BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an amplifier and a wireless communication apparatus using the amplifier.
[0002]
[Prior art]
An amplifier in which a degenerate impedance element is connected to an emitter terminal or a source terminal of a transistor to take out an output from a collector terminal or a drain terminal in order to extend the linear operation range is described in, for example, page 199 of Non-Patent
[Expression 1]

[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In a low noise amplifier (LNA) that requires strict noise characteristics, it is considered difficult to sufficiently satisfy the requirements when resistors are used for both the degenerate impedance element and the load.
[0006]
There is also known an amplifier in which a low gain amplifier and a high gain amplifier are connected in parallel and a load is shared, but in such an amplifier, a low gain amplifier considers distortion characteristics, and a degenerate impedance element has a large inductor. Necessary. For this reason, the size of the inductor may be difficult to realize inside the integrated circuit.
[0007]
On the other hand, an amplifier using an inductor as a load and a resistor as a degenerate impedance element can save space and reduce the chip area of the integrated circuit. There is a problem that fluctuates.
[0008]
An object of the present invention is to provide an amplifier capable of suppressing fluctuations in gain due to variations in degenerative resistance and temperature changes, and a radio communication apparatus using the amplifier.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention relates to an amplifier formed by an integrated circuit, an amplification stage for amplifying an input signal from a signal input terminal and outputting a signal current depending on a resistance value of a degeneration resistor, and a signal output a load connected to the terminals, and the distribution ratio variable current distributor for distributing a portion of the load of the signal current output from the amplification stage, the control voltage to the thus the current distributor which depends on the resistance value of the degeneration resistor And a control circuit for controlling the distribution ratio. The amplifying stage includes, for example, an amplifying transistor and a degeneration resistor connected to the emitter terminal or the source terminal of the amplifying transistor, and an inductor is preferably used as a load.
[0010]
For example, when controlling the distribution ratio of the current distributor with a control voltage that depends on the resistance value of the degenerative resistor, the control voltage decreases as the resistance value increases, and the control voltage increases as the resistance value decreases. As a result, the gain of the amplifier can be kept constant even when the resistance value fluctuates. Similarly, when controlling the distribution ratio of the current distributor with a control voltage that also depends on temperature, control is performed such that the control voltage is low when the temperature rises and the control voltage is high when the temperature falls. By doing so, the gain of the amplifier can be kept constant even if the temperature fluctuates.
[0011]
The current distributor includes, for example, a first transistor and a second transistor having a common emitter terminal or a common source terminal connected to the output terminal of the amplification stage, and the collector terminal or drain terminal of the first transistor is a signal output terminal. The collector terminal or drain terminal of the second transistor is connected to the power source.
[0012]
According to the first aspect, the control circuit supplies a control voltage proportional to the resistance value of the degeneration resistor between the base terminal or gate terminal of the first transistor and the base terminal or gate terminal of the second transistor. The control circuit, according to the second aspect, further supplied to between the control voltage is also proportional to the temperature and the base terminal or gate terminal of the first transistor the base terminal or gate terminal of the second transistor.
[0013]
Furthermore, according to the present invention, a wireless communication apparatus using the above-described amplifier is provided. Specifically, for example, a low noise amplifier that amplifies the received high frequency signal, a local signal amplifier that amplifies the local signal, and a high frequency amplified by the low noise amplifier using the local signal amplified by the local signal amplifier. In a wireless communication apparatus having a frequency converter that converts a signal to a desired frequency, the amplifier according to the present invention is applied to at least one of a low noise amplifier and a local signal amplifier.
