本発明は電子カメラに係り、特にファインダとして使用可能な液晶モニタ等の画像表示装置を備えた電子カメラに関する。

従来、デジタタルカメラ等の電子カメラに使用される固体撮像素子の画素数は、少ないもので30万画素から多いもので140万画素まであり、画素数が多くなる傾向にある。
一方、電子カメラに設けられた液晶モニタの画素数は、6万画素からせいぜい10万画素位のものが多い。

従って、画素数の少ない液晶モニタをファインダとして使用する場合には、記録やプリント出力に必要な精度のピント状態を確認することができず、このため電子カメラで撮像した画像をパソコンの画面に表示し、あるいはプリンタで印画して初めてピンぼけが分かる場合がある。

前記目的を達成するために、本願請求項1に係る発明は、被写体を示す画像光を固体撮像素子の受光面に結像し、前記固体撮像素子の受光面に結像された画像光を画像信号に変換する撮像手段と、前記撮像手段によって得られた画像信号を記録する記録手段と、前記固体撮像素子の画素数よりも画素数が少ない画像を表示する画像表示手段と、手動でピント調整部材を操作することによってピント合わせを行うマニュアルフォーカス機能と、前記ピント調整部材に手が触れているか否かを検出するセンサと、前記センサによって前記ピント調整部材に手が触れていることが検出されると、前記撮像手段による全撮影画像から所定の部分画像を切り出し、該切り出した部分画像を前記画像表示手段の画面に拡大表示させる拡大処理手段と、を備えたことを特徴としている。

また、手動でピント調整部材を操作することによってピント合わせを行うマニュアルフォーカス機能を設けることにより、マニュアルでピント合わせを精度良く行うことができる。
請求項2に示すように請求項1に記載の電子カメラにおいて、前記画像表示手段が前記部分画像を拡大表示している間、該画像表示手段での表示が拡大表示中であることを警告する警告手段を有することを特徴としている。
請求項3に示すように請求項2に記載の電子カメラにおいて、前記警告手段は、前記画像表示手段での表示が拡大表示中であることを示すアイコンを前記画像表示手段に表示させることを特徴としている。

図1は本発明に係る電子カメラの実施の形態を示すブロック図である。
この電子カメラは、シャッタレリーズボタン10(図2参照)の操作により静止画をメモリカード12に記録するデジタルカメラであり、液晶モニタ14を有している。この液晶モニタ14は、撮影時には被写体像を表示することができる電子ビューファインダとして機能し、再生時にはメモリカード12に記録した静止画を表示するモニタとして機能する。

このデジタルカメラでの撮影時(レリーズ全押しによる静止画の記録時に限らず、レリーズ半押し時又はムービー時に動画を液晶モニタ14に表示させる場合も含む)には、撮影レンズ16を介して固体撮像素子(CCD)18の受光面に結像した被写体像は、ここで光電変換されてCCD信号として順次読み出され、画像信号処理回路20に加えられる。ここで、CCD18は、液晶モニタ14の画素数よりも多いものが使用されている。
