BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a conductive paste and a ceramic electronic component, and more particularly to a medium temperature firing type conductive paste and a ceramic electronic component including a conductive film formed using the conductive paste.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The conductive paste is generally used for forming a conductive film by applying a thick film forming technique. For example, after a conductive paste is applied on an insulating substrate made of ceramic or glass-ceramic or the like by a screen printing method or a direct drawing method, the conductive paste is baked to have a desired pattern such as an electrode or a wiring pattern. Has been made.
[0003]
Conductive pastes intended for such applications are classified according to the firing temperature into high-temperature fired types that are fired between 800 ° C. and 950 ° C. and medium-temperature fired types that are fired near 750 ° C. and near 600 ° C. can do.
[0004]
High-temperature fired type conductive paste can give excellent conductor properties, especially conductivity and adhesion to the substrate, but when a printed resistor is formed on the substrate side or the substrate is made of a dielectric In such a case, there is a drawback that these printed resistors and dielectrics are thermally damaged.
[0005]
On the other hand, the medium-temperature firing type conductive paste is opposite to the above-mentioned high-temperature firing type conductive paste, and the conductive film can be formed without causing thermal damage to the printed resistor and dielectric. However, it has the disadvantage that the conductor properties are inferior to those of the high-temperature fired type.
[0006]
In general, a medium temperature firing type conductive paste is obtained by dispersing metal powder and glass frit in an organic vehicle. Such a conductive paste forms a thick film conductor by sintering metal powder during firing. The glass frit has a function of bonding the thick film to the substrate. The organic vehicle acts as an organic liquid medium for enabling printing of metal powder and glass frit.
[0007]
The adhesive action to the substrate by the glass frit is called a glass bond action, and when the conductive paste is fired, the glass frit melts and moves to the interface with the substrate, thereby bringing the fired film and the substrate into close contact with each other. Therefore, after firing, a distribution state in which the metal component increases in the upper layer portion of the thick film and the glass component increases as the lower layer portion is formed. That is, the thick film and the substrate are mechanically coupled to each other as if the glass reached out from the surface of the substrate between the metal particles.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In recent years, in the technical field of circuit boards, there is an increasing demand for high-density wiring and multi-functionality on the board, and in firing conductive paste, thermal damage to printed resistors and dielectrics is minimized. Therefore, it is desired that medium temperature firing can be adopted.
[0009]
However, in the conventional conductive paste containing glass frit, importance is placed on the wettability and reactivity with the substrate, so at the interface between the molten glass frit part and the sintered metal particles. However, the glass frit may interfere with the sintering between the metal particles, and may cause a problem that the strength and conductivity of the sintered conductive film itself are lowered.
[0010]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an excellent electrical conductivity by firing, and a medium temperature firing type containing copper powder that can secure sufficient adhesive strength to an insulating ceramic member such as a substrate. It is intended to provide a conductive electronic paste and a ceramic electronic component in which a conductive film made of the conductive paste is formed.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
This invention first contains copper powder, glass frit and an organic vehicle, be those to be fired is directed to a conductive paste, which is scheduled, in order to solve the technical problems described above, copper It is characterized in that the solubility of copper constituting the powder in the glass frit is 5% by weight or more at the firing temperature.
[0012]
The above-described solubility is preferably higher, and therefore is preferably 20% by weight or more.
[0013]
Moreover, it is preferable that the average particle diameter of copper powder exists in the range of 0.5-10 micrometers.
[0014]
The glass frit content is preferably in the range of 2 to 15% by weight with respect to the entire conductive paste.
[0016]
The present invention is also directed to a ceramic electronic component including an insulating ceramic member such as a substrate and a conductive film formed on the insulating ceramic member. The ceramic electronic component according to the present invention is characterized in that the conductive film is formed by applying the conductive paste as described above onto the insulating ceramic member and firing it.

Further, since the bonding strength at the interface between the molten glass frit portion and the sintered metal particles brought about by the copper powder is improved, the bonding strength between the

Moreover, it is preferable that the average particle diameter of copper powder is chosen in the range of 0.5-10 micrometers. If the average particle size of the copper powder is less than 0.5 μm, the bulk density becomes excessively low, and therefore a large amount of an organic vehicle is required for making a paste, which is not preferable. On the other hand, when the average particle size of the copper powder exceeds 10 μm, it becomes difficult to obtain a sufficient sintered state in the

【Example】
Below, the Example of the electrically conductive paste which concerns on this invention is described.
[0035]
Three types of glass frits that give different solubility to copper were prepared. More specifically, the first glass frit corresponds to the example,
PbO: 88.5 mol%,
Al 2 O 3 : 1.5 mol%,
SiO 2 : 1 mol%,
B 2 O 3 : 6 mol% and ZnO: 3 mol%
What has the composition containing was used. The second glass frit corresponds to Comparative Example 1,
SiO 2 : 40 mol%,
B 2 O 3: 50 mol%, and K 2 O: 10 mol%
What has the composition containing was used. The third glass frit corresponds to Comparative Example 2,
SiO 2 : 60 mol%,
B 2 O 3 : 10 mol%,
LiO 2 : 15 mol%, and Na 2 O: 15 mol%
What has the composition containing was used.
[0036]
Table 1 shows the solubility of copper at 600 ° C. for the glass frit according to each of these examples and comparative examples 1 and 2.
[0037]
[Table 1]
[0038]
Next, each glass frit mentioned above, the copper powder as a metal powder, the copper oxide powder, and the organic vehicle were kneaded in the following ratios, thereby producing a conductive paste according to each sample.
Copper powder: 76 parts by weight Glass frit: 7 parts by weight Copper oxide powder: 3 parts by weight Organic vehicle: 14 parts by weight As the organic vehicle, for example, ethyl cellulose resin, alkyd resin, acrylic resin or the like is terpineol-based. Although what was melt | dissolved with the solvent or the alcohol solvent etc. can be used, what melt | dissolved ethyl cellulose resin with the terpineol solvent here was used.
[0039]
Next, the conductive paste according to each sample was applied on an alumina substrate by a screen printing method and dried at 150 ° C. for 10 minutes. Next, the conductive paste was baked by baking at a maximum of 600 ° C. for 1 hour under an N 2 atmosphere to form a thick conductive film.
[0040]
The wiring resistance, initial adhesive strength and thermal aging adhesive strength of the conductive film thus obtained were measured. These results are also shown in Table 1.
[0041]
The wiring resistance (mΩ / □) shown in Table 1 is on the conductive film having a pattern in which the length (L) and the width (W) have a dimensional relationship of 100: 1 (L / W = 100/1). It is the meaning of the sheet resistance value obtained by measuring the resistance value between two points by a well-known four-terminal method and then converting the film thickness.
[0042]
Further, the adhesive strength (Kgf) in Table 1 is a numerical value obtained by connecting a lead wire to the conductive film by soldering and then pulling the lead wire. More specifically, the conductive film having a size of 2 mm × 2 mm is immersed for 5 ± 1 second in a eutectic solder containing 2% of silver (Ag) whose temperature is adjusted to 235 ± 5 ° C. The adhesion strength measured by connecting a lead wire made of tin-plated copper wire with a diameter of 0.8 mm to the film by soldering and then pulling the lead wire at a rate of 20 cm / min with a tensile tester is shown. ing.
[0043]
Further, Table 1 shows both the initial adhesive strength and the adhesive strength after thermal aging with respect to the above-described adhesive strength, and the initial adhesive strength indicates the adhesive strength immediately after soldering the lead wire, The adhesive strength after thermal aging indicates the adhesive strength after aging treatment at a temperature of 150 ° C. for 1000 hours.
[0044]
As shown in Table 1, the wiring resistance is lower as the copper solubility in the glass frit used is higher, and when the solubility is 20.0 wt%, which is 5 wt% or more as in the example. The wiring resistance is as low as 3.0 mΩ / □.
[0045]
In contrast, in Comparative Examples 1 and 2, the solubility of copper in the glass frit is less than 5% by weight, such as 3.0% by weight and 1.0% by weight, respectively, so 4.0 mΩ / □ and 6 The wiring resistance exceeds 3.0 mΩ / □, such as 0.0 mΩ / □.
[0046]
From these results, it can be seen that the sinterability of the conductive film in the example is improved as compared with Comparative Examples 1 and 2.
[0047]
Further, as shown in Table 1, the initial adhesive strength tends to increase as the solubility of copper in the glass frit used increases, but for both Example and Comparative Example 1, 3.0 kgf The above adhesive strength is achieved.
[0048]
On the other hand, when the adhesive strength after heat aging is compared, the difference between the example and the comparative examples 1 and 2 appears remarkably. That is, although the adhesive strength after thermal aging of Comparative Examples 1 and 2 decreased to 0.7 kgf and 0.2 kgf, respectively, in Example 1, 1.5 kgf or more of 1.0 kgf or more. Adhesive strength is ensured.
[0049]
In the above embodiment, the thick conductive film is formed on the alumina substrate. However, even when the conductive film is formed on another insulating ceramic substrate such as a low-temperature sintered glass ceramic substrate, substantially the same result is obtained. Has been confirmed to be obtained.
[0050]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the conductive paste according to the present invention, the firing temperature, so that contain a glass frit that can the solubility of copper constituting the copper powder and 5 wt% or more, at moderate temperatures firing Even if it exists, the electrically conductive film which has favorable electroconductivity and shows sufficient adhesive strength with respect to insulating ceramic members, such as a board | substrate, especially after heat aging can be obtained.
[0051]
When the above-mentioned solubility is 20% by weight or more, the conductivity and adhesive strength of the obtained conductive film can be further improved.
[0052]
In the conductive paste according to the present invention, when the average particle size of the copper powder is selected to be 0.5 μm or more, a large amount of organic vehicle is not required for forming the paste, while the average particle size of the copper powder is set to 10 μm or less. When selected, the sinterability of the obtained conductive film can be made sufficient under normal firing conditions, and good printability that facilitates the formation of fine wiring can be provided.
[0053]
In the present invention, if the content of the glass frit is selected to be 2% by weight or more with respect to the entire conductive paste, the effect of the present invention as described above can be achieved more reliably, and the content can be reduced. By selecting 15% by weight or less, it is possible to prevent the solderability and conductivity from being deteriorated due to the influence of glass frit in the conductive film.
