Description
図1は、本発明の一実施形態である亜鉛エアー電池パッケージの斜視図であり、閉じた状態のパッケージを示し;
The present invention relates to packaging. It may be desirable to individually store a plurality of articles in a common pack so that the consumer can sequentially retrieve the articles as they are used. The invention particularly relates to small battery packaging that can be used as a power source for personal instruments such as hearing aids. For devices such as hearing aids, that is, devices that tend to be used continuously, the battery life is relatively short and the user usually wants to carry a spare battery and buy multiple batteries at once For example, it is desirable to store 4 or 6 batteries. As described above, it is known that four or six sets of batteries are housed in a plastic case for sale to consumers. The best small battery type for appliances like hearing aids is the zinc air battery. Zinc-air batteries include small air holes in their metal casing that must be exposed for the battery to function. However, even when the battery is not used as a power source for the appliance, if the air hole is exposed, the battery power is typically lost in about three months. For this reason, it is necessary to seal an air hole from the time of manufacturing a battery until it is attached to an instrument. The technology used for packaging DURACELL ACTIVAIR's zinc-air battery is to attach an adhesive plastic disk to the battery to cover the air holes, and this disk has a tab that protrudes beyond the edge of the battery. When using the battery, the disk can be easily grasped at the tab portion and removed from the battery. The known DURACELL ACTIVAIR battery package, which holds four or six batteries and has a separate sealing disk, has a base with a pocket for receiving and holding each battery, and a cover pivotally attached to the base. The cover is movable between a closed position where an enclosure enclosing the battery is formed by the cover and base and an open position accessible to the enclosed battery for individually removing the battery. Although these battery packages are extremely convenient for consumers, it cannot be said that there are no disadvantages from a manufacturing point of view. In the case of a battery to which a sealing disk is attached, it is difficult to automatically fill the package. As a result, the battery is conventionally manually loaded into the pocket of the container base, which is inefficient.
The present invention contemplates the above-mentioned problems, and as a solution, a base having a plurality of pockets for receiving each article and a single element of flexible sheet material including a spine bonded to the base, An article cover portion connected to the spine portion and extending beyond each pocket, the cover portion being adhesively connected to an article received in the pocket.
When the article is a battery, particularly a zinc air battery, the cover portion covers and seals the air holes until the battery is put into use. Because the single sheet material element is adhesively attached to the base, it helps to hold the battery in the pocket, so that the pocket itself does not hold the battery in place alone. Thus, the pockets do not need to securely hold the batteries, resulting in greater manufacturing tolerances when forming the pockets and facilitating removal of individual batteries from the pockets. When using the battery, the battery is lifted from the pocket, the flexibility of the sheet element allows such removal, and the battery is peeled off from the cover part to which the battery is attached by adhesion. To assist with battery removal, the cover portion of the seat element preferably includes a tab that extends away from the spine. By picking the tab with a finger and pulling it away from the base, the associated cover is deflected and the battery bonded thereto is lifted from the pocket.
The use of a single element of flexible sheet material to cover the battery facilitates the automation of the packaging process. This is because such an element can be applied by a conventional labeling machine after the battery is loaded into the pocket. Furthermore, a plurality of batteries can be loaded simultaneously by an automatic filling machine.
As described above, the second aspect of the present invention is an article packaging method, and the article packaging method includes:
(I) providing a base having a plurality of separate pockets for receiving each article;
(Ii) loading a plurality of articles into the plurality of pockets by an automatic filling machine;
(Iii) applying a single element of flexible sheet material onto the base and the article loaded in the pocket by an automatic labeling machine, the element being adhered to the base An attached part and an article cover part attached to each article by adhesion are provided.
As the most convenient method, the flexible sheet element is fed to the labeling machine in the form of a strip having a series of elements supported by a backing web.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The illustrated zinc air battery package includes an integrally molded plastic container 1, which includes a base 2 and a cover 3 connected to the base by an
Changes can be made to the package described above without departing from the essence of the invention. In particular, the shape and size of the pocket can be varied to suit the particular battery being packaged. Of course, the number of pockets is selected according to the number of batteries contained in the package.
The package described above can be manufactured by the following process. The molded container 1 is supplied to the automatic filling machine 20 (see FIG. 6), and the
