2座席車両の多くは、車体のねじり剛性の増強並びに側面衝突時の車室変形の抑制のために、左右のセンタピラーの内面同士間がクロスメンバで結ばれている。従来のクロスメンバは、車体側面の剛性を確保するための部材であるセンタピラーインサイドパネルに対して溶接付けで直接結合されることが一般的であった。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかるに、上記従来の構成によると、トランクルーム内に固定されたクロスメンバが、製造ラインに於けるトランクルーム内への補機類の搭載作業、あるいはメインテナンス時における補機類の着脱作業の障害となり得た。

本発明は、このような従来技術の問題点を解消するべく案出されたものであり、その主な目的は、十分な強度を確保することができ、しかも製造時並びに保守整備時の補機類の着脱作業性を低下させずに済むように構成された車体のクロスメンバを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
このような目的を果たすために、本発明では、車体のクロスメンバ(1)を、左右のセンタピラー(2)の近傍の内面に固着されたブラケット(3)に対し、反復着脱自在な結合手段(ナット部材6及びボルト8)を介してその各端が結合されるものとし、その断面形状が上側が狭い台形をなす部分を有するブラケットの外面に接合すべく前記ブラケットに対応した台形をなす部分を有すると共に前壁(WF)がその下縁側を後退させた階段状をなす中空材からなり、且つ前記ブラケットの外面に上方から被せるべくその下壁の左右各端が部分的に切除されているものとした。これによれば、必要に応じてクロスメンバを車体から容易に取り外すことができるので、製造時並びに保守整備時の補機類の着脱作業性を低下させずに済むことはもとより、ブラケットに対するクロスメンバの着脱作業性を向上し得る。しかも、前壁の断面形状を階段状にして複雑化することにより、重量の増大を最小限に抑えた上で車体の側方から大きな荷重が加わった際の応力分布の最適化を企図することができる。

特に、クロスメンバをセンタピラーの後方の荷室と車室とを隔てる部位に設け、階段状部分の下縁側を車室と荷室とを仕切るパーティションの取付部とすれば(請求項2)、パーティションの接合面が窪んでいるので、パーティションを取り付けるボルトの頭を突出させずに済む。また、後壁に後方へ延出するフランジを設け、該フランジをラゲッジシェルフの支持部とすれば(請求項3)、ラゲッジシェルフを独立して反復着脱自在なものとすることができ、しかもラゲッジシェルフ上に載置した物品の車室内への落下を防止するためのストッパとしての機能をクロスメンバに持たせることができる。

本発明によるクロスメンバ1は、左右のセンタピラー2の近傍に於ける車体内面に固着されたブラケット3に対してその各端を結合するようになっている(図1参照)。

ブラケット3は、図2に併せて示すように、クロスメンバ1との接合面の断面形状が上側が狭い台形をなすように、板材で形成されている。そして固定端側に折り曲げ形成された耳板4をスポット溶接することにより、車室の側壁をなすインサイドパネル5に対して固着されている。

他方、クロスメンバ1は、押出成型によって中空に形成されており、その断面形状は、上側が狭い台形とされている。そしてその各端の下壁が部分的に切除されており(図2の想像線の部分)、クロスメンバ1の各端をブラケット3に上方から被せることにより、ブラケット3の外面にその内面が接合するようにされている。このように、クロスメンバ1のブラケット3との接合面の断面形状を上側が狭い台形とすることにより、ブラケット3に対して上方から取り付ける際の作業性が高められる。

このように本発明によれば、必要に応じてクロスメンバを取り外すことができるので、製造ラインに於けるトランクルーム内への補機類の搭載作業、あるいはメインテナンス時に於けるトランクルーム内からの補機類の取り外し作業にクロスメンバが障害とならずに済む。即ち本発明により、十分な強度を確保することができ、しかも製造時並びに保守整備時の補機類の着脱作業性を低下させることのないクロスメンバを提供することができる。
