従来の自転車は、1タイヤ1チューブ式に作られている。タイヤは皆そう作られているが、軽装な自転車の場合はパンクで困ることが時々おきる。
簡単になおせないし、修理に時間がかかる。

上記目的を達成するために、1本のタイヤに2本のタイヤチューブを組み込む。空気注入部の取り付け穴を近接あるいは離して2つ以上作り、2本のタイヤチューブをタイヤに内蔵させる。2カ所の空気注入部の片方だけ、あるいは両方に適量の空気を注入する。

1タイヤ1チューブの場合と、走行感はほとんど変わらない。チューブのセットも難しくない。パンク時は、片方のチューブに携帯空気入れで空気を入れれば、すぐ走行可能になる。
