この発明は、複写機・プリンター・ファクシミリ・印刷機・シュレッダ等の用紙使用機器に適用し得る給紙装置に関し、詳しくは、用紙をトレイなどから給紙する際の用紙捌き機構を改良した給紙装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、上記複写機やプリンター等においては、画像の複写やプリント等を行うため、複写機やプリンター等の本体内部に配設された給紙カセットや、装置本体の外部に配設された手差しトレイなどの給紙装置によって、普通紙や厚紙、あるいはOHPシート等の用紙を給紙するように構成されている。

上記複写機やプリンター等の用紙使用機器に使用されている給紙装置は、給紙すべき用紙を給紙用のトレイ上に載置して、当該給紙用のトレイ上に載置された用紙の先端部を、分離パッドによって半月状や円筒状に形成された給紙ロールに押圧し、この給紙ロールに押圧する分離パッドによって、給紙用のトレイ上に載置された用紙を1枚ずつ分離して給紙するように構成されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記従来技術の場合には、次のような問題点を有している。すなわち、上記従来の給紙装置の場合には、給紙ロールに分離パッドが単に押圧することによって、給紙用のトレイ上に載置された用紙を1枚ずつ分離して給紙するように構成したものであるため、吸湿等によって端縁部が波打ち状に変形した用紙や、厚紙などを給紙する際に、用紙と給紙ロールとの接触状態が確実に得られず、重送やミスフィードが発生するという問題点を有していた。

また、上記従来の給紙装置の場合には、分離パッドを支持する部分の精度が出ていないと、給紙ロールと分離パッドが片当たりしてしまい、分離パッドの圧力が給紙ロールに均等に掛からず、重送やミスフィード、あるいはスキューなどの走行不良が発生するという問題点をも有していた。

かかる問題点を解決するためには、分離パッドの寸法精度や取り付け精度を向上させることが考えられるが、この場合には、大幅なコストアップを招くという別の問題点が生じる。

そこで、この発明は、上記従来技術の問題点を解決するためになされたものであり、その目的とするところは、大幅なコストアップを招くことなく、波打ち状に変形した用紙や厚紙などを、精度良く給紙することができると共に、分離パッドの片当たり等に起因する用紙の走行不良が発生するのを確実に防止することが可能な給紙装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
すなわち、請求項1に記載の発明は、複数の給紙用回転部材と、これら複数の給紙用回転部材に圧接する分離用パッド部材とを有する給紙装置において、前記複数の給紙用回転部材間に、用紙を給紙用回転部材側に付勢する用紙搬送補助部材を設け、前記用紙搬送補助部材は、分離用パッド部材に係合するように構成されているとともに、給紙用回転部材への当接方向に所定の自由度を持って分離用パッド部材に従動するように構成したものである。

図2において、1は手差しトレイの本体を示すものであり、この手差しトレイ本体1は、図示しない画像形成装置本体の側面に取り付けられている。上記手差しトレイ本体1は、用紙2を載置するための用紙載置板部3を備えており、この用紙載置板部3は、必要に応じて、用紙2を載置した状態で、当該用紙2の先端部を後述する給紙ロール4に圧接するように上方に移動するように付勢されている。また、上記用紙載置板部3は、その幅方向の一端部(図示例では、右側の端部)を基準にして、用紙2を載置した状態で給紙する方式を採用しており、当該用紙載置板部3の幅方向の一端部には、用紙の端部を揃えるサイドガイド5が固定した状態で設けられている。

以上の構成において、この実施の形態に係る給紙装置では、次のようにして、大幅なコストアップを招くことなく、波打ち状に変形した用紙や厚紙などを、精度良く給紙することができると共に、分離パッドの片当たり等に起因する用紙の走行不良が発生するのを確実に防止することが可能となっている。
