画像を発生させるようになり、回転体の交換が必要にな
る。そこで、この回転体の交換時期を遅らせる為に、分
離爪を装置内で適宜揺動させて分離爪が接触する回転体
表面の面積を広くし、これにより、出来るだけ局部的な
損傷をさけるようにしている(例えば、実開昭60−1
59455号公報、特開昭64ー50084号公報参
照)。ところが、従来の装置においては、この分離爪揺
動のための機構が複雑で、部品点数の増加、コストアッ
プ、装置の大型化につながるという問題点があった。例
えば、特開昭64−50084号では分離爪を保持し且
つ回転体の軸方向に移動自在な爪保持軸と、該爪保持軸
に係合して該爪保持軸を所定方向に移動させる為のカム
部材と、駆動源からの駆動を該カム部材に伝達する為の
駆動力伝達機構とを設けて分離爪を揺動させるに当た
り、該駆動力伝達機構を、通常のクラッチや平歯車の他
に、爪保持軸に軸支され一端に扇形歯部をもち他端にラ
チェット爪をもつ揺動部材という特殊な部材を追加して
構成する必要があり、且つ、該カム部材に該ラチェット
爪に係合するラチェット部を形成する必要があるという
ように部品点数の増加、コストアップ、装置の大型化に
つながるという問題点が残されていた。又、実開昭60
−159455号公報では、駆動源と、駆動源に軸支さ
れているカム部材と、一端が該カム部材の溝に係合して
おり回転体の軸方向に移動自在な爪保持軸とを設けて分
離爪を揺動させることから部品点数は少なくなっている
が、専用の駆動源を設ける必要があってコストアップに
なるという問題点が残されていた。又、このような分離
爪は経時的にトナーが付着していくと、転写材にトナー
汚れを発生させるようになるので、適宜分離爪を取り出
して清掃する等の保守作業が必要になるが、分離爪周
