BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a digital watermark technique which is a technique for embedding other sub information in a content such as an image or video so as not to be perceived, and reading the sub information. Today, the digital watermark technology is used in a copyright protection system for content, a service providing system for content, and the like.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A method of using content distribution as an advertising business by providing advertising information related to other services instead of providing only content data itself to users when distributing content such as images, video, and audio Has already been realized. Also, as a method for linking content and service information, a method using digital watermark technology has been proposed in order to maintain the linking even when analog output such as content editing and printing is performed (for example, a patent) Reference 1 and Patent Reference 2).
[0003]
In such a technique, for example, the content ID is embedded in the content using the digital watermark technology, and when the service information is presented, the content ID embedded in the content is used using the digital watermark technology. The service information associated with the content ID is read and presented. In addition, digital watermark analog conversion resistance (digital images printed on analog media such as paper can be re-digitized using an input device such as a scanner or camera, and digital watermarks can be detected from re-digitized images) It is also possible to provide related service information from content on analog media such as paper.
[0004]
However, with the conventional digital watermark technology, it is difficult to provide resistance to complicated geometric transformation such as projection conversion resistance of an image, and the amount of calculation processing is enormous. In addition, when using a system that provides related service information from paper media, the print image at hand is embedded with a digital watermark on the system, and whether the related service information can be obtained or not. It was not easy to know if the related service information was not obtained because it was not processed by the system. For this reason, there has been a problem that the user tries to detect digital watermarks from a number of contents outside the target system, resulting in a waste of time and effort.

It is characterized by that.
[0008]
The present invention also relates to a digital watermark detection system in which a digital watermark detection client device and a digital watermark detection server device are connected via a network and detects information invisiblely embedded in an image. [0018]
As a method for estimating geometric transformation parameters by recognizing correction markers, for example, “Yoshiyuki Shimizu, Naoya Ota, Kenichi Kanaya,“ Computation program for optimal projective transformation with reliability evaluation ”, Information Processing Society of Japan Research Report 98-CVIM -111-5 (1998-05), pp. 33-40, 1998.5.27 ”, there is a method of estimating projective transformation parameters from four reference points and four points after geometric transformation. Here, in the case of a correction marker in which a specific pattern is arranged at four corners of the image as shown in FIG. 10A, the initial coordinate value of the correction marker is taken as a predetermined reference point, and the point after geometric transformation is obtained. By taking the coordinate value of the pattern after geometric transformation obtained by the correction marker recognition as described above, it is possible to realize the projection transformation parameter (geometric transformation parameter) from the difference between the two.

[0022]
According to the first and second embodiments, a correction marker that is a mark representing a reference point or a reference line of an image is added at the time of embedding a digital watermark, and a geometric transformation parameter is estimated using the correction marker at the time of digital watermark detection. By correcting the input image, it is possible to realize the digital watermark resistance against complicated geometric transformation such as projective transformation. In addition, correction of geometric transformation using correction markers makes it easier to search for markers than invisible methods if the correction marker is visible. It is also possible to do. Furthermore, when the correction marker is made visible, the correction marker is appealed to the user as indicating that the related service information can be acquired from the content with the correction marker, so that the user can It becomes possible to easily know whether or not service information can be acquired.
[0023]
[Example 3]
In this embodiment, an analog image printed on paper is input and the watermark information is read and output as in the second embodiment, but the geometric transformation parameter is outside the range of a predetermined value. If so, the watermark detection is impossible and the process is terminated. FIG. 14 shows a configuration example of the digital watermark detection apparatus of this embodiment, and FIGS. 15 and 16 show processing flowcharts thereof.

[0027]
For example, as shown in FIG. 17A, when the geometric transformation (geometric deformation) applied to the analog input image is loose, the digital watermark can be detected after correction, but FIG. When the geometrical conversion is intense as in the above, image information is lost due to sampling at the time of analog / digital conversion, so that it is difficult to detect a digital watermark. As the degree of geometric transformation increases, it becomes difficult to detect a digital watermark. Therefore, the range of the value of the geometric transformation parameter is determined in advance from the degree of possibility of digital watermark detection. For example, when the target of geometric correction is projective transformation, as illustrated in FIGS. 10A and 10B, parameters of the projective transformation can be acquired by recognizing the correction marker. At this time, it is possible to perform the above-described processing based on the criterion that detection is possible only when the shooting angle of the camera with respect to the analog image is within a range of, for example, 15 degrees from the normal direction of the analog image.
[0028]
According to the present embodiment, in addition to the operations and effects of the first and second embodiments, the digital watermark detection process is performed only when the geometric transformation parameter estimated by the correction marker recognition is within a predetermined value range. By doing so, it is possible to reduce the amount of processing when digital watermark detection is impossible and to improve the total processing efficiency.
[0029]
[Example 4](Claim 1)
The present embodiment provides a client / server type digital watermark detection system comprising a digital watermark detection client device and a digital watermark detection server device connected via a network.
[0030]
FIG. 18 shows an overall configuration diagram of the digital watermark detection system of this embodiment. In FIG. 18, 1810 is a digital watermark detection client device, 1820 is a digital watermark detection server device, and 1830 is a network. [0033]
According to the present embodiment, the digital watermark detection process is separated into a first processing part that recognizes a correction marker and performs geometric transformation parameter estimation to perform geometric correction of an image, and a second processing part that detects a digital watermark. Further, only when the geometric transformation parameter estimated in the processing of the first processing portion is within a predetermined value range, the latter half of the processing of the second processing portion is performed, thereby making it impossible to detect the digital watermark. The amount of processing can be reduced, and the total processing efficiency can be improved. Furthermore, by adopting a client-server system in which the first processing portion and the determination portion are mounted on the client terminal and the second processing portion is mounted on the server, it is possible to detect and detect the digital watermark on the client terminal. By making a digital watermark detection processing request to the server only at times, the load on the server can be reduced and the response time for the user can be shortened. In addition, since communication between the client and the server is performed only when necessary, the amount of communication can be reduced. Furthermore, since the digital watermark detection process is performed by the server, the confidentiality of the algorithm is increased and the safety is also improved.
[0034]
[Example 5](Claim 2)
The present embodiment provides a client / server type digital watermark detection system comprising a digital watermark detection client device and a digital watermark detection server device connected via a network, as in the fourth embodiment. However, in addition to the electronic watermark detection function, the server also has a geometric conversion function.
[0035]
FIG. 19 shows an overall configuration diagram of the digital watermark detection system of this embodiment. In FIG. 19, 1910 is a digital watermark detection client device, 1920 is a digital watermark detection server device, and 1930 is a network. Also in this case, in general, a plurality (many) of digital watermark detection client devices can share the digital watermark detection server device 1920 via the network 1930.

[0038]
According to the present embodiment, compared with the previous embodiment 4, by performing the geometric transformation correction process on the server side instead of the client side, digital watermark detection can be performed even using a client terminal with lower processing capability. It becomes possible to carry out efficiently.
[0039]
[Example 6]
This embodiment is obtained by omitting the detection feasibility determination unit of the digital watermark detection client device in the fourth and fifth embodiments. Other than that, the configuration is the same as in the fourth and fifth embodiments, and the drawings are omitted. The operation of this embodiment is basically the same as that of the second embodiment. According to the present embodiment, the configuration of the digital watermark detection client apparatus is simplified and the inexpensive client apparatus can be provided by omitting the detectability determination unit. Actually, depending on the user's needs, a digital watermark detection client device provided with a detection availability determination unit and a digital watermark detection client device without the detection availability determination unit of the present embodiment are mixed on the network.
[0040]
Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, some or all of the processing functions of the digital watermark embedding device, the digital watermark detection device, and the like are configured by a computer program, and the program is executed using the computer. Needless to say, the processing procedure can be configured by a computer program and the program can be executed by the computer. In addition, a computer-readable recording medium such as an FD, an MO, a ROM, a memory card, or a CD is stored in a computer-readable program for realizing the processing function by the computer or for causing the computer to execute the processing procedure. In addition, the program can be recorded and stored on a DVD, a removable disk, etc., and the program can be distributed through a network such as the Internet.
[0041]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, a correction marker that is a mark representing a reference point or a reference line of an image is added at the time of embedding an electronic watermark, and at the time of detection, how much the reference point or the reference line is from a predetermined state using the correction marker. By correcting the image by estimating the geometric transformation parameter indicating whether it is distorted, it is possible to realize the resistance of the digital watermark to complicated geometric transformation such as projective transformation. In addition, correction of geometric transformation using the correction marker facilitates correction processing because the marker search is easier than the invisible method if the correction marker is visible. Furthermore, when the correction marker is made visible, the correction marker is appealed to the user as indicating that the related service information can be acquired from the content with the correction marker, so that the user can relate to the content from the content. It is possible to easily know whether or not service information can be acquired.
[0042]
According to the present invention, the digital watermark detection process is separated into a processing part for recognizing a correction marker, estimating a geometric transformation parameter and performing geometric transformation correction on the image, and a processing part for detecting a digital watermark, By performing the latter half of the process only when the geometric transformation parameters estimated in the first half of the process are within a predetermined value range, the amount of processing when digital watermark detection is impossible can be reduced, and the total Can improve the processing efficiency.
[0043]
Furthermore, according to the present invention, the determination of whether or not the digital watermark can be detected is performed on the client terminal by adopting a client-server system in which the first half of the process and the determination part are mounted on the client terminal and the second half is mounted on the server. It is possible to reduce the load on the server by making a second half process request to the server only when it can be detected, and the response time for the user can be shortened. In addition, since communication between the client and the server is performed only when necessary, the amount of communication can be reduced. Furthermore, since the digital watermark detection process is performed by the server, the confidentiality of the algorithm is increased and the safety is also improved.
[0044]
Further, according to the present invention, by performing the geometric transformation correction process on the server side, not on the client, it is possible to efficiently detect the digital watermark even when using a client terminal with lower processing capability.
