Abstract

【課題】打球面の長さに渡って均一な打感をもたらすゴルフクラブヘッドを提供する。
【解決手段】振動減衰インサートを備えたゴルフクラブヘッドで、クラブヘッドは、フェース部材と、減衰部材と、本体部材とを有する。減衰部材は、フェース部材と本体部材との間にサンドイッチされ、フェース部材の大部分に沿って延びる。減衰層は振動を減衰し、打球面の長さに渡って一定の打感を与えることを特徴とする。

Description

本考案は、ゴルフクラブに関し、特に、振動減衰部材を有するゴルフパターに関する。
ゴルフクラブは、グリーン上、その周囲において使用されるクラブを含めて、クラブの「タッチ、フィーリング(フィール)」を向上させるよう、長い間、開発されてきた。クラブのタッチ、フィーリングを向上させる１つのアプローチは、ゴルフクラブのグリップ、シャフト、或いはまた、打球面を改良することである。例えば、クラブヘッドに対する変更には、ゴルフボールとの関係におけるクラブの衝撃に影響を及ぼし、インパクト後のゴルファーへのフィードバックを向上させるインサートを打球面に配置することが含まれるかもしれない。
幾つかの既知のクラブは減衰インサートを有する。しかし、これらの既知の減衰体はゴルフクラブのフェースに亘って均一なフィーリングをもたらさない。クラブのフィーリングや、ヒット時のゴルフボールの性能は、打球面のどの部分ゴルフボールと接したかに応じて変化してしまう。
かくして、打球面の長さに渡って均一なフィーリング(感触、或いは、打感)をもたらす振動減衰インサートを備えたゴルフクラブが要望される。
本考案は、振動減衰部材を備えたゴルフクラブヘッドに関する。クラブヘッドは、フェース部材と、減衰部材と、本体部材とを有する。フェース部材は、打球面と、該打球面と対向する後面とを備える。減衰部材は、フェース部材の後面に連結される。本体部材は、フェース部材と対向して、減衰部材に連結される。本体部材は、シャフトをクラブヘッドに取り付けるためのホーゼルを備える。フェース部材はアルミニウム又はアルミニウム合金で作られ、本体部材はスチールで作られるのが好ましい。
減衰部材はフェース部材の大部分に沿って延びる。この構成は、クラブフェースのどの部分がボールをヒットしたかにかかわらず、クラブの通常使用時に生ずる振動を確実に減衰するのを助け、また、クラブによりやわらかいフィーリングをもたらす。減衰部材は実質的にフェース部材の後面すべてに連結され、フェース部材を本体部材から実質的に隔離するのが好ましい。いかなる振動をも減衰することを更に確実にし、また、クラブのフィーリングを更に向上させるため、フェース部材は、減衰材料によって本体部材から完全に隔離される。フェース部材の後面が或る周囲部外形を有し、減衰部材が後面の周囲部外形と実質的に同じである周囲部外形を有するのが好ましい。これらの部品は接着剤を用いて互いに連結することができ、減衰部材は、それ自体、接着剤として機能しても良い。機械的締結体を、単独で、或いは、接着剤と共に、使用しても良い。
減衰部材は、ゴム、ウレタン、ポリウレタン、ブタジエン、ポリブタジエン及びシリコンのうちの１つ又は２つ以上を含むのが好ましい。減衰材料は複合層であっても良い。更に、フェース部材及び本体部材の色と対照をなす色の減衰部材を提供しても良い。この色の相違は、ゴルファーがショット(パッティング)を調整するときに用いることができる有用な手段となる。減衰部材は、およそ０.５mm(０.０２インチ)乃至およそ２５.４mm(１インチ)の厚さであるのが好ましく、およそ０.７mm(０.０３インチ)乃至およそ２.０３mm(０.０８インチ)の厚さであるのがより好ましい。フェース部材はおよそ１.２７mm(０.０５インチ)乃至およそ６.３５mm(０.２５インチ)の厚さであるのが好ましく、およそ２.５４mm(０.１インチ)乃至およそ５.０８mm(０.２インチ)の厚さであるのがより好ましい。
本考案のクラブヘッドは、２つの金型(モールド)プレートを有する金型(モールド)を用いて組み立てることができる。フェース部材を金型の一方のプレートのキャビティに配置し、本体部材を金型の他方のプレートのキャビティに配置する。本体部材は、金型のキャビティのうちの一方に配置される。任意に、接着剤をクラブヘッドのパーツ間に配置しても良い。次いで、金型プレートを或る力で互いに加圧して、減衰部材２０を所望の厚さ、寸法に加圧する。クラブのパーツの面を粗くして接着させ易くしても良く、任意に、成形作業中、金型を加熱しても良い。
図１は、本考案のゴルフクラブッドを示す。図示した実施形態ではパターヘッドとして示されているクラブヘッドは、フェース部材１０と、減衰材料の層として示されている元帥部材２０と、本体部材３０とを有する。フェース部材１０は、打球面１２と、この打球面１２と対向する後面１４とを有する。減衰部材２０は後面１４と連結されている。本体部材３０は、フェース部材１０と対向する面で減衰部材２０と連結され、クラブヘッド１をシャフトに連結するためのホーゼル３２を有する。
図２は、ゴルフクラブヘッド１の分解図を示す。減衰部材は、フェース部材１０の大部分に沿って延びる。この構成は、クラブフェースのどの部分がボールをヒットしたかにかかわらず、クラブの通常使用時に生ずる振動を確実に減衰するのを助ける。前記構成はまた、よりやわらかな感触(打感)をフェース部材１０にもたらす。減衰部材２０は実質的に後面１４すべてに連結され、フェース部材１０を本体部材３０から実質的に隔離するのが好ましい。フェース部材１０の或る部分は、例えば、ホーゼル３２におけるように、本体部材３０と接することがある。この構成は、或る振動を減衰部材２０に伝達させるかもしれない。或る量の振動がまた、フェース部材１０、減衰部材２０、本体部材３０を連結する機械的締結具を介して伝えられるかもしれない。
ホーゼル３２の周囲の面は種々の仕方で処理することができる。１つの選択肢は、上述したように、フェース部材１０及び本体部材３０を単純に接触させることである。別の選択肢は、ホーゼル３２の周りの、フェース部材１０と本体部材３０との間の隙間をそのままにしておくことである。第３の選択肢は、フェース部材１０と本体部材３０との間に減衰材料を提供することである。この減衰材料は、減衰材料２０と同じでも良いし、減衰材料２０と異なっていても良い。
いかなる振動をも減衰することを更に確実にし、また、クラブの感触(打感)を更に向上させるため、フェース部材１０は、減衰材料２０によって本体部材３０から完全に隔離される。後面１４が或る周囲部外形を有し、減衰部材２０が後面１４の周囲部外形と実質的に同じ周囲部外形を有するのが好ましい。これらの部品は接着剤を用いて互いに連結することができる。図３は、ゴルフクラブヘッド１の好ましい組立構成の断面を示す。上方金型部４０及び下方金型部４１が設けられ、フェース部材１０と、減衰部材２０と、本体部材３０とが金型のキャビティに位置決めされる。クラブパーツ間には接着剤が位置される。金型プレート４０、４１が力で互いに加圧されて、減衰部材２０を所望の圧さ及び寸法に加圧する。クラブパーツの面を粗くして接着させ易くしても良い。減衰部材２０はフェース部材１０、本体部材３０のいずれよりも非常に柔らかいから、減衰部材２０は全ての加圧力を効果的に受ける。減衰材料は、追加の接着剤が必要にならないように、選択されるのが好ましい。クラブヘッド１を金型から取り出した後、余分な材料をトリムする。
好ましい減衰材料は、ゴム、ウレタン、ポリウレタン、ブタジエン、ポリブタジエン及びシリコンのうちの１つ又は２つ以上を含む。減衰材料２０は複合層であっても良い。例えば、減衰部材２０のトゥ部分、センター部分、ヒール部分に異なる材料を与えることができる。更に、フェース部材１０及び本体部材３０の色と対照をなす色の減衰部材２０を提供しても良い。この色の相違は、ゴルファーがショット(パッティング)を調整するときに用いることができる有用な手段となる。減衰部材２０は、およそ０.５mm(０.０２インチ)乃至およそ０.２５４mm(０.０１インチ)の厚さであるのが好ましく、およそ０.７mm(０.０３インチ)乃至およそ２.０３mm(０.０８インチ)の厚さであるのがより好ましく、これらの厚さは、クラブヘッド１の長手方向軸線に対して実質的に垂直な方向において測定されたものである。
アルミニウムはフェース部材１０に関して好ましい材料である。アルミニウムは、比較的柔らかく、クラブヘッド１の感触(打感)を向上させる。スチールは本体部材３０に関して好ましい材料である。フェース部材１０は、およそ１.２７mm(０.０５インチ)乃至およそ６.３５mm(０.２５インチ)の厚さであるのが好ましく、およそ２.５４mm(０.１インチ)乃至およそ５.０８mm(０.２インチ)の厚さであるのがより好ましい。
スチールは比較的重く(密であり)、クラブヘッド１にソリッド感を与える。本体部材３０は、クラブヘッドの重心を通って延びる垂直軸線を中心とする慣性モーメントを増大させるように設計される。この設計は、例えば、本体部材３０のヒール部分及びトゥ部分にウエイト(重量物)を配置することによって、なすことができる。
本考案の好ましい実施形態を説明したけれども、これらは例示目的でのみ提供されたのであって、限定するつもりで提供されたのではないことを理解されたい。本考案の精神、範囲から逸脱すること無しに、形態や細部における種々の変更を行うことができることは、所謂当業者にとって明らかであろう。例えば、ゴルフパターにおいて本考案を説明したけれども、開示したアイデアやコンセプトをその他のタイプのゴルフクラブ、例えば、アイアンタイプのクラブ、ウッドタイプのクラブ、ハイブリッドタイプのクラブに適用することができる。かくして、本考案は、上述した例示の実施形態によって限定されず、実用新案登録請求の範囲及びその均等物にしたがってのみ画定される。

Claims (12)

  1. ゴルフクラブヘッドであって、
    打球面と、該打球面と対向する後面とを備えたフェース部材を有し、前記後面が第１の周囲部外形を持ち、
    前記後面と連結され、前記フェース部材の周囲部外形と実質的に同じである周囲部外形を備えた減衰部材と、
    該減衰部材と連結された本体部材とを有する、
    前記減衰部材が、０.５mm(０.０２インチ)乃至２５.４mm(１インチ)の厚さを有し、
    前記減衰部材が、ゴム、ウレタン、ポリウレタン、ブタジエン、ポリブタジエン及びシリコンのうちの１つ又は２つ以上を含み、
    前記フェース部材が、前記減衰部材によって前記本体部材と隔離されている、
    ゴルフクラブヘッド。
  2. 前記フェース部材がアルミニウム又はアルミニウム合金で作られ、前記本体部材がスチールで作られた、請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  3. 前記本体部材がシャフトを前記クラブヘッドに取り付けるためのホーゼルを備える、請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  4. 前記減衰部材が実質的に全ての前記後面に連結されている、請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  5. 前記フェース部材、前記減衰部材及び前記本体部材を連結する機械的締結手段を有する、請求項４記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  6. 前記フェース部材が前記減衰部材によって前記本体部材から実質的に隔離されている、請求項４記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  7. 前記フェース部材が前記減衰部材によって前記本体部材から完全に隔離されている、請求項６記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  8. 前記前記減衰部材が、前記フェース部材と前記本体部材とを連結する接着体である、請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  9. 前記減衰部材の前記厚さが０.７mm(０.０３インチ)乃至２.０３mm(０.０８インチ)である、請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  10. 前記フェース部材が１.２７mm(０.０５インチ)乃至６.３５mm(０.２５インチ)の厚さを有する、請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  11. 前記厚さが２.５４mm(０.１インチ)乃至５.０８mm(０.２インチ)である、請求項１０記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  12. 前記ゴルフクラブヘッドがパターヘッドである、請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
