本発明は自動車のブレーキ装置等に用いられるマスタシリンダに関するものである。

図6は、従来のタンデムマスタシリンダの一例を示すもので、シリンダハウジング2内にプライマリピストン5およびセカンダリピストン6がピストンガイド32,8を介して摺動自在に嵌合しており、プライマリピストン5のフロント側に第1圧力室10、セカンダリピストン6のフロント側に第2圧力室11がそれぞれ形成されている。これら各圧力室10,11は、各ピストン5,6のリリーフポート5a,6aおよびシリンダハウジング2に形成された通路等を介してリザーバ22に接続されており、プッシュロッドからの入力によりプライマリピストン5およびセカンダリピストン6が前進して、各リリーフポート5a,6aがプライマリカップ33,17によってそれぞれ閉塞されると、両圧力室10,11が前記リザーバ22から遮断されて密封される。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明に係るマスタシリンダは、ハウジング内に進退動可能に収容したピストンを前進させることにより、リザーバへの通路を閉じ、ハウジング内の圧力室に発生した液圧をブレーキ通路を介してホイールシリンダに送るものであって、特に、前記ピストンの外周面とハウジングの内周面との間に、圧力室を向いた前面側の面積よりもリア側の面積が大きい段付スリーブを摺動自在に嵌合させ、この段付スリーブの前面側に付勢手段を設けてリア側に付勢するとともに、段付スリーブの後面側に前記圧力室内の液圧が導入されるリア室を設け、かつ、前記ブレーキ通路に外部液圧源を接続したものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、図面に示す実施の形態により本発明を説明する。図1は本発明の一実施の形態に係るマスタシリンダ(全体として符号1で示す)の縦断面図、図2は前記マスタシリンダ1を用いたブレーキ回路を簡略化して示す図である。図1において、2は有底筒状のシリンダハウジングであり、その開口部側(図1の右側)にキャップ4が螺合固定されている。
