【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、移動体通信機器、計測機器、医療機器、車載用電子機器等の操作パネルに使用される照光式のスイッチに関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来のクリックタイプの照光式スイッチとしては、図3に示すように自照式タクトスイッチ、あるいは図4に示すようなスイッチ21の脇に発光ダイオード(LED)22を配置するスイッチが公知である。

本出願人は特願平7−219450号にて図5に示すような面状発光体の照光式スイッチを提案している。この発明の照光式スイッチには面状発光体ELが透明なキー23の真下に配置されているため、照光ムラが無く薄型化への対応において他の方式に比べて優れている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
図3に示す自照式タクトスイッチを利用するものは、製品自体が厚くなり、機器の薄型化、軽量化への対応ができない。

また、図4に示すように発光ダイオード22を発光源として用いるスイッチは、LEDの消費電力が大きいため一個の製品に用いることのできる発光ダイオードの絶対数に限度が存し、そのため各キー間にLEDを配置している。したがってキーによっては輝度にバラツキが生じてしまう。

また、スイッチ数が少なく各キーに配置できるとしても、特にキーの真下に配置する場合、構造上複雑となり多大なコストを要してしまう。

また、特開平7−219450号の面状発光体の照光式スイッチにあっても、携帯機器はさらに小型、軽量になる傾向にあるため、さらなる薄型化、軽量化が求められている。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、照光式スイッチのバックライトとして照光ムラが無く薄型化が図れるEL素子を使用し、EL素子の最上層部の透明もしくは透光性熱可塑性樹脂あるいは次層の透明電極層とともにドーム状にエンボス成形してクリックタイプのバネ部を兼用させ、その下層のEL素子の中央部を切除した中空構造とすることで、その下層のEL素子をスペーサとして利用し、さらなる薄型化、軽量化を実現した。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明は、厚さ75〜250μmのポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリエチレンナフタレート等EL素子の最上層の透明電極層4付透明もしくは透光性熱可塑性樹脂3をエンボス成形によりドーム状に形成した。この樹脂の厚さは、75μm未満では反発性が弱く反転現象が起こりやすく、250μmを超えるとエンボス成形性が弱くなる。

さらにこのドーム状とした透明電極層4の内面に絶縁層11を形成する。

そしてこの絶縁層11の中心部分に上部接点部10を形成する。下方に位置する他のEL素子を構成する発光層5、誘電体層6、裏面電極層7および絶縁層8の上方ドーム部に対応する中央部を切除してあり、下部基板12には下部電極13が形成されてなる。これらのEL素子は、公知技術であるスクリーン印刷、蒸着等により簡単に形成できる。そして、半球状のエンボス形状も公知技術を用いて金型、治具等によって簡単に形成できる。

曲げ弾性変形可能な透明熱可塑性樹脂3の下面にITO等透明電極層4を蒸着等により膜状に加工し、これをドーム状にエンボス成形してあり、さらにこのドーム状の内側をエッチングや印刷により加工した絶縁層11を配置し、下部基板12の下部電極13に対応した接点部10を設けてあり、この下方でドーム立ち上がり部位置より外側に、順次発光層5、誘電体層6、裏面電極層7および絶縁層8を公知のEL素子の構造同様にスクリーン印刷によって積層して中空の面状発光体を形成してある。

さらに良好なクリック感を出すため、積層した最下面の絶縁層8に適度な厚みのスペーサ9を設け、下部基板12に設けた下部電極13と上部接点部10を整合する。上部には表示部1が粘着剤2にて固着された構造とした。

【発明の効果】
ELの上部透明電極であるPETフィルムをクリック感を持たせるようにエンボス成形した構造にすることにより、図5に示した公知例スイッチが厚さ0.6mmであったことに比べ、本発明実施例のスイッチは厚さ0.375mmとなり、0.225mm薄型化を図ることができた。また、発光素子として面状発光体であるELを利用しているため、照光ムラがない。このため均一にスイッチ表面を照光することが可能である。

本発明により小型携帯機器のさらなる小型化、軽量化を図ることができる。

さらに、積層された最下部の絶縁層あるいはスペーサにより、クリックを簡単に調整することも可能となる。

The present applicant has proposed an illuminated switch of a planar light emitting body as shown in FIG. 5 in Japanese Patent Application No. 7-219450. In the illumination type switch according to the present invention, the planar light-emitting body EL is disposed directly below the transparent key 23, so that there is no uneven illumination and is superior to other methods in reducing the thickness.

The present invention uses an EL element that does not have uneven illumination and can be thinned as a backlight of an illuminated switch, and has a dome shape together with a transparent or translucent thermoplastic resin of the uppermost layer of the EL element or a transparent electrode layer of the next layer.
