広告（テレビＣＭ）が挿入される仕組みになっており、このＣＭは放送局によって管理されているものである。従って、テレビ局によって管理・提供される広告をそのまま用いることも可能である。

しかしながら、本システムにおいては、別に広告主を募ってテレビ広告を挿入して録画することを可能にするものである。これによって、例えば、録画する番組のジャンル（アニメ、スポーツ、歌等）に応じたテレビ広告を挿入することもでき、より大きな広告宣伝効果が期待できる。具体的には、アニメ番組においては、そのアニメキャラクター商品や子供向け玩具の宣伝広告等、スポーツ番組においては、スポーツ選手のグッズやスポーツ用品の宣伝広告等が挙げられる。

ここで、「広告蓄積部」は、広告主により提供されたテレビ広告を保存し、蓄積するものである。

「広告選択部」は、広告蓄積部に蓄積されている広告のうち、どの広告をテレビ番組に挿入するのかを選択するものである。選択の形式は、ランダムに選ばれるように設定してもよいが、録画する番組のジャンルに応じて選択するように設定した方が、より大きな広告宣伝効果が期待できる。

「広告挿入部」は、広告選択部により選択された広告を取得し、テレビ局より放映されるテレビＣＭに代えて、選択された広告を挿入するものである。

さらに、本発明においては、上記で説明したシステムに「課金処理手段」を設けることによって、ユーザに課金金額を請求することが可能となる。

具体的には、利用料の課金方式は、ユーザの利用回数、保存する番組データの量等、或いは、一般放送、ＢＳ放送、ＣＳ放送等に応じて課金金額を決定することができる。

特に、本発明では、ＢＳ放送、ＣＳ放送の受像に必要な専用の受像装置（チューナ、デコーダ）の購入及び受信契約をしなくても、これらの放送番組を楽しむことを可能とするものであるので、課金金額に差を設けることが必要となってくる。

そのために、以下のような種々の課金方式を提供する。

（７）前記テレビ番組予約・視聴システムは、更に、ユーザに対して利用料を請求するための課金処理手段を有するものであって、前記課金処理手段は、保存されたデータサイズ（情報量）をカウントする情報量計数部と、このカウントされた情報量に基づいて課金金額を計算する計算部と、この計算部により算出された金額を表示する出力部と、を有するものであって、保存されたデータサイズ（情報量）に基づいてユーザに課金金額を請求し得ることを特徴とするテレビ番組予約・視聴の課金システム。

「課金処理手段」を更に有する本発明においては、情報量計数部１５１、計算部１５２及び出力部１５３とを有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「課金処理手段」では、それを構成する各部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、保存されたデータサイズ（情報量）に基づいてユーザに課金金額を請求し得ることを特徴とする。

テレビ局より受信した番組は、本システムにおいて録画・保存されるが、保存領域がユーザによって割り振られるような上記（４）のシステムでは、データサイズ（情報量）が多ければ多いほど保存領域も多くなるために、ユーザが独占する領域に見合って課金金額を請求するものである。

ここで、「情報量計数部」は、ハードディスク等のデータ保存部に保存されたデータサイズ（情報量）をカウントするものである。カウントは、一般にデータの単位量を表すバイト単位でもよいが、特にこれにこだわる必要はない。

「計算部」は、情報量計数部でカウントされた情報量に基づいて課金金額を計算するものである。課金金額の計算方法としては、１バイト当りの利用料金を予め設定しておき、この利用料金に情報量計数部でカウントされた情報量を乗ずるという方法が考えられる。

「出力部」は、計算部により算出された金額を表示するものである。表示手段としては、プリンター等によって印字する形や画面上に表示する形等が考えられる。

（８）前記課金処理手段は、保存されたデータサイズ（情報量）をカウントする情報量計数部と、保存されている時間をカウントする時間計数部と、これらのカウントされた情報量及び時間に基づいて課金金額を計算する計算部と、この計算部により算出された金額を表示する出力部と、を有するものであって、ユーザに割り当てられた保存領域の時間当りの使用量に基づいてユーザに課金金額を請求し得ることを特徴とするテレビ番組予約・視聴の課金システム。

本発明に係る「課金処理手段」は、情報量計数部、時間係数部、計算部及び出力部を有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「課金処理手段」では、それを構成する各部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、ユーザに割り当てられた保存領域の時間当りの使用量に基づいてユーザに課金金額を請求することが可能となる。

保存されるデータサイズによって、ユーザが独占する保存領域が異なるが、この領域を独占している時間によっても課金金額に差を設けるものである。従って、ユーザが、保存された番組をすぐに受信して観るのと、数日後に受信して観るのとでは、課金金額が異なってくることとなる。

「時間計数部」は、録画された番組がデータ保存部に保存されている時間をカウントするものである。１秒、１分、１時間、１日等を基準にカウントすることが可能である。

「計算部」は、情報量計数部及び時間計数部でカウントされた情報量及び時間に基づいて課金金額を計算するものである。課金金額の計算方法としては、例えば、１バイト・１時間当りの利用料金を予め設定しておき、この利用料金に情報量計数部でカウントされた情報量を乗じ、さらに時間計数部でカウントされた時間を乗じるという方法が考えられる。

（９）前記課金処理手段は、前記情報量計数部と前記時間計数部との少なくとも１つの情報に基づき算出された課金金額を記憶する課金金額記憶部と、予約されたユーザの人数を記憶する利用人数記憶部と、この課金金額記憶部と利用人数記憶部との情報に基づいて課金金額を計算する計算部と、この計算部により算出された金額を表示する出力部と、を有するものであって、複数のユーザで１つのデータ保存領域を使用する場合には、前記課金金額は人数で按分した金額を請求し得ることを特徴とするテレビ番組予約・視聴の課金システム。

本発明に係る「課金処理手段」は、課金金額記憶部、利用人数記憶部、計算部及び出力部を有するシステムによって構成されている。

そして、この「課金処理手段」では、それを構成する各部が以下に説明する役割を果たすことによって、複数のユーザで１つのデータ保存領域を使用する場合には、課金金額は人数で按分した金額を請求することが可能となる。

特に録画予約の希望が多い人気番組では、放送局の要求する番組提供料等を含んだ利用料が高額になることも考えられ、同一の番組を録画要求するユーザの人数を記憶しておき、複数のユーザで課金金額を按分することによって、各ユーザの負担を軽減することができるので、本発明の利用価値も向上することとなる。

ここで、「課金金額記憶部」は、情報量計数部と時間計数部とでカウントされた情報量時間の少なくとも１つの情報に基づき算出された課金金額を記憶するものである。ハードディスク等のデータ保存部に保存されたデータサイズ（情報量）のみを記憶する、録画された番組がデータ保存部に保存されている時間のみを記憶する、或いは、これらの情報量及び時間の両方を記憶することができる。

「利用人数記憶部」は、同一の番組に対して複数のユーザより録画予約の希望があった場合には、そのユーザの人数を記憶するものである。

「計算部」は、課金金額記憶部と利用人数記憶部との情報に基づいて課金金額を計算するものである。課金金額の計算方法としては、例えば、課金金額記憶部により記憶された利用金額を利用人数記憶部により記憶された利用人数で除するという方法が考えられる。

（１０）前記課金処理手段は、要求した録画番組をデータ保存領域より取得する際にユーザ毎の録画番組取得回数をカウントする番組取得回数計数部と、この取得回数に応じて課金金額を計算する計算部と、この計算部により算出された金額を表示する出力部と、を有するものであって、ユーザが取得した録画番組の回数（再生回数）に応じて課金金額を請求し得ることを特徴とするテレビ番組予約・視聴の課金システム。

ここで、「番組取得回数計数部」は、要求した録画番組をデータ保存領域より取得する際にユーザ毎の録画番組取得回数をカウントするものである。

「計算部」は、番組の取得回数に応じて課金金額を計算するものである。何回番組を取得しても同じ利用金額であったり、２回目以降の取得には割引制度を設けたりするなどして利用金額を設定できる。課金金額の計算方法としては、例えば、この設定された金額に、番組取得回数計数部によりカウントされた取得回数を乗ずるという方法が考えられる。

（１１）前記課金処理手段は、ユーザにより選択された録画希望番組の情報を受信する際にユーザ毎の予約録画回数をカウントする予約録画回数計数部と、この予約録画回数に応じて課金金額を計算する計算部と、この計算部により算出された金額を表示する出力部と、を有するものであって、ユーザの予約回数に応じて課金金額を請求し得ることを特徴とするテレビ番組予約・視聴の課金システム。

同一のユーザにより頻繁に予約録画の要求がある場合には、その予約録画回数により課金金額を計算し、請求する。利用回数が多ければ多いほど、１回当りの利用料が安くなるなどの設定が可能である。

ここで、「予約録画回数計数部」は、ユーザ毎の予約録画回数をカウントするものである。

「計算部」は、予約録画回数に応じて課金金額を計算するものである。１回の予約録画当りの利用料金を設定しておいたり、２回目以降の予約録画に対する利用料金に割引制度を設けたりして利用金額を設定できる。課金金額の計算方法としては、例えば、この設定された金額に、予約録画回数計数部によりカウントされた予約録画回数を乗ずるという方法が考えられる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明に係るインターネットによるテレビ番組予約・視聴システムの実施の形態について説明する。

図２は、本発明に係るシステム全体の概要を示す説明図である。

図２に示されるようなシステムにおいては、ユーザが番組の録画予約を要求する手段としての携帯情報端末（携帯電話やパーソナルコンピュータ）２３と、ユーザの録画状況・利用状況を管理したり、テレビ放送局より送信される番組を受信して一時的に保存したりするサーバ２１と、サーバに一時的に保存された録画番組データを保存管理し、ユーザに録画番組を提供するデータセンター２５と、から構成される。そして、テレビ局２７から送信されるテレビ番組をサーバ２１で受信する。

[予約情報取得]
図３は、サーバが予約情報を取得するまでの流れ図を示したものであり、図２のＳ２０１に該当する。

まず、ユーザは携帯情報端末２３を利用して、本システムを提供するホームページにアクセスしてログインする（Ｓ３０１）。認証に成功したら、録画可能な番組情報を提供する（Ｓ３０２）。この時、提供番組情報送信部１０２は該当する番組情報を提供番組情報記憶部１０１より取り出して、この番組情報をユーザに送信する。ここで、番組情報を提供する際には、ユーザに番組を特定させる方法としては、例えば、ユーザに番組のキーワードを入力させて検索する方法や、テレビ番組表をＷｅｂ上で提供することによって選択させる方法にしてもよい。

このようにユーザによって特定された番組情報を、ユーザが送信することによって録画希望番組情報受信部１０３が取得して一時的に記憶する（Ｓ３０４）。ここで、ユーザに他の番組も予約録画するか否かの確認を行い（Ｓ３０５）、追加予約がなければ最終的に確定された予約番組を通知する（Ｓ３０６）。なお、上記の検索結果によっても番組が絞り込めていない場合や、ユーザが特定した番組を本システムでは録画提供できない場合などには、そのような注意を促すとともに、再びユーザに番組を特定するように求めることもできる（Ｓ３０２）。

なお、ユーザが他の番組も追加予約すると求めた場合には、再び番組情報を提供して（Ｓ３０２）、一連の処理を繰り返すこととなる。

[番組の録画]
図４は、サーバがテレビ放送番組を受信して録画するまでの流れ図を示したものであり、図２のＳ２０２に該当する。

番組受信部１１１では、テレビ放送局より送信される放送番組を受信している（Ｓ４０１）。この受信した番組を録画するか否かを録画処理判断部１１２で判断することとなる（Ｓ４０２）。ここで、録画処理すると判断された場合は、録画処理命令が判断部１１２より出されて、録画処理部１１３で番組の録画が行われることとなる（Ｓ４０３）。一方、録画処理しないと判断された場合は、録画処理を中止する命令が判断部１１２より出されて、録画処理が終了する。

なお、受信した番組を全て録画するシステムの場合には録画処理判断部１１２をそのような設定にしておくとよいが、要求のあった番組のみを録画するシステムの場合には、録画希望番組情報記憶部１０４に記憶されているデータが録画処理判断部１１２に送られることによって、録画処理の判断がなされる（Ｓ４０２）。

このようにして録画処理命令が出された番組が一時的にサーバに保存される（Ｓ４０６）。なお、サーバのファイル領域が足りなくなったと判断した場合には（Ｓ４０４）、データ保存手段１２０にデータが送信されて、そこでデータが保存されることとなる（Ｓ４０７）。

また、この録画処理の段階で任意に広告を挿入することも可能である。この場合には、テレビ放送局より提供されるテレビ広告（ＣＭ）に代えて、予め広告蓄積部１４１に蓄積されている広告が、広告選択部１４２により任意に選択され、広告挿入部１４３で挿入されて（Ｓ４０５）、保存されることとなる（Ｓ４０６）。
