竪樋の雨水流通路14の雨水は受水筒部1に設置された斜流板2により、常に取水筒部4へ流れる構造としており、取水筒部1には取り外し可能なゴミ濾過材7を設置し下面に取水口8を設けているため、ゴミ除去済の雨水を取水する事が出来るが、取水不要な場合は取水口8の開閉コック9を閉めれば雨水は溢出雨水分岐樋5を経てもとの下部竪樋15から排水溝へ排出される。豪雨時、取水筒部4で溢れた雨水も同様に排出される。また貯留槽11の満水位12と本装置内の溢水位13即ち溢出雨水分岐樋5の高さを同一に設置すれば貯留槽から水が溢れる事はない。

取水口8を取り付け、貯留槽11へつなげてゴミを除去した雨水を貯留する。装置17は受水筒部1と取水筒部4と溢出雨水分岐樋5の三部分を持つ構造で受水筒部1下部は二つの筒となり取水筒部4と溢出雨水分岐樋5になる。取水筒部4と溢出雨水分岐樋5は隣り合わせの構造なので取水筒部4の溢水は溢出雨水分岐樋5に流れて切断された下部竪樋15を経て排水溝16に排出する。装置17上面には、取水筒部4に内蔵された合成繊維等のゴミ濾過材7や、ステンレスのゴミ除去網6の取替えや掃除のための蓋3をつけておく。
