本発明は自動車を除く一般産業用原動力として屋外使用機器例えば農業用ポンプ、耕運機、発電機等に広く使用されている汎用エンジン用マフラに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来自動車用エンジンの場合、排気マフラはエンジン本体から離れて車体に別体に取付けられることから、スペース的にも、構造的にも比較的制約は少く、十分な性能を持ったマフラを得ることができるものの、汎用エンジンの場合はマフラをエンジンと一体に組付け、しかも、マフラを一体に組付けたエンジン全体を小形でコンパクトに形成しなければならず、これらの要求に対応して形成されたマフラとしては実開平2−131017号公報に記載された考案がある。前記従来例を図4によって説明する。図4は実開平2−131017に記載された従来例のマフラの断面図である。
図においてマフラ本体101内に流出口102に連通する消音室103を該消音室103の隔壁104が流入口105に連通するマフラ本体101内の膨張室106内に面するよう配置されている。隔壁104は単板で構成されるのが一般である。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
エンジンの排気ポートに対しマフラを直接取付けることのできない汎用エンジンでは、
(1)排気ポートとマフラ本体を結ぶ排気管が必要であるが高熱にさらされるため特殊材料もしくは特殊処理をする必要である。
(2)排気管端の接続用フランジの溶接強度を確保しにくい。
(3)排気管とマフラ本体との支え方に工夫を要し通常のブリッジ等では溶接工数がかかりすぎる。

本発明の目的は前記不具合を解消し構造簡単で生産コストを大巾に低下させつつ、しかもマフラとしての各性能を十分保持乃至は向上させることができる汎用エンジン用マフラを提供することにある。

本発明は汎用エンジンの上方に配置され該エンジンの排気ポートにフランジを介して接続されるマフラであって、該マフラの上半分を排気出口が設けられた板金製アッパケース(4)とし、前記マフラの下半分を鋳物製ロアケース(5)とし、前記アッパケースと前記ロアケースとを排気が通過する多数の孔が形成された仕切板(7)を挟んで一体に締付けてなるマフラにおいて、
前記ロアケースの内部に排気管取付側を膨張させた膨脹室(8)を設け、該膨脹室下側の外壁に連設させて、前記汎用エンジンの排気ポートに接続され該排気ポートから上方に湾曲させて立ち上がったフランジ付排気管部(6)を設けるとともに、該湾曲させた排気管部(6)と膨脹室(8)底壁との間の空間を塞ぐごとく排気管部(6)側壁より膨脹室(8)底壁至る面状リブを形成し、前記膨脹室を含むロアケースと排気管部と面状リブとが一体的に鋳物で形成されていることを特徴とし、特にロアケース(5)の内壁に波形の消音用突起を形成したことを特徴とする。

【作用】
本発明は前記のとおり構成されているので、マフラロア部全体が耐熱性鋳物で形成されているため、第1膨張室を含め耐熱用の熱処理が不要となり、熱的に安定した強度を保持しつつマフラの生産コストを大巾に低下させることができる。しかも生産コストを上げることなくロアケース形状を消音特性向上に対応した波形等任意の形状にすることができる。又生産コストを上げることなくロアケースと排気管部又はロアケースとフランジ間にリブを追設できこれにより強度確保が容易且従来の板金製では難しかったフランジそのものの剛性を容易に上げることができる。

【実施例】
本発明に係る第1実施例を図1〜3によって説明する。図1は実施例の汎用エンジンにマフラを取付けた図、図2は実施例のマフラの正面断面図、図3は実施例のマフラの一部破断図である。
図において1は汎用エンジン、3はマフラ、4はアッパケースでマフラ3の上半分で板金製、5はロアケースでマフラ3の下半分で鋳物(例えば熱疲労寿命;耐酸化性に優れ安価で耐久性に優れているとともに鋳造性加工性にすぐれ安価に製造可能な耐熱鋳鋼が好ましい)で形成されている。6は排気管部でロアケース5に一体鋳物で形成されている。2はフランジで排気管部6の端に設けられ汎用エンジン1の排気ポートに接続される。
前記排気管部6は、図2に示すように、排気ポートに接続され該排気ポートから上方に立ち上がったフランジ(2)付排気管部(6)に構成される。
7は仕切板で多孔板で形成されアッパケース4とロアケース5の間に挟まれている。9はボルトでアッパケース4とロアケース5を間に仕切板7を挟んで締め付けている。8は第1膨張室でロアケース5内の空間である。14は排気管で出口部がアッパケース4に溶接で一体につけられている。11は消音材で排気管14内に支持されている。12はピンで排気管14にさされ消音材11を支持している。13は排気方向変更板取付プレートで上半分をアッパケース4に溶接で固定されている。

前記第1実施例の作用を説明する。
マフラ3はフランジ2を排気ポートに取付けることにより汎用エンジン1に取付けられる。汎用エンジン1の排気は排気ポートから排気管部6を通って第1膨張室8に入り仕切板7の多くの孔を通ってアッパケース4に入り、排気管14に入り消音材11の中を通って外へ放出される。ロア部全体が耐熱性鋳物で形成されているため第1膨張室8を含め耐熱用の処理が不要となり熱的に安定した強度を確保しつつマフラ3の生産コストを大巾に低下させる。
