【0027】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a composition for a high refractive index resin, a resin obtained by curing the composition, and a method for producing the same. The resin produced according to the present invention is suitably used for transparent optical materials such as eyeglass lenses.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, plastic materials have been widely used as optical materials such as optical lenses because they are lightweight and difficult to break. The performance required for the plastic lens is high refractive index and high Abbe number as optical performance, and high heat resistance and low specific gravity as physical properties. Among these performances, high heat resistance and low specific gravity have been realized at a high level even in current high refractive index plastic lenses. However, it is very difficult to improve both the refractive index and the Abbe number at the same time because of the contradictory physical properties that the Abbe number decreases as the refractive index increases. In view of this, studies have been actively conducted to increase the refractive index while suppressing the decrease in the Abbe number.
[0003]
Among these examinations, the most representative proposal is a method of using an episulfide compound in JP-A-9-11097, JP-A-9-71580 and JP-A-9-255781.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
According to these methods, a very high refractive index can be realized while having a relatively high Abbe number. However, the resins obtained by these methods have a problem that they are easily yellowed by heating. Furthermore, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 10-298287 proposes a method for preventing coloring during heating by improving the oxidation resistance by addition of thiol. However, although the oxidation resistance is improved, a decrease in heat resistance by addition of thiol can be avoided. There wasn't.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In view of such a situation, as a result of intensive studies, a compound having two or more β-epithiopropylthio groups represented by formula (1) has a mono or polyphenol having one or more hydroxyl groups in the molecule. By using a composition comprising a compound, the above problems were solved, and it was found that a resin having a high refractive index and a high Abbe number and hardly yellowing even when heated can be obtained, leading to the present invention.
[0006]
That is, the present invention provides the component A: Formula (1)

[0012]
These mono- or polyphenol compounds may be used alone or in admixture of two or more. The addition amount of the mono- or polyphenol compound is used within the range of 0.1 to 50 wt%, preferably 1 to 20 wt% of the mono or polyphenol compound / β-epithiopropylthio group weight ratio. When the addition amount of the polyhydric phenol is less than 0.1 wt% of the mono- or polyphenol compound / epithiopropylthio group weight ratio, the effect of suppressing coloring of the resin by heating is small. On the other hand, if it exceeds 50 wt%, there is an effect, but inconveniences such as optical properties, heat resistance, and scratch resistance are reduced as compared with the case of polymerizing with β-epithiopropylthio compound alone. There is.
[0013]
As the curing catalyst used in the present invention, amines, phosphines, Lewis acids, radical polymerization catalysts, cationic polymerization catalysts and the like are usually used.
[0014]
For example, ethylamine, n-propylamine, isopropylamine, n-butylamine, sec-butylamine, t-butylamine, cyclohexylamine, 2-aminoethanol, dibutylamine, triethylamine, tri (n-butyl) amine, N, N-diisopropylethylamine , Triethylenediamine, N, N-diethylethanolamine, N, N-dimethylcyclohexylamine, N, N-diethylcyclohexylamine, N-methylmorpholine, N-isopropylmorpholine, pyridine, N, N-dimethylaniline, β-picoline , Amines such as piperidine, 2,2'-bipyridyl, dicyandiamide, trimethylphosphine, triethylphosphine, tri-n-propylphosphine, triisopropylphosphine, tri-n-butyl Sphine, triphenylphosphine, tribenzylphosphine 1,2-bis (diphenylphosphino) ethane, phosphines such as 1,2-bis (dimethylphosphino) ethane, dimethyltin dichloride, dibutyltin dichloride, dibutyltin dilaurate, tetra Lewis acid such as chlorotin, dibutyltin oxide, zinc chloride, acetylacetone zinc, aluminum chloride, aluminum fluoride, triphenylaluminum, tetrachlorotitanium, calcium acetate, 2,2′-azobis (2-cyclopropylpropionitrile) 2,2′-azobis (4-methoxy-2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile), 2,2′-azobis (2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile), t-butylperoxy-2-ethylhexanoate, n-butyl-4,4′-bis (t-butylperoxy Radical polymerization catalyst such as valerate, t-butylperoxybenzoate, diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphoric acid, diphenyliodonium hexafluoroarsenic acid, diphenyliodonium hexafluoroantimony, triphenylsulfonium tetrafluoroboric acid, triphenylsulfonium hexafluorophosphoric acid, triphenyls Cationic polymerization catalysts such as rufonium hexafluoroarsenic can be mentioned, but are not limited to these exemplified compounds.
[0015]
These may be used alone or in admixture of two or more.
[0016]
The addition amount of the curing catalyst is used in the range of 0.001 to 10 wt%, preferably 0.01 to 5 wt% with respect to the total weight of the composition comprising the β-epithiopropylthio compound and the mono- or polyphenol compound. Used in range. If the addition amount of the curing catalyst is less than 0.001 wt%, the effect is small, which may cause poor polymerization. On the other hand, even if it exceeds 10 wt%, there are cases in which inconveniences such as a shortened pot life and a decrease in transparency, optical properties, or weather resistance may occur.
[0017]
In addition to the curing catalyst, various known additives such as internal mold release agents, light stabilizers, ultraviolet absorbers, antioxidants, oil-soluble dyes, fillers, etc. are added within a range where there is no problem depending on the purpose. Also good.
[0018]
A typical polymerization method for obtaining the resin (for example, plastic lens) of the present invention includes cast polymerization. That is, the composition of the present invention is mixed with a molding catalyst and a resin modifier, if necessary, between the molding molds held by a gasket or tape, and then injected. At this time, there is no problem even if a treatment such as defoaming is performed before or after the injection as necessary.
[0019]
Then, it can be cured by heating in a heatable apparatus such as an oven or water, and the resin can be taken out.
[0020]
The polymerization method and polymerization conditions for obtaining the resin of the present invention cannot be generally limited by the type and amount of the curing catalyst used and the type and ratio of the monomer.
[0021]
The heating polymerization conditions of the composition for a high refractive index resin of the present invention injected into the molding mold largely depend on the β-epithiopropylthio compound and the type of mono- or polyphenol compound to be added, the type of curing catalyst, the shape of the mold, etc. Although it cannot be limited because the conditions are different, it is performed at a temperature of about −50 to 200 ° C. for 1 to 100 hours.
[0022]
In some cases, a preferable result may be obtained if the temperature is maintained in the temperature range of 10 ° C. to 150 ° C. or the temperature is gradually raised and the polymerization is carried out for 4 to 70 hours.
[0023]
Furthermore, the polymerizable composition of the present invention can shorten the polymerization time by irradiation with ultraviolet rays or the like. In this case, a curing catalyst such as a radical polymerization catalyst may be added.
[0024]
In the molding of the resin of the present invention, a chain extender, a crosslinking agent, a light stabilizer, a UV absorber, an antioxidant, and an anti-coloring agent other than the present invention, depending on the purpose, as in known molding methods. Further, a treatment using various substances such as a compound having a hydroxyl group as a dye, a filler, an internal and / or external mold release agent, an internal and / or external adhesion improver, and a dyeability improver may be performed.
[0025]
Moreover, about the taken-out resin molded object, you may perform post-processing, such as annealing, as needed. Furthermore, the resin of the present invention can be obtained as a molded body of various forms by changing the molding mold at the time of casting polymerization, as an optical material such as a spectacle lens, a camera lens, a light emitting diode (LED), or a transparent resin. It can be used for various applications. In particular, it is suitable as an optical material such as a spectacle lens and a camera lens.
[0026]
Furthermore, in the lens using the optical material of the present invention, in order to improve antireflection, imparting high hardness, improving wear resistance, improving chemical resistance, imparting antifogging properties, or imparting fashionability, etc., as necessary. Physical or chemical post-treatments such as surface polishing, antistatic treatment, hard coat treatment, non-reflective coating treatment, and dyeing treatment can be performed.
[0027]
【Example】
Hereinafter, the present invention will be specifically described with reference to Examples and Comparative Examples.
[0028]
The lens performance test was evaluated by the following method.
Refractive index and Abbe number: Measured at 20 ° C. using a Purfrich refractometer.
-Heat resistance: Measured by TMA.
-Oxidation resistance: evaluated by the amount of change in b value before and after heat treatment at 120 ° C for 2 hours in air. B value after heating−b value before heating = change amount.
[0029]
Example 1
0.5 parts by weight of triethylamine as a catalyst was mixed with 99 parts by weight of bis (2,3-epithiopropyl) disulfide as the A component and 1 part by weight of phenol as the B component, and the mixture was stirred and homogenized at room temperature. At this time, the weight ratio of phenol to β-epithiopropylthio compound was 1.01 wt%. Next, this composition was poured into a lens mold and heated in an oven from 20 ° C. to 120 ° C. over 20 hours to be polymerized and cured to produce a lens. The obtained lens showed good heat resistance and oxidation resistance. The obtained lens had not only excellent optical properties and physical properties, but also a good surface state, and striae and surface deformation were hardly observed. The characteristics of the obtained lens are shown in Table 1.
[0030]
Examples 2-10
The same operation as in Example 1 was changed to the composition shown in Table 1, and this was repeated using 0.5 parts by weight of triethylamine as a catalyst with respect to 100 parts by weight of the composition. In either case, the obtained lens had good optical properties and physical properties, a good surface condition, no striae and no surface deformation, and good oxidation resistance. The characteristics of the obtained lens are shown in Table 1.
[0031]
Comparative Example 1
Example 1 The same operation was carried out for lens formation using 100 parts by weight of bis (2,3-epithiopropyl) disulfide as the A component, 0.5 part by weight of triethylamine as the catalyst without using the B component. Since the B component was not used, the oxidation resistance was not satisfactory. The characteristics of the obtained lens are shown in Table 2.
[0032]
Comparative Examples 2-10
Example 1 Polymerization was carried out using the same procedure as shown in Table 2, except that 0.5 parts by weight of isopropylamine was used as a catalyst with respect to 100 parts by weight of the composition. The results are shown in Table 2. Since the addition of thiol and the ratio of the B component to the A component exceeded the range of the present invention, the heat resistance and oxidation resistance were greatly reduced. The characteristics of the obtained lens are shown in Table 2.
