[Industrial application fields]
The present invention relates to a diversity receiving antenna used in a portable wireless device such as a cellular phone.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, a diversity reception system has been used for the purpose of improving call quality in a fading environment of a portable wireless device such as a cellular phone. It is known that there are two types of diversity systems. One is post-detection selection diversity, and the other is antenna switching diversity. The present invention relates to an antenna used for antenna switching diversity.
[0003]
Antenna switching diversity is a method in which a time for antenna selection is provided before a reception burst in a TDMA frame, the reception power levels of antenna 1 and antenna 2 are compared, and switching is performed by switch 3 as shown in FIG. This method has an advantage that only one receiving circuit is required as compared with selection diversity after detection. On the other hand, antenna switching is not possible during burst reception, so there is a disadvantage that the effect is inferior to selection diversity after detection. However, if the speed of the moving body in the fading environment is below a certain level (maximum Doppler frequency is below a certain level) Have been found to be effective.
[0004]
FIG. 11 shows a state where two antennas for diversity are installed in the portable wireless device. (A) has shown the state in which two linear antennas were installed. Further, (b) shows a state in which one linear antenna and one built-in planar antenna are installed.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The shape of the portable wireless device is changing in the direction of miniaturization, and when two antennas are installed, a sufficient distance cannot be placed between the antennas in the case of several hundred MHz to GHz band compared to the wavelength. For example, in the case of the 800 MHz band, the distance between the antennas is inevitably much smaller than λ / 4. If the distance between the antennas cannot be sufficient when performing diversity reception, there will be a problem of degrading the gain of the selected antenna when unintended reception power consumption occurs in the unselected antenna. To do.
[0006]
An object of the present invention is to prevent the deterioration of the gain at the use frequency of the selected antenna by consuming the reception power of the unselected antenna when performing antenna switching diversity.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention
As shown in FIG. 1, when the impedance (Z a ) viewed from the feeding point (5) of the antenna (1) at the frequency used by the antenna (2) is capacitive, the feeding of the antenna (1) is performed when the antenna (2) is selected. The impedance (Z) viewed from the point (5) on the circuit side is capacitive,
When the impedance (Z a ) viewed from the feeding point (5) of the antenna (1) at the frequency used by the antenna (2) is inductive, the circuit from the feeding point (5) of the antenna (1) is selected when the antenna (2) is selected. A diversity receiving antenna having an inductive impedance (Z) viewed from the side is used.
[0008]
[Action]
Since the diversity reception antenna of the present invention can reduce the reception power consumption of the unselected antenna (1), it is possible to reduce the deterioration of the gain at the use frequency of the selected antenna (2). .
[0009]
【Example】
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a principle diagram of a diversity receiving antenna according to the present invention. The antenna 2 is selected and is connected to a transmission or reception circuit by a switch (or a duplexer) 3. Although the antenna 1 is not connected to the circuit and is in a floating state, the reflection coefficient Γ C as viewed from the feeding point 5 to the circuit side due to loss of the switch, loss of the transmission line 4 leading to the switch, and the like. The absolute value does not become 1.0, but is a small value. When transmission or reception is performed in the antenna 2, the impedance Z a of the antenna 1 at the frequency used at that time is capacitive, that is, in the case of the lower half of the Smith chart, from the feeding point 5 of the antenna 1 By making the impedance (load impedance) Z on the circuit side also capacitive, it is possible to suppress the reception power consumption at the antenna 1 and prevent the gain of the antenna 2 from deteriorating. Further, when the impedance Z a of the antenna 1 is inductive, that is, in the case of the upper half of the Smith chart, the impedance (load impedance) Z on the circuit side viewed from the feeding point 5 of the antenna 1 is also made inductive. Therefore, it is possible to suppress the consumption of the reception power at 1 and to prevent the antenna 2 from deteriorating in gain. This concept will be described in detail below.
[0010]
For example, it is assumed that the impedance characteristics of the antenna 1 are expressed by an LCR series resonance circuit as shown in FIG. Assuming that R all contributes to radiation, and the electromotive force that excites the antenna by the external electromagnetic field is represented by the signal source 6 (V), the reception characteristic when the antenna 1 is used is shown in FIG. In this way, the power consumption amount P 0 (f) in the 50Ω resistor 7 when the internal impedance of 50Ω is connected is evaluated (Equation (1)).
[0011]
[Expression 1]
[0012]
Here, f represents a frequency. The reception characteristic when the antenna 1 is not selected is that a signal source having an internal impedance Z (the absolute value of the reflection coefficient is slightly smaller than 1) as shown in FIG. 4 is connected to the LCR series resonance circuit. In this case, the power consumption amount P (f) at R is evaluated (Expression (2)).
[0013]
[Expression 2]
[0014]
Here, Re () and Im () represent a real part and an imaginary part of a complex number. If this P (f) becomes too large at the frequency used by the selected antenna 2, the characteristics of the antenna 2 will be degraded. Here, the relative power P r (f) is defined as in equation (3), with P (f) as a relative quantity.
[0015]
[Equation 3]
[0016]
P r (f) is a relative amount of P (f) when the power consumption amount P 0 (f 0 ) at the center frequency when the load impedance on the circuit side is 50Ω is used as a reference. The center frequency f 0 is f such that the imaginary term in the absolute value of the denominator of Equation (1) is 0.
[0017]
When P r (f) is calculated, the following equation (4) is obtained.
[0018]
[Expression 4]
[0019]
If these are rearranged with respect to Re (Z) and Im (Z), Equation (5) is obtained.
[0020]
[Equation 5]
[0021]
Therefore, the range of the load impedance Z of the antenna whose impedance characteristics are expressed by the LCR series resonator and having the relative power P r (f) at the frequency f is a complex of the horizontal axis Re (Z) and the vertical axis Im (Z). On the plane,
[0022]
[Formula 6]
[0023]
[Expression 7]
[0024]
On the circle. Since the radius is a positive number or 0, P r (f) can take only a value satisfying the following expression.
[0025]
[Equation 8]
[0026]
Under the expression (8), the center X coordinate satisfies the following conditional expression.
[0027]
[Equation 9]
[0028]
Moreover, since the radius is smaller than the X coordinate according to the equation (7), the circle locus exists only in the range of Re (Z)> 0. The trajectory of Z when P r (f) is changed from the larger side is as follows when the equal sign is established in equation (8):
[0029]
[Expression 10]
[0030]
The center coordinate moves to the right as P r (f) decreases. The radius of the circle starts from 0 and gradually increases. The point indicated by the equation (10) indicates the conjugate complex number 9 of the antenna impedance 8 at the frequency f. FIG. 5 shows the state of Z when P r (f) is changed. If the frequency is such that the absolute value of the Y coordinate of the circle exceeds a certain level, if the impedance of the antenna is Im (Z)> 0, that is, if the load impedance is inductive, the load impedance is also inductive. since no inclination equal P r (f) ¥ 10 shown comes to steep area, it is possible to suppress the P r to a small value. Conversely, when the impedance of the antenna is capacitive in if and also capacitive load impedance, it is possible to suppress the P r to a small value. The value of P r, the two diversity antennas, gain difference of the antenna 1, antenna 2, antenna distance, the difference in the radiation pattern is determined by such. In the case of small portable radio devices such as cellular used at several hundred MHz to several GHz, it seems that the value is slightly lower than 0 dB (minus several dB), but the gain of antenna 1 is much higher than the gain of antenna 2 Or when the distance between antennas is extremely small, it is necessary to make it lower.
[0031]
6 is a perspective view when the λ / 4 helical antenna 13 actually used at 1.5 GHz is attached to a metal casing 15 having a length of 12 cm, a width of 5 cm, and a thickness of about 2 cm, and FIG. 7 shows an equivalent circuit thereof. Indicates. Moreover, the Smith chart at that time is shown in FIG.
The element values are as follows.
[0032]
Antenna center frequency 1500 MHz
Q of antenna 10.0
L 42.4 nH
C 0.265 pF
R 40.0 Ω
Here, when this antenna is not selected, the value of P r (f) at 1400 MHz when the load impedance when the circuit side is viewed from the feeding point is changed is shown on the complex impedance plane as shown in FIG. . Since the impedance of the lambda / 4 helical antenna 13 at 1400MHz capacitive load impedance without coming into dense parts of the contour lines of equal P r ¥ 10 in FIG. 9 when the capacitive, lower the value of P r Can be suppressed. At that time, as shown in FIG. 6, if the other, for example, the inverted F antenna 14 is receiving at 1400 MHz, the energy consumed by the λ / 4 helical antenna is reduced, A good reception state is realized without degrading the gain of the inverted F antenna.
[0033]
Although the present invention has been described only with respect to diversity reception using two antennas, the present invention can also be applied to the case where three or more antennas are used. In addition, not only series resonant antennas but also parallel resonant antennas such as inverted-F antennas and SMSA (Shorted Microstrip Antenna) can be applied to these antennas because the same concept applies.
[0034]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the diversity receiving antenna of the present invention has the antenna (1) when the antenna (2) is selected when the impedance viewed from the feeding point of the antenna (1) at the frequency used by the antenna (2) is capacitive. When the impedance viewed from the feeding point of the antenna (1) at the frequency used by the antenna (2) is inductive when the antenna (2) is selected, the antenna (1) Since the impedance when the circuit side is viewed from the feeding point is made inductive, the reception power consumption of the unselected antenna (1) can be reduced. As a result, it is possible to reduce the deterioration of the gain at the use frequency of the selected antenna (2).
