本発明は、インフレータより発生する出力圧で膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを有するエアーバッグ装置をシートバックフレームの片側部に装備すると共に、そのエアーバッグ装置の装備側を被包するトリムカバーの前面カバー部と側面カバー部との端末を縫い合わせた縫い目からエアーバッグの膨張展開に伴うトリムカバーの破断部を形成するサイドエアーバッグ装置を備える車輌用シートの改良に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
一般に、車輌用シートにおいては側突に伴う衝撃緩和対策として座者の胴側部に向けて膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを備えるものと、座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に向けて膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを備えるものとがある。また、後者においては座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に向けて膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを各々有する二つのエアーバッグ装置を個別に備えるものと、座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に向け膨張展開可能な膨らみ部分を発生する一つのエアーバッグを有するエアーバッグ装置を備えるものとがある。

従来、サイドエアーバッグ装置を備える車輌用シートにおいては、トリムカバーの一般部を通常用いられる強度の縫い糸から縫い合わせる以外に、エアーバッグ装置の装備側を被包するトリムカバーの前面カバー部と側面カバー部との端末間を相対的に強度の弱い縫い糸から縫い合わせ、その強度の弱い縫い糸による縫い目からインフレータの出力によるエアーバッグの膨張圧で切開する破断部を形成するものが提案されている(特開平8−216820号)。

然し、そのトリムカバーの破断部はエアーバッグの膨張圧で容易に切れる糸とは言っても、通常の使い勝手に耐えられる強度のある程度強い縫い糸で縫合しなければならない。また、エアーバッグの膨張展開に伴ってはトリムカバーが引っ張られることによって少なくとも材質的に伸びるため、エアーバッグの膨張による応力をトリムカバーの破断部に瞬時に集中させることができない。特に、エアーバッグをふんわり,柔らかく膨張展開させるようインフレータの出力を低く設定すると、トリムカバーの破断部を効果的に切開させるのが難しい。

そのエアーバッグの膨張圧をトリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目に集中させることに着眼し、片端末をトリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目に共縫いすることにより、伸びの少ない材質の力布をトリムカバーの内側に張設配置する車輌用シートが提案されている(特開平9−71204号、特開平9−71205号、特開平9−123860号)。

然し、その力布はトリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目を隔て片側の側面カバー部側にのみ備え付けられているのに過ぎない。このため、トリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目を隔て、力布が備え付けられていない側がエアーバッグの膨張圧を受けることにより伸びるのを抑えることができず、エアーバッグの膨張による応力をトリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目に瞬時に集中させて縫い糸の一部を素早く切ることからすれば十分とは言えない。

この他に、片端末を前面カバー部の端末と共縫いすることにより力布をトリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目を隔て前面カバー部側に備え付けるものも提案されている(特開平9−39711号、特開平9−76868号)。然し、これにてもトリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目を隔てて力布を片側のみに備え付けるのに過ぎないため、トリムカバーの力布が備え付けられていない側がエアーバッグの膨張圧を受けることにより伸びるのを抑えることができない。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明は、インフレータより発生する出力圧で膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを各々有するエアーバッグ装置を座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に相当させて個別に備えるもので、各エアーバッグの膨張圧を力布でトリムカバーの破断部に瞬時に集中させることにより、インフレータの出力圧を低く設定しても、トリムカバーの破断部をエアーバッグの膨張圧で確実に切開可能なサイドエアーバッグ装置を備える車輌用シートを提供することを目的とする。

本発明の請求項1に係るサイドエアーバッグ装置を備える車輌用シートにおいては、インフレータより発生する出力圧で膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを各々有するエアーバッグ装置をシートバックフレームの片側部で座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に相当させて並設し、その各エアーバッグ装置の装備側を被包するトリムカバーの前面カバー部と側面カバー部との端末を縫い合わせた縫い目からエアーバッグの膨張展開に伴うトリムカバーの破断部を形成すると共に、片端末をトリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目に共縫いし、且つ、他端末をシートバックフレーム側に止めて、該破断部となる縫い目からトリムカバーの前面カバー部並びに側面カバー部の双方に渡る内側に、伸びの少ない力布を設け少なくとも前記側面カバー部側の力布は座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に相当する各エアーバッグの膨張展開領域に互いに所定距離離間して個別に備えられることにより構成されている。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、添付図面を参照して説明すると、図1はインフレータより発生する出力圧で膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを各々有するエアーバッグ装置1(1′)を車の前方側から見て、座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に相当させて並設し、シートバックBの右側部縦方向に個別に収容装備するアシスタントシートを示す。

そのアシスタントシートでは、シートバックBのトリムカバー2においてエアーバッグの膨張展開に伴う破断部3がエアーバッグ装置1(1′)の装備側を被包する前面カバー部2a(バケットシートの場合、バックパッドの土手部を被包するカバー部分を示す。)と側面カバー部2bとの端末間を縫い合わせた縫い目2cで形成されている。

トリムカバー2は、本革,合皮,ファブリック等の単材または表皮材,ワディング材,裏打材を三者一体に積層形成したワディングカバーを用いて形成することができる。このトリムカバー2は土手部を有するシートバックBに対応し、座面中央から左右の土手面を被包する前面側と周側面から背面に至る側面側とを縫い合わせ、図2で示すようにバックカバー6を備える場合には背部の開放された袋状に縫製されている。また、バックカバーレスタイプのものでは側面側と背面側との端末を縫い合わせることにより下部側が開放された立体形の袋状に縫製される。

そのトリムカバー2は通常の使い勝手に耐えられる番手数8番程度の糸を上下の縫い糸とし、全体をミシン掛けすることにより所定の袋状に縫製することができる。また、一般部は番手数8番程度の糸を上下の縫い糸として縫製し、トリムカバー2の破断部3となる縫い目2cは番手数8番程度の糸と番手数20番程度の糸とを上下の縫い糸として縫い付けることにより通常の使い勝手に耐えられる強度を保って切開し易く縫製することもできる。この破断部3は、エアーバッグの膨張による応力で縫い目2cの縫い糸を切りまたはトリムカバー2の縫い代をほつれ出させることによって切開可能に形成することができる。

このように構成する車輌用シートでは、車体側に装備された衝撃センサーが作動し、その衝撃センサーから出力信号がインフレータに送信されると、エアーバッグがインフレータの出力圧を受けて膨張展開する。これに伴って、エアーバッグ装置1,1’がケース収容型のものであると、ケース蓋1bが膨張するエアーバッグで押されて開放方向に回転し、そのケース蓋1bの開放側には力布8a,8bが張設配置されていることによりエアーバッグの膨張圧が力布8a,8bの広い面積側に作用する。また、短い辺側を位置合わせさせて共縫いされた力布7a,7bにもエアーバッグの膨張による応力が力布8a,8bの短い辺より作用する。

以上の如く、本発明の請求項1に係るサイドエアーバッグ装置を備える車輌用シートに依れば、インフレータより発生する出力圧で膨張展開可能なエアーバッグを各々有するエアーバッグ装置をシートバックフレームの片側部で座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に相当させて並設し、トリムカバーの前面カバー部並びに側面カバー部の双方に渡る内側に、伸びの少ない力布を設け少なくとも側面カバー部側の力布は座者の胴側部並びに頭側部に相当する各エアーバッグの膨張展開領域に互いに所定距離離間して個別に備えられることから、伸びの少ない力布の間に力布よりも伸びやすい側面カバー部があるためエアーバッグ膨張時の伸びに差が生まれて破断部となる縫い目が切開しやすくなるこれにより、インフレータの出力を低く設定することによっても、トリムカバーの破断部となる縫い目を迅速且つ確実に切開することができる。
