本発明は、ゲーム装置に関し、特に、ゲーム画面を表示する表示面を所定位置に設定し、この表示面に対してプレイヤがボールやその他の移動体を放出するようにしたゲーム装置に関する。

ラケットでボールを打ち返すようなスポーツを模擬的に再現するスポーツゲームでは、プレイヤが保持するラケットやラケットに模したコントローラなどの動きを検出して、プレイヤの動作やボールの移動状態をゲーム画面に反映させるという手法をとるものがある。
このようなゲームでは、プレイヤは手に持ったラケットまたはラケットに模したコントローラなどを操作するものの、実際にボールをヒットするわけではないので素振りを行っているに過ぎず、ボールのヒット感やプレイのリアルさが無いという問題がある。

また、スカッシュやラケットボールなどの専用コートを用いて行われるスポーツは単調になりがちであり、遊び感覚でできるゲームの要素を取り入れることで、年齢や実力差を超えて楽しむことが可能になると考えられる。
さらに、体育館の内壁や建物の外壁などを利用したゲームを提供できれば、手軽にゲーム感覚でスポーツを楽しむことが可能となる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明では、スカッシュやラケットボールなどの専用コート、体育館の内壁や建物の外壁などを利用して、実際にボールなどの移動体を用いてゲームを楽しむことが可能なゲーム装置の提供を目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明の請求項1に係るゲーム装置は、壁面を備える空間または空間近傍の適所に設置するための取付部を備え、且つ壁面に対してゲーム画像を表示する画像表示手段と、壁面を備える空間内を移動する移動体の位置情報を検出するものであって、検出される移動体の空間内における位置情報が、ゲーム画像の仮想空間内における仮想位置情報と対応するように空間内または空間近傍の適所に設置するための取付部を備える位置検出手段と、移動体をゲーム画像中に仮想的に位置させた場合の仮想位置情報を位置検出手段により検出された移動体の位置情報から変換する位置情報変換手段と、壁面に表示されるゲーム画像上の特定画像の位置情報と、位置情報変換手段によって変換された移動体の仮想位置情報とを比較して、ゲーム画像中の表示に比較結果として反映されるイベントを発生するイベント発生手段とを備える。
この場合、たとえばスカッシュやラケットボールの専用コートの壁面や体育館の内壁、建物の外壁などを表示面として画像表示手段によりゲーム画像を表示し、プレイヤがこのゲーム画像に向けてボールやその他の移動体を放出することで手軽にゲーム感覚でスポーツを楽しむことができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
〔第1実施形態〕
本発明の第1実施形態が採用されるゲーム装置の概要を図1に基づいて説明する。この第1実施形態では、スカッシュコートまたはラケットボールコートに設置した場合を例示する。
〈スカッシュ、ラケットボールの概要〉
スカッシュまたはラケットボールのコートは、プレイヤP1,P2の前面に位置するフロントウォール11、サイドウォール12,13、床14、天井15および図示しないバックウォールで構成されている。

プレイヤP1,P2はそれぞれラケットR1,R2を持ち、ボール20が床14に2回バウンドする前にフロントウォール11に向けて打ち合う。スカッシュの場合には、サイドウォール12,13およびバックウォールの上部にアウトラインがあり、このアウトラインよりも上および天井15にボール20が当たるとアウトになる。ラケットボールの場合は、サイドウォール12,13、天井15およびバックウォールの反射を利用することができる。
このようなコート内において、表示面としてのフロントウォール11に対して、プレイヤP1,P2が移動体としてのボール20を打ち合う場合を想定する。天井15には、フロントウォール11にゲーム画像としてのゲーム画面41を投影するための画像表示手段としてのプロジェクタ40が取り付けられている。

〈ゲーム装置構成〉
このゲーム装置の概略構成を示す制御ブロック図を図2に示す。
ゲーム装置は、演算処理を実行して各種機能部を構成するCPU51と、BIOSや各種パラメータなどが格納されるROM52と、処理途中の変数の値やその値のパラメータなどを一時的に格納するRAM53と、ゲームのプログラム、画像データ、その他のデータを格納するハードディスクやCD−ROMなどで構成される記憶部54などを備えている。また、CPU51は、第1CCDカメラ31および第2CCDカメラ32に接続されており、各CCDカメラから送信されてくる画像データを取得するように構成される。さらに、CPU51は、画像表示装置としてのプロジェクタ40と接続されており、記憶部54に格納されているゲームのプログラムをRAM53上で展開して実行し、ゲーム画面となる画像データを生成してプロジェクタ40に送信する。

位置情報取得部63は、画像処理部62で判定されたボール20の接触タイミングにより、その時のボール20の上下方向位置、左右方向位置を各CCDカメラから送信されてきた画像データから判定し、ボール20がフロントウォールに接触した際の位置情報として特定する。この位置情報の特定をもって、ボール20がフロントウォール11に接触したものと判断し、以降の処理を実行する。位置情報取得部63では、第1CCDカメラ31および第2CCDカメラ32の画像データに基づいて、ボール20がフロントウォール11に接触した際の実際のXY座標を取得し、これに基づいてボール20がゲーム画像上にあると想定した場合の仮想位置情報に変換する。

図13に第2実施形態の概要構成を示す。
第1実施形態で用いた第1CCDカメラ31および第2CCDカメラ32に代えて、第1CCDカメラ91および第2CCDカメラ92を利用する。

たとえば、フロントウォール11に平行な平面を想定して、この平面上を横切るボールの位置を検出する複数の発光素子と受光素子の対をマトリクス状に並べるように構成できる。

C)複数のCCDカメラをコート内に設置し、コート内のボール20の位置情報を3次元的に検出するように構成できる。たとえば、サイドウォール12,13のうちの少なくとも1つおよび床14、天井15のうちの少なくとも1つに、移動するボール20を撮影するCCDカメラを設けて、各CCDカメラの画像解析を行うことで、移動中のボール20の3次元的な位置情報を逐次検出することが可能となる。この場合、ゲーム画面内のオブジェクトがフロントウォール11から離れているような場合であっても、ボール20がオブジェクトをヒットしたことを判別することが可能となり、仮想的な三次元空間におけるゲームを提供することができる。

また、複数のCCDカメラから得られるボール20の3次元的な位置情報に基づいて、ボール20の現在の速度を特定することが可能となり、ボール20の速度に応じてゲーム画像中のオブジェクトに対する衝撃度合いやダメージを変化させるような構成とすることも可能である。
たとえば、フロントウォール11に向かうボール20の移動について、フロントウォール11の手前3mの距離から手前1mまでの時間を算出し、この時間によってその地点間2mの距離を割ることによって、単位時間当たりの速度を算出する。そして、この速度が所定の速度以上の場合には、オブジェクトのダメージを大きくする演出を行うべく、たとえば爆発の炎の大きさを巨大にするとともに、その場合の獲得得点をより高くする。なお、ボール20の速度を測定する位置は上記に限定されるものではないが、速度算出の結果をタイムリーにゲーム画面に反映するために速度演算の時間を考慮し、ボール20がフロントウォール11に衝突する瞬間ではなく、そこに至るまでの間で速度計算を行うのが好ましい。

D)フロントウォール11の他に、サイドウォール12,13、床14、天井15、バックウォールなどにゲーム画像を表示することも可能であり、2以上の面にゲーム画像を表示してゲームを行うように構成できる。
E)ゲーム画像の表示方法は、プロジェクタによる画像投影に限定されるものではなく、種々の形態を想定することが可能である。プロジェクタ型のようにどこにでも持ち運べるといった優れた携帯性はないものの、以下のような形態もとり得る。
