【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、スーパーマーケット等で使用されるチェックアウトシステムであって、特に一人制と二人制とのいずれの販売形態にも適用することができるチェックアウトシステムに関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】
今日、この種の店舗では、販売業務を効率的に行なうために、顧客の移動方向と平行に細長い長方形状のサッカー台を設置し、このサッカー台上に顧客が持ち寄る購入商品を入れた買物カゴを載置させ、オペレータが販売登録作業を行ないながら順次移送するチェックアウトシステムが一般化している。この場合、サッカー台に対して、バーコード情報の読み取り等の販売登録作業を行なうバーコードスキャナのようなスキャニングユニットと、金銭の授受等の決済作業を行なうＰＯＳ（Ｐoint Ｏf Ｓales）端末のような決済ユニットとが別機器として配設される。

このような従来のチェックアウトシステムの構成例を図６及び図７を参照して説明する。図６は従来のチェックアウトシステム１００を客側から見た様子を示す外観斜視図、図７はその概略平面図である。チェックアウトシステム１００は、概略的には、Ｉ字形（細長い長方形状）のサッカー台１０１の略中央の客側の略縁部にスキャニングユニットである縦型スキャナ１０２を立設し、この縦型スキャナ１０２よりも商品販売作業の流れに沿う下流側位置でサッカー台１０１に隣接させて決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末１０３を別のレジ台１０４上に配設させた構成とされている。縦型スキャナ１０２はオペレータに対面する偏平筐体状のオペレータ側立設面に商品に付されたバーコード情報をオペレータ操作に基づき読み取るための読取窓（図示せず）を有し、この読取窓から出射されたレーザ光等がバーコード上で反射し、その反射光を再び読取窓から入射させて受光部（図示せず）で受光するものである。また、頂部にはバーコードが付されていない商品等の登録作業を行なうためのＰＬＵ（Price Look Up）キー等を備えたキーボード１０５や客面ディスプレイ１０６等を備えている。１０７は買物カゴである。

一方、ＰＯＳ端末１０３は、締め処理操作等を行なうためのキーボード１０８、金銭の出し入れを行なうためのドロワ１０９、オペレータ用ディスプレイ１１０、客用ディスプレイ１１１、レシート印字等に用いられるプリンタ１１２等を備えている。なお、縦型スキャナ１０２側とＰＯＳ端末１０３側とは有線／無線を問わず電気的に信号の授受が可能とされており、縦型スキャナ１０２側の情報はＰＯＳ端末１０３側に取り込まれる。

そして、このようなチェックアウトシステム１００では、図８（ａ）に示すように、スキャニングユニットである縦型スキャナ１０２と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末１０３との両方を一人のオペレータｏ１が操作する一人制の販売形態と、図８（ｂ）に示すように、スキャニングユニットである縦型スキャナ１０２と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末１０３との各々を専任のオペレータｏ２，ｏ３が操作する二人制の販売形態との両方に対応できるようになっている。

ところが、前述したような従来のチェックアウトシステム１００のシステム構成によると、図８（ａ）に示すような一人制の販売形態を採った場合には、スキャニングユニットである縦型スキャナ１０２と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末１０３とがほぼ９０度となる角度関係で配設されており、オペレータｏ１の作業状況としても、縦型スキャナ１０２に正対する姿勢とＰＯＳ端末１０３に正対する姿勢とを繰返して登録作業や決済作業を行なう度に９０度向きを変えることとなり、結構、動き量の大きいシステム構成となり、作業効率があまりよくない。また、決済作業時におけるオペレータｏ１の向きが顧客に対して正対する向きではないため、顧客とのコミュニケーションに欠けるという問題もある。

一方、図８（ｂ）に示すような二人制の販売形態を採った場合には、スキャニングユニットである縦型スキャナ１０２と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末１０３との各々を専任のオペレータｏ２，ｏ３が操作することにより、各オペレータｏ２，ｏ３は向きを変える必要がなくなるので、作業効率は向上する。しかしながら、依然として、決済作業時におけるオペレータｏ３の向きは顧客に対して正対する向きではないため、顧客とのコミュニケーションに欠けるという問題は解消されない。

ところで、従来においては、図９に示すようなチェックアウトシステム２００も考えられている（実公平2-48949号公報参照）。このチェックアウトシステム２００は、概略的には、買物カゴ（図示せず）を載置するためのＩ字形（細長い長方形状）のサッカー台２０１のほぼ中央部分に、商品に付されたバーコード情報をオペレータ操作に基づき読み取るためのスキャニングユニットである定置型スキャナ２０２を載置している。また、この定置型スキャナ２０２の近傍であってサッカー台２０１のオペレータ側には、決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末２０３が配設されている。このＰＯＳ端末２０３は、バーコードが付されていない商品等の登録作業を行なうためのＰＬＵキー等を備えたキーボード２０４、金銭の出し入れを行なうためのドロワ２０５、オペレータ用ディスプレイ２０６、レシート印字等に用いられるプリンタ２０７等を作業の流れに沿う下流側に向けて配置している。

また、このチェックアウトシステム２００のＰＯＳ端末２０３は、キーボード２０４の一部であるキーボード２０４ａのみを定置型スキャナ２０２近傍に残し、その他の部分（キーボード２０４の一部であるキーボード２０４ｂ、ドロワ２０５、オペレータ用ディスプレイ２０６、プリンタ２０７）をスライドレール２０８により左右方向に移動可能とされている。

すなわち、このチェックアウトシステム２００のシステム構成によると、図９（ａ）に示すような一人制の販売形態を採る場合には、ＰＯＳ端末２０３を定置型スキャナ２０２側に引き寄せて、一人のオペレータにスキャニングユニットである定置型スキャナ２０２と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末２０３との両方を操作させ、図９（ｂ）に示すような二人制の販売形態を採る場合には、ＰＯＳ端末２０３を定置型スキャナ２０２から引き離して、スキャニングユニットである定置型スキャナ２０２と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末２０３との各々を専任のオペレータに操作させる。

すなわち、このようなチェックアウトシステム２００によれば、一人制の販売形態及び二人制の販売形態のいずれの場合においても、登録作業時及び決済作業時におけるオペレータの向きを顧客に対して正対する向きにすることができるので、顧客とのコミュニケーションを十分に図ることができ、サービスの向上を図ることができる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、図９に示すようなチェックアウトシステム２００によれば、スキャニングユニットである定置型スキャナ２０２での一人の顧客のための販売登録作業が終了した場合には、空になった買物カゴを作業の流れに沿う下流側へと移動させることになるが、この場合、買物カゴを定置型スキャナ２０２の上をまたいで移動させなければならず、労力が大きいという問題がある。さらに、ＰＯＳ端末２０３がサッカー台２０１のオペレータ側に配設されているため、買物カゴを移動する際には、オペレータが肘を脇から離した状態で（つまり、肘を張ったような格好で）上方から買物カゴを扱わなければならず、腕等に対して大変な負担がかかるという問題もある。

本発明は、顧客とのコミュニケーションを十分に図ることができ、サービスの向上を図ることができるとともに、商品販売作業時におけるオペレータの負担を減らして作業性の向上を図ることができるチェックアウトシステムを提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明のチェックアウトシステムは、オペレータ側と客側との間に位置し、カゴを載置するための荷受面を有するサッカー台と、このサッカー台の客側に寄せて立設され、商品に付されたコードシンボルを読み取るコード読取装置（例えば、縦型スキャナ等）を有するスキャニングユニットと、このスキャニングユニットに対して商品販売作業の流れに沿う下流側位置で前記サッカー台の客側に寄せて立設され、前記スキャニングユニットにより読み取られた商品に係る決済を行なう決済ユニット（例えば、ＰＯＳ端末やＥＣＲ等）と、を備え、前記決済ユニットは、紙幣を収納するための紙幣収納部とコインを収納するためのコイン収納部とを別体で上下方向に二段に並んだ状態で備えるマネーケースを前記サッカー台の荷受面に対して略平行面内で前後方向に引出・収納自在に設けたドロワを有し、前記カゴがその上方を開放された状態で通過できるカゴ通過領域を、前記スキャニングユニット及び前記決済ユニットのドロワと、前記サッカー台の荷受面のオペレータ側の縁部との間に形成し、前記紙幣収納部と前記コイン収納部との少なくともいずれか一方が引き出された場合における引き出された前記紙幣収納部又は前記コイン収納部は、前記カゴ通過領域を通過する前記カゴに干渉する位置に位置している。
本発明のチェックアウトシステムは、オペレータ側と客側との間に位置し、カゴを載置するための荷受面を有するサッカー台と、このサッカー台の客側に寄せて立設され、商品に付されたコードシンボルを読み取るコード読取装置を有するスキャニングユニットと、このスキャニングユニットに対して商品販売作業の流れに沿う下流側位置で前記サッカー台の客側に寄せて立設され、前記スキャニングユニットにより読み取られた商品に係る決済を行なう決済ユニットと、を備え、前記決済ユニットは、紙幣を収納するための紙幣収納部を備えるマネーケースを前記サッカー台の荷受面に対して略平行面内で前後方向に引出・収納自在に設けたドロワを有し、前記カゴがその上方を開放された状態で通過できるカゴ通過領域を、前記スキャニングユニット及び前記決済ユニットのドロワと、前記サッカー台の荷受面のオペレータ側の縁部との間に形成し、前記紙幣収納部が引き出された場合における引き出された前記紙幣収納部は、前記カゴ通過領域を通過する前記カゴに干渉する位置に位置している。

したがって、コードシンボルを読み取るコード読取装置を有するスキャニングユニットとスキャニングユニットにより読み取られた商品に係る決済を行なう決済ユニットとがサッカー台の客側に寄った位置に商品販売作業の流れに沿って並べて立設される。これにより、オペレータは、カゴ内の商品に関する読取作業（販売登録作業）時にはスキャニングユニットに正対してその作業を行ない、読取作業（販売登録作業）後の決済作業時には決済ユニットに正対してその作業を行なうことになるので、販売登録作業時及び決済作業時におけるオペレータの向きを顧客に対して正対する向きにすることが可能になる。また、スキャニングユニット及び決済ユニットと、サッカー台の荷受面のオペレータ側の縁部との間には、カゴがその上方を開放された状態で通過できるカゴ通過領域が形成される。これにより、オペレータは、カゴを持ち上げることなく、単にサッカー台の荷受面上を滑らせるだけで、カゴをスムーズに移動させることが可能になる。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の一形態を図１ないし図５に基づいて説明する。本実施の形態のチェックアウトシステムは、スーパーマーケット等で使用されるチェックアウトシステムに適用されている。

ここで、図１はチェックアウトシステム１をオペレータ側から見た様子を概略的に示す外観斜視図、図２はチェックアウトシステム１を客側から見た様子を概略的に示す背面図、図３は買物カゴを載置した状態のチェックアウトシステムを概略的に示す外観斜視図である。図１ないし図３に示すように、このチェックアウトシステム１は、概略的には、Ｉ字形（細長い長方形状）のサッカー台２と、このサッカー台２の略中央の客側の略縁部に立設されたスキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３と、この商品情報読取装置３よりも商品販売作業の流れに沿う下流側位置におけるサッカー台２の客側の略縁部に立設されて商品情報読取装置３を接続する決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４と、により構成されている。

まず、スキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３について説明する。商品情報読取装置３は、サッカー台２のオペレータから見て奥側（以下、客側という）部分に設けられている。図１中、手前側がオペレータ側、奥側が客側である。この商品情報読取装置３はいわゆる縦型スキャナ５をベースに構成されている。この縦型スキャナ５は商品に付された商品データとしてのバーコード（コードシンボル）の情報を読み取るコード読取装置であって、サッカー台２の荷受面２ａに対して買物カゴＢ（図３参照）より高い位置に設定されてオペレータに対面する前面（立設面）に読取窓６を有し、この読取窓６から出射されたレーザ光等がバーコード上で反射し、その反射光を再び読取窓６から入射させて受光部（図示せず）で受光するものである。これにより、商品情報読取装置３のオペレータ側に位置するサッカー台２の荷受面２ａには、買物カゴＢが通過できるカゴ通過領域１１ａが形成される。

読取窓６の上部には、操作部７を有している。この操作部７は、テンキー、小計キー、締めキー等の各種のキーが集合するキーボード８と、薄型のＬＣＤ（Liquid Crystal Display）及びタッチパネルで構成されるタッチパネル付き表示装置９とを有している。このような操作部７は、垂直方向にチルト可能になっている。操作部７は、例えば、重量物やバーコードラベルの貼れない商品等のように読取窓６を通しての入力に適さない場合の入力操作を補助するためのＰＬＵキーボードとして機能するものである。

次に、決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４について説明する。ＰＯＳ端末４は、サッカー台２の客側の縁部に立設された支柱１０により支持されている。この支柱１０は、ＰＯＳ端末４をサッカー台２の荷受面２ａから一定の距離だけ隔てた位置に位置付けるが、買物カゴＢの上端の位置よりは低い位置にＰＯＳ端末４を設定する。

ＰＯＳ端末４は、上面にオペレータの操作を受け付ける領域を備え、その操作領域にはオペレータ用の表示部１２や、テンキー、小計キー、締めキー等の各種のキーが集合するキーボード１３を備えている。また、オペレータ用の表示部１２の背面には、顧客用の表示部１４も備えている。さらに、本実施の形態のＰＯＳ端末４においては、円形の釣銭皿１５とレシートを発行するためのレシートプリンタ１６とが設けられている。操作者から見て、オペレータ用の表示部１２及びキーボード１３は右側の領域、釣銭皿１５及びレシートプリンタ１６は左側の領域にそれぞれ配置されている。

加えて、ＰＯＳ端末４には、キーボード１３及びレシートプリンタ１６の下方でサッカー台２の荷受面２ａの上方に位置させて、紙幣及び硬貨を収納するドロワ１９が略水平状態で設けられている。このドロワ１９には、マネーケース２０がサッカー台２の荷受面２ａに対して略平行面内で前後方向に引出・収納自在に設けられている。図１はマネーケース２０が収納されている状態を示し、図３はマネーケース２０が引き出されている状態を示す。本実施のマネーケース２０においては、紙幣を収納するための紙幣収納部２０ａとコインを収納するためのコイン収納部２０ｂとを別体で構成しており、紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとを上下方向に二段に並んだ状態で備えている。このように紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとを上下方向に二段に並んだ状態で備えることで、ドロワ１９の奥行き、ひいてはＰＯＳ端末４の奥行きを短くすることができる。また、紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとを一列に並んだ状態で一体に形成するよりも、高さ方向は高くなるがＰＯＳ端末４の幅を小さくすることができる。なお、マネーケース２０（紙幣収納部２０ａ及びコイン収納部２０ｂ）が引き出される際には、この引出動作に連動して上蓋２１が回動して紙幣収納部２０ａを開放し、マネーケース２０（紙幣収納部２０ａ及びコイン収納部２０ｂ）が収納される際には、この収納動作に連動して上蓋２１が回動して紙幣収納部２０ａを閉塞する。

したがって、本実施の形態のＰＯＳ端末４は、前後方向の奥行きが小さい薄型に形成されているため、このＰＯＳ端末４の支柱１０をサッカー台２の客側の略縁部に設置することで、サッカー台２のオペレータ側の縁部とＰＯＳ端末４との間には買物カゴがその上方を開放された状態で十分に通過できる広いスペースの荷受面２ａであるカゴ通過領域１１ｂが形成される。

なお、紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとの少なくともいずれか一方が引き出された場合における引き出された紙幣収納部２０ａ又はコイン収納部２０ｂは、カゴ通過領域１１ｂを通過する買物カゴに干渉する位置に位置する。

このような構成において、スキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４との両方を一人のオペレータＯ１が操作する一人制の販売形態を採った場合について図４を参照しつつ説明する。一人制の販売形態においては、オペレータＯ１は、図４（ａ）に示すように、決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４の近傍に空の買物カゴＢ１を置いた状態で、スキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３の読取窓６に正対する位置で販売業務に待機することになる。そして、このような状態で顧客（図示せず）は買物カゴＢ２をサッカー台２の荷受面２ａ上に載置する。

オペレータＯ１は、顧客が載置した買物カゴＢ２から商品（図示せず）を順次取り出し、縦型スキャナ５によるバーコード情報の読み取りや操作部７からの入力作業による買物カゴＢ２内の商品の販売登録処理を行なう。ここで、マネーケース２０を構成する紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとを上下方向に二段に並んだ状態で備えることで、ＰＯＳ端末４の奥行きを短くしていることから、縦型スキャナ５によるバーコード情報の読み取り時に商品がＰＯＳ端末４のドロワ１９にぶつかることを防止することができるので、読み取り作業をスムーズに行なうことができる。

このようにして販売登録処理が終了した商品は、オペレータＯ１によって、ＰＯＳ端末４の近傍の空の買物カゴＢ１に投入される。以上の処理は、顧客が載置した買物カゴＢ２から商品がなくなるまで繰り返される。

この時、上述のようにして販売登録処理されたデータは、決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４に順次伝送されて処理されているので、顧客が載置した買物カゴＢ２の全ての商品の販売登録処理と買物カゴＢ１，Ｂ２間の移送とを完了したオペレータＯ１は、次に、図４（ｂ）に示すように、ＰＯＳ端末４に正対する位置に移動して決済処理を実行する。

ＰＯＳ端末４における決済処理においては、オペレータＯ１がキーボード１３の小計キーを押すことにより、登録内容を集計した合計金額が顧客用の表示部１４に表示されるので、オペレータＯ１は、顧客がこの合計金額に応じた支払金額の金銭を釣銭皿１５上に載置するまで待機する。釣銭皿１５上に支払いがされると、オペレータＯ１がその支払金額をキーボード１３のテンキー及び締めキーを押して入力することで、全ての取引が印字されたレシートがレシートプリンタ１６より発行され、マネーケース２０が開放される。ここで、マネーケース２０を構成する紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとを上下方向に二段に並んだ状態で備えることで、ＰＯＳ端末４の奥行きを短くしていることから、マネーケース２０の開放時においては、マネーケース２０がオペレータＯ１の体に当たることがない。

また、紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとの少なくともいずれか一方が引き出された場合における引き出された紙幣収納部２０ａ又はコイン収納部２０ｂは、カゴ通過領域１１ｂを通過する買物カゴに干渉する位置に位置することになるので、紙幣収納部２０ａ又はコイン収納部２０ｂへの距離は近くなるので、オペレータＯ１にとって操作性は非常に良い。

最後に、オペレータＯ１は、マネーケース２０に対する金銭の収納及び釣り銭の取り出しを行ない、レシートと買上げ商品が入った買物カゴＢ１とを釣り銭とともに顧客に引き渡し、取引を終了する。

このように買上げ商品が入った買物カゴＢ１を顧客に引き渡すときには、サッカー台２のオペレータ側の縁部とＰＯＳ端末４との間には買物カゴＢ１がその上方を開放された状態で十分に通過できる広いスペースの荷受面２ａであるカゴ通過領域１１ｂが形成されていることから、オペレータＯ１は、買上げ商品が入った買物カゴＢ１をサッカー台２の荷受面２ａ上を滑らせながら移動させるだけで良い。

すなわち、オペレータＯ１は、買上げ商品が入った買物カゴＢ１を持ち上げることなく、単にサッカー台２の荷受面２ａ上をスムーズに滑らせて移動させることができるので、商品販売作業時におけるオペレータの負担が減って作業性が向上する。

そして、一人の顧客との取引が終了した場合には、前の顧客が載置した空の買物カゴＢ２をＰＯＳ端末４の近傍に移すとともに、次の顧客を受け付けるためにスキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３の読取窓６に正対する位置で販売業務に待機することになる。

すなわち、本実施の形態のチェックアウトシステム１によれば、このような取引においては、オペレータＯ１は、買物カゴＢ２内の商品に関する販売登録作業時にはスキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３の読取窓６に正対してその作業を行ない、販売登録作業後の決済作業時には決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４に正対してその作業を行なうことになるので、販売登録作業時及び決済作業時におけるオペレータＯ１の向きを顧客に対して正対する向きにすることができるので、顧客とのコミュニケーションを十分に図ることができ、サービスの向上を図ることができる。

一方、スキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３と決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４との各々を専任のオペレータＯ２，Ｏ３が操作する二人制の販売形態を採った場合について図５を参照しつつ説明する。二人制の販売形態においては、オペレータＯ２は、図５（ａ）に示すように、決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４の近傍に空の買物カゴＢ３を置いた状態で、スキャニングユニットである商品情報読取装置３の読取窓６に正対する位置で販売業務に待機し、オペレータＯ３は、決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４に正対する位置で決済業務に待機することになる。そして、このような状態で顧客（図示せず）は買物カゴＢ４をサッカー台２の荷受面２ａ上に載置する。

オペレータＯ２は、顧客が載置した買物カゴＢ４から商品（図示せず）を順次取り出し、縦型スキャナ５によるバーコード情報の読み取りや操作部７からの入力作業による買物カゴＢ４内の商品の販売登録処理を行なう。ここで、マネーケース２０を構成する紙幣収納部２０ａとコイン収納部２０ｂとを上下方向に二段に並んだ状態で備えることで、ＰＯＳ端末４の奥行きを短くしていることから、縦型スキャナ５によるバーコード情報の読み取り時に商品がＰＯＳ端末４のドロワ１９にぶつかることを防止することができるので、読み取り作業をスムーズに行なうことができる。

このようにして販売登録処理が終了した商品は、オペレータＯ２によって、ＰＯＳ端末４の近傍の空の買物カゴＢ３に投入される。以上の処理は、顧客が載置した買物カゴＢ４から商品がなくなるまで繰り返される。

この時、上述のようにして販売登録処理されたデータは、決済ユニットであるＰＯＳ端末４に順次伝送されて処理されているので、顧客が載置した買物カゴＢ４の全ての商品の販売登録処理と買物カゴＢ３，Ｂ４間の移送とを完了したオペレータＯ２は、キーボード８の小計キーを押した後、図５（ｂ）に示すように、買上げ商品が入った買物カゴＢ３をオペレータＯ３に引き渡すとともに、次の顧客を受け付けるために前の顧客が載置した空の買物カゴＢ４をＰＯＳ端末４の近傍に移し、引き続き商品情報読取装置３の読取窓６に正対した状態で販売業務に待機することになる。
