BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a telephone, more specifically, a cellular phone, a PHS terminal, or a fixed telephone having a mail function.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, a mobile phone, a PHS terminal, a telephone such as a fixed phone, a pager or the like has a mail function capable of exchanging text messages. In the mail function in such an apparatus, the maximum number of transmission characters (or capacity) that can be transmitted is very limited as compared with electronic mail using a personal computer. This makes it very inconvenient if you don't know how many more characters you can send while composing a message.
[0003]
In consideration of this, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-276305 discloses a conventional technique for displaying the number of remaining transmittable digits or the number of remaining transmittable characters on a display unit while creating a message. That is, in this prior art, an auto dialer having a character message transmission function is disclosed, and when character data or numeric data to be transmitted is input by this device, the number of remaining transmittable digits and the number of remaining transmittable characters are displayed on the display unit. . Therefore, it is possible to create a transmission message while confirming how much data can be transmitted.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
For example, in a mail function such as a mobile phone or a PHS terminal, when the type of a character to be input is changed, for example, even single byte characters, control information such as a control code is included in a transmission message in addition to a character code. May be inserted. Also, when using both single-byte characters that are 1-byte characters and full-width characters that are 2-byte characters, these can be mixed by inserting a control code.
[0005]
However, in the prior art described in the above document, the number of characters that can be entered is calculated regardless of whether half-width or full-width for the input character data. This type of control code, which can be used, has not been counted.
[0006]
In a mail function such as a cellular phone or a PHS terminal, a capacity that can be transmitted is determined, and it is necessary to calculate the number of characters that can be transmitted based on this capacity. Therefore, in the conventional technique shown in the above document, when the control information is included in the transmission data, only the number of characters is simply counted, so the remaining number of transmittable digits displayed on the display unit and the remaining transmission possible There arises a problem that the number of characters cannot actually be transmitted.
[0007]
In addition, the mail function of a mobile phone or a PHS terminal has a short sentence creation mode of about 20 characters, for example, and a long sentence creation mode of about 100 characters, for example, and it is convenient to select one to create a transmission sentence. is there. Also, when composing a message using these two text creation modes, first create a text message in the short text creation mode, and switch to the long text creation mode when the number of characters increases. If it can be done, the degree of freedom of writing will be increased, and the operability for the user will be greatly improved.
[0008]
However, in the prior art described in the above document, it is assumed that the maximum number of characters that can be input is stored in advance. For this reason, it is not possible to cope with the case where the maximum number of characters that can be input changes during the sentence creation mode switching operation. In any case, the above-mentioned conventional technique only counts the number of characters, so if the transmission data contains control information or if the creation mode is changed during the process, the exact remaining number of characters that can be transmitted is determined. It could not be displayed on the display.
[0009]
The present invention solves such a problem of the prior art, and even when a control code is included in a transmitted sentence, the remaining number of characters that can be transmitted can be accurately displayed, and the maximum number of characters that can be transmitted changes during sentence creation. However, it is an object of the present invention to provide a telephone with a mail function that can display an accurate remaining number of characters that can be transmitted at any time.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention provides a telephone with a mail function that transmits a created character message, including a character code selection unit, a display unit, a character message creation unit, and a remaining inputable character number calculation unit. The character code selection means selects a character code corresponding to the input key in the character message creation mode for creating a character message. The display means displays the character of the character code selected by the character code selection means. The character message creation means combines the character codes selected by the character code selection means into a character message, and adds a control code according to the content of the character message. The remaining inputable character number calculating means counts the total data capacity of the character code and control code created by the character message creating means, and subtracts this counted capacity from the total transmittable capacity to transmit The number of remaining characters is calculated in real time, and the mail function has a short text creation mode that creates a short text message and a long text creation mode that creates a long text message, and instructions for switching from the short text creation mode to the long text creation mode, or When the maximum number of characters that can be input is converted by an instruction to switch from the long sentence creation mode to the short sentence creation mode, the remaining inputable character number calculating means calculates the number of characters that can be transmitted based on the switching instruction and displays it on the display means.
[0011]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Next, an embodiment of a telephone with a mail function according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In this embodiment, a case where the telephone with mail function according to the present invention is applied to a PHS terminal will be described as an example.

The remaining number of characters that can be entered is calculated by counting the total data capacity of the character code and control code created in the message creation process, and subtracting this counted capacity from the total transmittable capacity. In this process, the remaining number of characters that can be calculated is calculated and displayed on the
[0020]
Here, the character code and control code transmitted to the counterpart terminal as a character message will be briefly described with reference to FIG. When “Ayu” is first input in the katakana mode by the key 27 and subsequently “Ayu” is input after switching to the hiragana mode, “Ayu Ayu” is stored in the RAM 24a which is a display memory. "That" is displayed on the

On the other hand, the RAM 24b, which is a memory for transmission, stores character codes “Aiu” and “Aiu”, and a control code for switching to “Hiragana” is inserted between them. In this way, when “Katakana” and “Hiragana” are mixed, they are displayed correctly at the transmission destination by the control code, so that the number of remaining characters that can be transmitted is reduced accordingly. Since the
[0022]
In this embodiment, a character message composed of a character code and a control code stored in the RAM 24b is stored at the destination subaddress in the transmission data. FIG. 3 shows the data format of the destination subaddress. As shown in FIG. 3, the destination subaddress has one octet of 8 bits, 1 octet is the destination subaddress information element identifier area, 2 octets are the destination subaddress content length area, 3 octets are the extension, subaddress type, E / O, It is a reserved area.
[0023]
This called subaddress conforms to RCR STD-28, which is the second generation cordless telephone system standard, and in this embodiment, 4 to 23 octets are used as the character information area. A character message is stored in 4 to 23 octets in a relationship of 1 octet = 1 character. Therefore, a total of 20 characters can be transmitted for character messages.
[0024]
In this way, a character message can be transmitted up to 20 characters at a time including a control code. In this embodiment, such a mode for creating a character message of up to 20 characters that can be sent at once is referred to as a short sentence creation mode, and a mode for creating a character message of up to 100 characters is referred to as a long sentence creation mode. Messages created in the long text creation mode are sent in a maximum of 5 times.
[0025]
FIG. 1 is a flowchart showing the operation of creating a text message. The flow of processing when creating a text message using the mail function of this embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. When creating a text message, first, the creation of a message is started by selecting the short text creation mode or the long text creation mode (S100). By selecting these message creation modes, the maximum transmission data capacity that can be stored in the RAM 24b is set (S102).

If the message generation mode is switched as a result of determining the input code in step S106 (S122), the setting of the maximum transmission data capacity that can be stored in the RAM 24b is changed according to the switched mode. Further, when the input code is determined in step S106 and a key input for the completion of character input is detected, a mode is entered in which the telephone number of the transmission destination is input. When the telephone number is dialed in this mode (S117), the

[0031]
While waiting (400), when the [P mail / symbol / hold] key is pressed, the mail function is activated and the initial screen of the mail function is displayed (402). When the [P mail / symbol / hold] key is further pressed from the initial screen of the mail function, a text message creation mode is entered (404). At this time, a cursor indicating the character input position appears in the second line and the second digit, and the number of remaining characters that can be input in the fourth line and the type of input character (“Kana” for Katakana, “Aa” for English) "12" for numbers and "Kanji" for kanji characters) are displayed.
[0032]
When a character is input by the key 27, the input character and the number of remaining characters that are reduced in accordance with the input character are displayed on the display device (406). In addition to katakana and alphanumeric characters that are 1-byte characters, or kanji that are 2-byte characters (counted as 2 characters in the case of kanji), the characters counted as characters are also spaces, punctuation marks, and punctuation marks in the input characters. Treated as one character. Further, as described above, the control code that is entered when the type of the input character is changed in the middle is also counted as one character. Therefore, it is possible to create a character message while confirming the number of characters that can be transmitted.
[0033]
When the creation of the text message is completed and the [Phonebook / Select] key is pressed, a screen for inquiring the destination of the text message is displayed (408). When the other party's telephone number is entered using the key 27, the other party's telephone number is called in the telephone book, etc., and the call operation is performed by pressing [Call / Catch], a text message transmission screen appears and the set telephone number is displayed. A text message is sent to the number (410). For example, when the operator performs input exceeding the maximum number of characters, not only the remaining number of characters but also a notification sound may be notified.
[0034]
In the description of FIG. 5, the case of the short sentence creation mode for creating a text message of up to 20 characters has been described as an example, but an operation when switching from the short sentence creation mode to the long sentence creation mode in the middle will be described with reference to FIG. 6.
[0035]
When the number of remaining characters that can be input during the creation of the character message is smaller than the number of characters to be input (600), the short sentence creation mode can be switched to the long sentence creation mode. That is, when the [# />] key of the key 27 is pressed for about 1 second, a screen for creating the next 20 characters is displayed and a long text creation mode is set (602). When the [</ #] key is pressed for about 1 second in the state of the
[0036]
Switch to the long text creation mode, input a text message on the next screen and complete the transmission message (604), and inquire the transmission destination of the text message by pressing the [Phonebook / Select] key as in FIG. A screen is displayed (606). Thereafter, as described with reference to FIG. 5, when the other party's telephone number is entered using the key 27 or the other party's telephone number is called from the telephone book, and a call operation is performed by pressing [Call / Catch], a text message is displayed. Will be displayed and a text message will be sent to the set phone number.
[0037]
FIG. 7 is an explanatory diagram showing an operation when a text message created in the long text creation mode is transmitted in a maximum of 5 times. As shown in FIG. 7, the transmission of the text message in the long sentence creation mode is performed by the destination partner terminal in a 20 character unit, so the call is automatically repeated and the text message is sent to the same partner terminal. Will be sent. The order of messages to be sent may be edited later. In addition, the long sentence creation mode can be changed to the short sentence creation mode, but in this case, the first 20 characters of the first screen automatically remain, and the characters entered thereafter may be deleted. Moreover, you may enable it to select the message of the screen to leave.
[0038]
As described above in detail, according to the present embodiment, when creating a mail in which “Hiragana” and “Katakana” are mixed, in addition to the character information, the display method of the character message is changed. A control code which is control information is added. Even in this case, the number of remaining characters is calculated even in the data area used by the control information, so that the number of remaining characters that can be input is known accurately even if the data that is not displayed is included in the data to be transmitted. be able to.
[0039]
In addition, since the number of characters that can be sent is 20 while creating a normal text message, the remaining number of characters that are already used out of the 20 characters is displayed. It can be created at once. In this case, the number of characters remaining after subtracting already used characters out of 100 characters when entering the long sentence creation mode is changed. Therefore, even if the operator changes the setting during the creation of the sentence, each time the operator can confirm how many characters can be input in that state, it becomes very easy to create the sentence.
[0040]
In the above-described embodiment, as an example of the control code that is not displayed, the character conversion that switches between “Hiragana” display and “Katakana” display as shown in FIG. 4, for example, has been described as an example. It is not limited to only. That is, when a voice message is transmitted together with a character message, a code used for the data, a code for controlling the display of the LED of the telephone, a decoration (a frame, etc.) on the character when the character is displayed It is also possible to attach to the character data a code to be applied, a code for displaying / operating the character, a code for setting a transmission time, and the like. Even in such a case, if the present invention is used, it is possible to display the remaining number of characters that can be input after subtracting the transmission data area used in the code data.
[0041]
In addition, when there is a change in the number of characters that can be transmitted other than the operation by the operator other than when changing from the long sentence creation mode to the short sentence creation mode, the remaining number of characters display can be changed triggered by the event. Further, in this embodiment, the text message is sent in the destination subaddress information (data format) as shown in FIG. At this time, even if control information for displaying a character frame or control information for displaying a frame frame together with a character message is included in a certain octet for inputting character information, the present invention accurately calculates the number of remaining characters that can be input. Can be displayed.
[0042]
In the above embodiment, the case where the telephone having the mail function according to the present invention is applied to the PHS terminal is described as an example. However, the present invention is not particularly limited to the PHS terminal, and the mobile phone having the mail function is provided. It may be a telephone or a fixed telephone connected to a wired line. Further, it may be an information terminal having both a mail function and a telephone function.
[0043]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the telephone with a mail function of the present invention, the remaining number of characters that can be input can be accurately displayed even if a control code other than the character string is included in the character message. Further, even if the maximum number of characters that can be transmitted changes during the creation of the text message, the corresponding number of remaining characters that can be input can be displayed at any time.
