BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an engine starter that restarts an engine that has been automatically stopped when the engine is idling.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, reduction of fuel consumption and CO 2 The engine is automatically stopped when the engine is in an idling state, etc. for the purpose of reducing emissions, etc. Engine starters have been developed that are configured to be restarted. In the case where the engine in the automatic stop state is automatically restarted according to the driver's start operation or the like, as shown in, for example,

[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-mentioned
[0005]
In order to shorten the time required for restarting the engine and allow the engine to restart properly, it may be possible to operate the starter motor from the start of engine restart. There is a problem that compression self-ignition occurs due to a high air temperature in the cylinder, and negative torque acts in a direction to stop the engine start, so that the engine startability is lowered. For example, in a warm state of the engine where the engine coolant temperature is about 80 ° C., after about 1 minute has elapsed after the engine has stopped, the air in the cylinder is kept at a predetermined temperature, for example, 100 °. There is a tendency to rise above C. When the air-fuel mixture generated by injecting fuel into the cylinder in such a high temperature state is compressed according to the driving force of the starter, the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped is compressed top dead center. Since a driving torque is generated in a direction that causes self-ignition and reverse rotation of the engine before it becomes, there is a problem that startability of the engine is lowered.
[0006]
In view of the above circumstances, the present invention provides an engine starter capable of quickly and properly restarting an engine in an automatic stop state.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
[0012]
According to the above configuration, the engine cannot be restarted by injecting and igniting the fuel in the cylinder in the substantial expansion stroke according to the piston stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped. Is confirmed, both the driving force obtained by operating the starter from the start of engine restart and the generated energy by burning each cylinder after the end of its compression stroke Thus, the engine can be reliably restarted in a short time. Further, the starter is operated in a state where the piston stop position is at the bottom dead center side from the restartable range and the air temperature in the cylinder is high, and each cylinder is burned after the end of the compression stroke. When the engine is restarted, the control for suppressing the fuel in the cylinder in the intake stroke is executed when the engine is stopped, thereby effectively preventing the occurrence of compression self-ignition in this cylinder. It will be.
[0013]
[0014]
According to the above configuration, when the engine is restarted in a state where the air temperature in the cylinder is high, the control for stopping the fuel injection to the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped is executed. The occurrence of negative torque due to the occurrence of compression self-ignition in the cylinder at the time of restart is surely prevented.
[0015]
[0016]
According to the above configuration, when the engine is restarted in a state where the air temperature in the cylinder is high, the control is performed to retard the fuel injection timing for the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped. Generation of negative torque due to the occurrence of compression self-ignition in the cylinder is effectively prevented.
[0017]
[0018]
According to the above configuration, when the engine is restarted in a state where the air temperature in the cylinder is high, the control for enriching the air-fuel ratio of the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped is performed. Generation of negative torque due to the occurrence of compression self-ignition in the cylinder is effectively prevented.

[0029]
In step S1, it is determined as YES, and the engine is restarted when an accelerator operation or the like is performed to start the vehicle in a stopped state, the battery voltage decreases, or the in-vehicle air conditioner is activated. When it is confirmed that the condition is satisfied, the
[0030]
Specifically, as described later, the combustion chamber volumes of the two cylinders are obtained from the piston stop position detected by the stop position detection routine shown in FIG. In addition, when the engine is stopped, the engine stops after several revolutions from the time when the fuel is cut. The two cylinders are also filled with fresh air to some extent, and the cylinder pressure of each cylinder is substantially atmospheric pressure while the engine is stopped. Therefore, the amount of fresh air in each cylinder is determined from the combustion chamber volume. Can be requested. Note that when the operation state is idle operation with λ = 1 before the fuel cut, since the
[0031]
Next, based on the amount of air in the cylinder calculated in step S3, No. 2 in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped. After fuel injection F1 is performed so that the air-fuel ratio in the two cylinders is close to the theoretical air-fuel ratio (λ = 1) (step S4), when a time set in consideration of the fuel vaporization time has elapsed. , No. above. Ignition S1 for the two cylinders is executed (step S5).
[0032]
Further, based on the air amount in the cylinder calculated in the above step S3, No. 2 in the compression stroke when the engine is stopped. Fuel injection F2 is executed so that the air-fuel ratio in one cylinder is close to the theoretical air-fuel ratio (λ = 1) (step S6). It should be noted that when a time of about 1 minute elapses after the engine is stopped in the engine warm state where the engine coolant temperature is about 80 ° C., the air in the cylinder is kept at a predetermined temperature, for example, 100 °. Since it rises above C, the air density in the cylinder tends to be low. In such a case, it is preferable to correct the fuel injection amount for each cylinder according to the air density in the cylinder.
And said No .. After one cylinder reaches compression top dead center T, this No. While performing ignition S2 for one cylinder (step S7), whether or not the in-cylinder temperature at the time of restart of the engine estimated by the in-cylinder temperature estimation means provided in the
[0033]
When it is determined NO in step S8 and it is confirmed that the in-cylinder temperature is equal to or lower than the reference temperature, the above-described No. Fuel injection F3 is executed for the three cylinders at the time of 90 deg CA before the compression top (step S9). In order to make the air-fuel ratio A / F of the air-fuel mixture generated by the fuel injection F3 slightly rich such as about 14, the above-mentioned No. The fuel injection amount for the three cylinders is set. Then, this No. Immediately after the three cylinders reach top dead center T, ignition S3 is executed (step S10).
[0034]
On the other hand, if it is determined as YES in step S8 and it is confirmed that the in-cylinder temperature is higher than the reference temperature, the No. in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped. After stopping the fuel injection F3 for the three cylinders (step S11), the routine proceeds to a normal control state in which fuel injection and ignition are performed at normal timing (step S12). A reference engine speed used to determine whether or not to end the assist drive by the
[0035]
Then, it is determined whether or not the current engine speed Ne is equal to or higher than the reference speed R (step S14). If NO is determined, the process returns to step S13, and the speed Ne is released again. It is determined whether or not the rotational speed R is equal to or higher. And when it determines with YES in the said step S14, the drive of the
[0036]
FIG. 6 shows a piston stop position detection routine executed by a piston position detection means provided in the
[0037]
That is, at the time of forward rotation of the engine, as shown in FIG. 7A, the second crank angle signal CA2 is generated with a phase delay of about a half pulse width with respect to the first crank angle signal CA1, thereby the first crank angle signal. The second crank angle signal CA2 becomes Low when CA1 rises, and the second crank angle signal CA2 becomes High when the first crank angle signal CA1 falls. On the other hand, during reverse rotation of the engine, as shown in FIG. 7B, the second crank angle signal CA2 is generated with a phase advance of about a half pulse width with respect to the first crank angle signal CA1, so On the contrary, the second crank angle signal CA2 becomes High when the first crank angle signal CA1 rises, and the second crank angle signal CA2 becomes Low when the first crank angle signal CA1 falls.
[0038]
Therefore, if the determination in step S21 is YES, the CA counter for measuring the crank angle change in the forward rotation direction of the engine is increased (step S22). If the determination in step S21 is NO, the CA counter is increased. Down (step S23). Then, after stopping the engine, the piston stop position is obtained by examining the measured value of the CA counter (step S24).
[0039]
As described above, the
[0040]
That is, as shown in FIG. 8B, the engine is restarted by performing fuel injection to the cylinder in the expansion stroke and the compression stroke at the time of outputting the engine restart start signal and sequentially igniting the cylinder, It is configured to assist the restart by outputting a start drive signal for operating the
[0041]
When fuel is injected into the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped when the air temperature in the cylinder is high when the engine is restarted, the air-fuel mixture generated in response to the fuel injection is changed to FIG. As shown by the broken line P2 in FIG. 9B, the compression self-ignition before the compression upper point TDC is reached and the pressure in the cylinder rises, so that a large negative torque is generated as shown by the broken line T2 in FIG. 9B. At the same time, the driving torque generated after the compression upper point TDC is correspondingly reduced compared to the normal combustion indicated by the solid line T1 in FIG.
[0042]
Therefore, when it is confirmed that the air temperature in the cylinder is high when the engine is restarted, the fuel injection to the cylinder in the intake stroke is stopped when the engine is stopped as described above, and the compression self-ignition occurs. By preventing the occurrence of negative torque due to this, the startability of the engine can be effectively improved. When stopping the fuel injection to the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped, the intake valve is used to prevent the generation of negative torque due to the compression of the air in the cylinder in the compression stroke of this cylinder. It is desirable to maintain the intake valve in the open state during the compression stroke. That is, a control signal for opening the intake valve of the cylinder when the engine is restarted is output to an electromagnetically driven valve mechanism that opens and closes the intake valve, and the intake valve is kept in the compression stroke for a predetermined period. It is desirable to prevent the air in the cylinder from being compressed during the compression stroke by maintaining the open state.
[0043]
If the pinton stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is on the bottom dead center side, the pinton stop position of the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped is also on the bottom dead center side. Therefore, when fuel is injected into the cylinder, the compression self-ignition tends to occur particularly easily. Therefore, the piston position detection means provided in the
[0044]
On the other hand, when the pinton stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is on the top dead center side, the amount of air in the cylinder in the intake stroke is small when the engine is stopped, and fuel is injected into this cylinder. However, since the compression self-ignition tends not to occur, when the engine is stopped, the fuel is injected into the cylinder in the intake stroke and forcibly ignited, as shown by the solid line P1 in FIG. 9 (a). It is desirable to shorten the time required to restart the engine by increasing the pressure in the cylinder after the top dead center TDC.
[0045]
In the above-described embodiment, an example has been described in which the engine is restarted by sequentially injecting and igniting fuel to each cylinder while the
[0046]
Specifically, the piston stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is detected by piston position detection means provided in the ECU, and this piston stop position is a range indicated by hatching in FIG. A, that is, whether it is within the range corresponding to the middle stage region of the expansion stroke is determined, and if it is outside the range A and in the region B on the bottom dead center BDC side, it is shown in FIG. The engine restart control control, that is, the
[0047]
On the other hand, if the piston stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is out of the above range A and is in the region C on the top dead center TDC side, the
[0048]
Further, the piston stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is within the range A shown in FIG. 10 and is located on the top dead center TDC side from the intermediate position A0 between the top dead center TDC and the bottom dead center BDC of the piston. When it is confirmed that it is in (Area A1), the engine restart control shown in FIG. 11 is executed. In this restart control operation, first, based on the piston stop position of the cylinder detected by the piston stop position detecting means, the amount of air in the cylinder in the compression stroke and the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is calculated. (Step S101). That is, in the example shown in FIG. No. 1 in one cylinder and expansion stroke. The amount of air in each of the two cylinders is calculated.
[0049]
Subsequently, No. calculated in the above step S101. The amount of air in one cylinder, that is, No. 1 in the compression stroke at the engine stop time t. Based on the amount of fresh air in one cylinder, this No. An amount of fuel is set so that the air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture generated by injecting fuel into one cylinder is leaner than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio (step S102), and at the engine stop time t. No. in the expansion stroke. The amount of fuel injection F1 calculated so that the air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture formed by injecting fuel into the two cylinders becomes a predetermined value (for example, near λ = 1 or rich when λ ≦ 1) is No. This is executed for the two cylinders (step S103).
[0050]
And said No .. When a predetermined time required for the fuel injected into one cylinder to evaporate has passed, By igniting one cylinder and performing the first combustion (see arrow (1) in FIG. 12) (step S104), the crankshaft of the engine is reversed. After the first combustion, it is determined whether or not the piston has moved by detecting whether or not an edge of the crank angle sensor (rise or fall of the crank angle signal) has been detected (step S105).
[0051]
If the determination result in step S105 is NO and it is confirmed that the piston is not moving due to misfire, it is determined whether or not a predetermined time set in advance has elapsed (step S106). If so, after re-igniting (step S107), the process proceeds to step S105 to determine again whether or not the edge of the crank angle sensor has been detected.
[0052]
If it is determined as YES in step S106 and the piston does not move even after a predetermined time has elapsed after the start of the restart control, start assist control for operating the
[0053]
If it is determined YES in step S105 and it is confirmed that the engine has started to reverse within a predetermined time, the No. in the compression stroke when the engine is stopped. It is determined whether or not the reverse rotation amount of the crankshaft driven by performing the first combustion (1) in one cylinder is larger than a predetermined value set in advance (step S109). In this step S, NO is determined, and the amount of reverse rotation of the crankshaft is small. When it is confirmed that the air in the two cylinders is not sufficiently compressed, the process proceeds to step S108 and the start assist control is executed.
[0054]
If the determination in step S109 is YES, No. in the compression stroke when the engine is stopped. By performing the first combustion (1) in one cylinder, this No. It is determined whether or not the piston of one cylinder does not exceed the bottom dead center B (step S110), and it is determined as NO and the piston exceeds the bottom dead center B, that is, the first combustion (1). Accordingly, if it is confirmed that the negative torque generated by the reverse rotation of the crankshaft becomes too large, the routine proceeds to step S108 and the start assist control is executed.
[0055]
It is determined as YES in step S110 and No. When it is confirmed that the piston of one cylinder does not exceed the bottom dead center B, that is, the amount of reverse rotation of the crankshaft due to the first combustion (1) is an appropriate value, a predetermined time is detected after the detection of the edge. No. in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped. After performing ignition S1 for the two cylinders (step S111), determination control is executed as to whether or not start assist is required by operating the starter 31 (step S112).
[0056]
That is, the above-mentioned No. Whether or not the engine speed that has increased as a result of performing two-cylinder combustion and driving the engine forward is greater than or equal to a preset reference speed, or the time required to exceed this reference speed is preset. By determining whether or not it is longer than the set reference time, it is determined whether or not there is a high possibility that engine restart will fail. As a result of the determination, if it is determined that there is a high possibility that the engine will fail to restart, the
[0057]
Next, when the predetermined crank angle is reached, the engine is in the compression stroke when stopped. Fuel injection F2 and ignition S2 are performed again for one cylinder (step S113). In this case, no. The amount of fresh air remaining in one cylinder is calculated, and from the fuel injection F2, no. The fuel injection amount is set so that the air-fuel ratio in one cylinder is slightly richer than the theoretical air fuel. Thereafter, the second start assist determination control is executed at a predetermined timing (step S114), and the No. in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped. After the fuel injection F3 and the ignition S3 are executed for the three cylinders at a predetermined timing (step S115), the routine returns to shift to a normal control state.
[0058]
Further, the piston stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is within the range A shown in FIG. 10 and is located on the bottom dead center BDC side from the intermediate position A0 between the top dead center TDC and the bottom dead center BDC of the piston. When it is confirmed that it is in (region A2), No. obtained in step S102 of the flowchart showing the restart control shown in FIG. The air-fuel ratio of one cylinder (cylinder that is in the compression stroke when the engine is stopped) is set to the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio or richer than that, and A process similar to the restart control shown in FIG. 11 is executed except that the fuel injection F2 and the ignition S2 (step S113) are not performed again for one cylinder.
[0059]
As described above, when the piston stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is in a state where the engine is restarted by the fuel injections F1 to F3, the ignition S1 to S3, etc., that is, the piston stop position is as shown in FIG. When the control is performed to restart the engine by the fuel injections F1 to F3 and the ignition S1 to S3 without operating the
[0060]
In particular, as shown in the above-described embodiment, by performing the first combustion (1) in the cylinder in the compression stroke when the engine is stopped, the piston of the cylinder in the expansion stroke is raised when the engine is stopped, so that Since the combustion is performed in a state where the pressure of the engine is increased, the engine can be effectively rotated forward by effectively applying the combustion pressure of the cylinder in the expansion stroke to the piston when the engine is stopped. There is an advantage.
[0061]
Furthermore, in the above embodiment, when the piston stop position of the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped is in the region A1 on the top dead center TDC side (the bottom dead center side of the compression stroke cylinder) in the range A, the engine When the first combustion is performed in the cylinder in the compression stroke when the engine is stopped, the air-fuel ratio is set so that the combustion air exists in the cylinder, and the piston of this cylinder starts to rise and the compression top dead center is set. Since the second combustion is performed when exceeding, the first combustion (1) performed in the cylinder can sufficiently increase the pressure in the cylinder in the expansion stroke when the engine is stopped. The second combustion has the advantage that the starting torque can be greatly improved by effectively increasing the driving torque in the forward rotation direction of the engine.
[0062]
In the above embodiment, when the engine is restarted in a state where the air temperature in the cylinder is high, the generation of negative torque due to the occurrence of compression self-ignition is surely prevented. Although the example in which the fuel injection to the cylinder in the intake stroke is stopped to suppress the combustion of the cylinder has been described, the fuel injection timing for the cylinder in the intake stroke is retarded compared to the normal time when the engine is stopped. Thus, the combustion of the cylinder may be suppressed. In such a configuration, when the engine is restarted in a state where the air temperature in the cylinder is high, the fuel injection timing to the cylinder in the intake stroke is retarded when the engine is stopped, thereby suppressing fuel vaporization. By doing so, it is possible to effectively prevent the occurrence of negative torque due to the occurrence of compression self-ignition in the cylinder.
[0063]
Further, when the engine is restarted in a state where the air temperature in the cylinder is high, the air-fuel ratio A / F of the cylinder in the intake stroke when the engine is stopped is set to about 7 to 10 to make it richer than normal. As a result, a large amount of heat is taken away when the fuel injected into the cylinder is vaporized, so that the combustion of the cylinder may be suppressed. Even in such a configuration, there is an advantage that it is possible to effectively prevent the generation of negative torque due to the occurrence of compression self-ignition when the engine is restarted in a state where the air temperature in the cylinder is high. is there.
