Abstract

Furthermore, adding a teapot, a pair of high cups, and a pair of rice bowls to the above gogusoku can also be called tengusoku.

The Buddhist implements placed on the altar in this way are made up of a set consisting of several items, centered around the basic implements (the three Buddhist implements), and usually, in addition to these, further implements such as bells are also added. As a result, the number of Buddhist implements placed on the altar can be quite large.

On the other hand, the shape of Buddhist altars has changed significantly in recent years, with a trend towards relatively small altars. In addition, the market is now offering many small, modern altars that can be placed in living rooms, etc., to accommodate living environments such as apartments. As Buddhist altars become smaller for various reasons, the space available for placing Buddhist altar implements on the altar naturally becomes smaller, limiting the number of altar implements that can be placed on it.

However, if bells are added to the many basic Buddhist altar implements such as a flower vase, incense holder (censer), candlestick, teapot, rice bowl, etc., small, modern Buddhist altars, which are normally small in space, will no longer have the space they need. The invention of this application was made based on these circumstances, and aims to reduce the number of Buddhist altar implements in a Buddhist altar implement set by using a bell, which was previously configured as an independent Buddhist altar implement separate from the Buddhist altar implements, to configure a candle holder (candlestick), thereby integrating the bell and candle holder structurally and in appearance and configuring them as a single Buddhist altar implement.

On the other hand, the desired candle is fitted and fixed to the candle fitting shaft at the top of the flame holder, which is fixed to the inside of the bell, and is stably supported by the bell. The bell is formed into a bowl-like structure that is almost spherical overall, but the center of its bottom is formed into a flat surface with a specified diameter, so the installed state is very stable and will not easily fall over even if it is hit hard. Therefore, it is sufficiently safe as a flame holder.

As a result of the above, according to the invention of this application, while it is a single Buddhist altar implement in terms of structure and appearance, it functions as two different types of Buddhist altar implements with different bells and fire holders (equipment), which effectively reduces the number of Buddhist altar implement sets, making it suitable for use in modern Buddhist altars, mini Buddhist altars, etc., which require limited installation space.

The candle holder is made up of a support shaft 12 of a specified diameter that extends from the center of the flat upper bottom surface 11c of the bell portion 11 toward the upper opening 11b, a wax tray (candlestick) 13 that is supported at the lower center by the upper end 12b of the support shaft 12 and covers the opening 11b of the bell portion 11 with a specified gap (a small gap at a constant interval in the circumferential direction) between it and the opening 11b, and a candle fitting shaft (core shaft) 14 that extends a specified height upward from the center of the upper surface of the wax tray 13.

The lower end 12a of the support shaft 12 is configured as a slightly small threaded protrusion that is screwed into a screw hole (reference number omitted) formed in the flat portion 11c on the upper bottom surface of the bell portion 11, and the support shaft 12 is firmly fixed to the bottom of the bell portion 11 by screwing the threaded protrusion into the screw hole. On the other hand, the upper end 12a of the support shaft 12 is configured as a cylindrical end without a thread that is fitted into a support shaft fitting hole formed in a support shaft fitting tube 13a provided on the underside of the wax receiving tray 13, and the support shaft fitting tube 13a of the wax receiving tray 13 is detachably fitted and supported at the cylindrical end.

In this case, a ring-shaped elastic member 15 made of rubber is fitted to the upper end of the support shaft fitting hole in the support shaft fitting tube 13a of the wax tray 13, and the upper wax tray 13 is elastically supported via this elastic member 15. Therefore, even if the bell part 11 is struck by a bell rod and the support shaft 12 vibrates, the vibration is blocked by the elastic member 15 and is not transmitted to the wax tray 13 side. For this reason, the vibration characteristics and acoustic characteristics of the bell part 11 are not affected (attenuated) by the presence (support) of the wax tray 13.

As shown in FIG. 3, the candle fitting shaft 14 is configured so that its diameter gradually increases from its upper end 14b to its lower end flange 14c, with the diameter at the lower end flange 14c being particularly large. This lower end flange 14c functions as a stopper when the candle is fitted, while its underside is provided with a screw-fitting shaft 14a that is screwed into a candle fitting shaft screw-fitting hole (reference number omitted) that is formed in a state that it penetrates from the upper side of the wax receiving tray 13 to the support shaft fitting hole in the support shaft fitting tube 13a. By screwing the screw-fitting shaft 14a into the candle fitting shaft screw-fitting hole, the entire candle fitting shaft 14 is securely fixed and supported on the upper side of the wax receiving tray 13.

The upper surface of the wax tray 13 is provided with a wax receiving groove 13b, which is a concave spherical shape of a predetermined depth for receiving wax. The outer diameter of the wax tray 13 is formed as close as possible to the inner diameter of the upper end opening 11b of the bell portion 11, and the tray is supported in such a way that the inside of the bell portion 11 is almost invisible. In addition, in this supported state, the height of the support shaft 12 is set so that the upper surface of the wax tray 13 and the upper surface of the upper end opening 11b of the bell portion 11 are almost flush with each other (see the state in Figure 3).

As a result, the bell (rin) and the fire stand (hitate), which were previously separate and independent Buddhist altar implements, are now completely integrated in both structure and appearance, forming a single, independent Buddhist altar implement.

Therefore, in this embodiment of the Buddhist altar implement, when the outer surface of the bell section 11, which is formed into a roughly spherical, bowl-shaped structure overall, is struck with a bell rod, the entire peripheral wall of the bell section 11, which has an arc-shaped cross section, vibrates effectively in both directions, propagating the bell sound evenly in the circumferential direction, and the roughly spherical inner space becomes an appropriate resonance space, generating a reverberation sound with a clear tone and a long lingering sound. The reverberation sound is gradually released to the outside over time through the extremely narrow gap between the opening 11b and the wax tray 13 (while repeatedly reflecting inside), and then propagates evenly in the circumferential direction.

In this case, the flame stand with a columnar structure is fixed inside the bell part 11, but the flame stand is not in contact with the bell part 11 as a whole, and the small-diameter lower end of the support shaft 12 is simply fixed to the bottom part that has almost no effect on vibration. Also, an elastic material 15 is interposed between the upper end 12b of the support shaft 12 and the lower part of the wax tray 13, so even though the flame stand with a columnar structure is integrated, it does not affect the acoustic performance of the bell part 11 itself at all. Rather, the wax tray 13 with a specified outer diameter of the flame stand with a columnar structure is located in the opening 11 of the bell part 11 and moderately blocks the opening 11 of the bell part 11, so the bell sound generated in the spherical space inside the bell part 11 is repeatedly reflected inward, improving the lingering of the reverberation sound and lengthening its duration.

On the other hand, a desired candle (not shown) is fitted and fixed to the candle fitting shaft 14 of the flame holder fixed inside the bell part 11, and is stably supported by the bell part 11. As described above, the bell part 11 is formed into a bowl-like structure that is close to a sphere overall, but the center of its bottom is formed into a flat surface 11a of a specified diameter that takes into account vibration resistance and stability. Therefore, the installed state is very stable, and it will not easily fall over even if it is hit hard with a bell rod. Therefore, it is safe.

As described above, the Buddhist altar implement 1 according to this embodiment is a single Buddhist altar implement in terms of structure and appearance, yet it functions as two different types of Buddhist altar implements: a bell, which is not a Buddhist altar implement, and a candle holder (candlestick), which are Buddhist altar implements that have traditionally been completely separate items.
