【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for easily determining the life of a battery and a battery capable of easily determining the life.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, various attempts have been made on methods for easily determining the life of a battery. For example, a method of measuring the internal impedance of a battery, a method of using a thermo label, a method of using a memory card, etc. are known (Japanese Patent Laid-Open Nos. 4-2922871, 5-36443, etc.).
[0003]
However, the method of measuring the internal impedance of a battery requires not only a separate device for measuring the impedance, but also the relationship between the change in impedance and the life of the battery is unclear. It was not possible to easily determine the battery life by using the battery.
[0004]
In addition, the method using the thermo label is to detect this temperature change with the thermo label by paying attention to the characteristic that the temperature of the battery rises at the end of the life. It is not easy for the user to make the determination easily and accurately because the relationship with the system is unclear and is easily affected by the external temperature.
[0005]
On the other hand, the method of using a memory card uses a memory card having a timer function for starting a timing operation simultaneously with the start of use of a battery and a display function for performing a predetermined display operation after the set time of the timer function has elapsed. However, depending on how the battery is used, the period of use and its life are not necessarily correlated, and the determination cannot be made accurately.
[0006]
Furthermore, the method using the thermo label and the method using the memory card are all configured so that they are installed outside the battery case, and the life of the battery is determined by directly detecting the internal state of the battery. Therefore, a method for determining the lifetime by directly detecting the change in the internal state has not been known.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a method by which a user can easily and accurately determine the life of a battery by directly detecting the internal state of the battery. It is to provide.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
As a result of intensive research in order to solve the above problems, the present inventor has found that when a battery is continuously used, a phenomenon occurs in which a specific metal ion is eluted in the electrolytic solution. Based on the knowledge that the battery life can be easily determined by detection, the present invention was finally completed by further research.
[0009]
That is, the present invention provides a metal ion in which at least one compound selected from phthalocyanines and derivatives thereof, and porphyrins and derivatives thereof is present in a battery electrolyte, and the compound elutes from a battery component. The present invention relates to a method for determining the life of a battery by forming a colored complex compound and detecting the color of the complex compound.
[0010]
In addition, the present invention provides a phthalocyanine and a derivative thereof, and at least one compound selected from porphyrins and a derivative thereof in an electrolyte solution, and a metal ion and a colored complex compound from which the compound is eluted from a constituent member It is related with the battery which can determine the lifetime by detecting the color development of the complex compound.
[0011]
Furthermore, the battery of the present invention is provided with a window on the surface of the battery case so that the color of the complex compound can be detected from the outside.
[0012]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The phthalocyanines and derivatives thereof used in the present invention include compounds having a phthalocyanine skeleton, including phthalocyanine and polychlorophthalocyanine, and compounds capable of reacting with metal ions described later to form colored complex compounds. Any conventionally known one can be used.
[0013]
The porphyrins and derivatives thereof used in the present invention are compounds having a porphyrin skeleton including porphyrin and tetraphenylporphyrin, and have the ability to react with metal ions described later to form a colored complex compound. Any known compound can be used as long as it is a compound.
[0014]
The above phthalocyanines, porphyrins and derivatives thereof can adjust the solubility in the electrolyte by appropriately introducing hydrophilic substituents (for example, sulfonates and carboxylates). it can.
[0015]
In the present invention, these phthalocyanines and derivatives thereof, or porphyrins and derivatives thereof are characterized by being present in the battery electrolyte, and the abundance thereof is usually 0.0001% to 1%, Preferably, it can be present at a concentration in the range of 0.001% to 0.1%. When the concentration range is below, when forming a complex compound with a metal ion described later, the degree of coloration becomes too low to detect the metal ion, whereas when exceeding the concentration range, the electrolyte solution or electrode Neither of these is preferable because it adversely affects the conductive properties and the like.
[0016]
Next, the battery targeted by the present invention can be widely applied to a primary battery and a secondary battery. However, application to a secondary battery is preferable in terms of the usage form and the usage period. In particular, the application to a nickel-hydrogen (Ni-MH) battery or a lithium ion battery can be given as a suitable example.
[0017]
The electrolyte solution of the battery usually has a different composition depending on the type of each battery. In general, aqueous solutions of various acids, aqueous solutions of various alkalis, and aqueous solutions of various salts are included. For example, taking the case of the above nickel-hydrogen (Ni-MH) battery as an example, aqueous solutions of potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide and the like can be mentioned. In addition, these are illustrations to the last, and electrolyte solution is not limited only to various aqueous solution, For example, a polymer electrolyte and a gel electrolyte are also included.
[0018]
On the other hand, the metal ions eluted from the constituent members of the battery are not particularly limited as long as they form a colored complex compound with the phthalocyanines and the like. Examples thereof include ions such as Cu, Ni, Co, and Fe, depending on the type of battery.
[0019]
Such metal ions are usually not present at all in the electrolyte of an unused battery, or if present, they are present only at a concentration of 1 ppm or less. When the concentration rises to a concentration of several ppm or more, the presence of the complex forming compound such as phthalocyanine can be confirmed.
[0020]
Therefore, the lifetime of the battery can be determined by adjusting the type and concentration of the complex-forming compound such as phthalocyanine according to the type of the metal ion.
[0021]
These metal ions can be first thought to be ions formed by elution of the metal constituting the battery component such as the electrode directly into the electrolyte, but the origin of the metal ions in the present invention is only this. It is not limited and by no means limits its origin. Therefore, the metal which adhered to the surface of the structural member (for example, electrode etc.) of a battery at the time of welding at the time of assembling the battery, and the metal eluted from the surface is included.
[0022]
As described above, the present invention utilizes the fact that the concentration of metal ions eluted from the battery components gradually increases in proportion to the battery usage period, storage period, number of charge / discharge cycles, and the like. The most characteristic feature is that the metal ion concentration can be visually determined by the action of a complex compound such as phthalocyanine.
[0023]
That is, the present invention makes it possible to easily determine the life of a battery by detecting the color of a complex compound in the electrolyte (that is, directly detecting the change in the internal state of the battery).
[0024]
In addition, although there are various confirmation methods, a visual confirmation method is the most suitable for a general user to make a simple determination. In this respect, the user can easily confirm the confirmation method. It is preferable to provide a confirmation window on the surface of the battery case.
[0025]
【Example】
EXAMPLES The present invention will be further described below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples.
[0026]
Example 1
A description will be given based on FIG. 1 and FIG.
[0027]
A
[0028]
Phthalocyanine was contained at a concentration of 0.01% in the electrolytic solution 4 of the battery body 1.
[0029]
Next, after testing the above battery using a charge / discharge tester (corresponding to the condition that the internal resistance is increased by 30%) inputted with a running pattern of an actual car for 10 years, it is provided on the surface of the
[0030]
As a result, the color of the electrolyte solution which was colorless before the test was changed to blue, and it was confirmed that the battery life was at the end.
[0031]
The color of the electrolyte changed to blue because phthalocyanine and copper ions in the electrolyte reacted to produce a complex compound, copper phthalocyanine, which was welded during the battery assembly process. It is thought that the copper adhering to the electrode surface etc. sometimes eluted.
[0032]
(Example 2)
In Example 1, the test was performed in the same manner except that tetraphenylporphyrin was used at a concentration of 0.01% instead of phthalocyanine.
[0033]
As a result, the color of the electrolyte solution which was colorless before the test was changed to blue after the test, and it was confirmed that the life of the battery was at the end.
